I think I come off as a asshole to people... but if I do not like you, I won't talk to you. If we have nothing in common, I probably won't talk to you. Otherwise, don't worry about it. I don't expect everyone to be just like me, but I still enjoy a conversation to be somewhat interesting to me. I'm just not the most talkative person in the world. J-rock rant time
1. Actually, I dislike the word J-rock when it is used to define a genre. The only thing J-rock specifies is that it is rock music from Japan... and I do not think that An Cafe and 12012 really have any reason to be lumped together as the same genre because, clearly, they are not. I try to avoid that word unless I can't possibly get more descriptive.
2. Hating/loving bands based on their looks. Visual kei fans can be shallow... it's no secret. People who make up their taste in music by what they see in a magazine rather than... gee... I don't know... MUSIC... really bothers me. They're not models (well some are...), they're musicians... and no matter how they look, it is the music that matters.
3. People who claim ownership of a band or band member. They are not yours. They have other fans. You are not special for liking them. Grow up and stop trying to discourage support for bands you say you like.
4. When people copy Kyo's stage stunt gimmicks because they think it's cool. It's something for stage, it's not a healthy thing for Kyo to do to himself, and it's not a healthy thing to do to yourself, either. Harming yourself in order to act like an "elite" fan is just... bullshit.
5. New visual kei fans. Maybe I'm old and disgruntled, but I'm sick of people pretending they know all about visual kei when they only know 5 or 6 bands that existed before 2004. Likewise, I hate it when these fans think it's dumb or pointless that I listen to old kote kei stuff. I don't expect everyone to be crazy about 1998, but I do expect that someone who calls themselves knowledgable would at least familiarize themselves with the FULL history of visual kei and respect it, not just a couple of bands disperesed across the FIRST 15 YEARS. Know your roots or shut the fuck up about it. I'm sick of hearing bullshit "history of vk" from newfags who only know 20 bands.
6. J-rock Yaoi is awkward and weird. Putting real people in sexual situations with each other is something I find extremely disrespectful. I wouldn't like someone to do that to myself if it was of an acquaintance, friend, or even someone I am in a relationship with. People claim to respect these musicians, but then they write sexual stories or make pornographic drawings of the members... and I don't see how you could expose something that private (and highly likely to be FALSE) about someone you claim to have respect for.
7. When people think "jap" is an appropriate abbreviation for "Japanese" D: I see this way too much from foreign fans who like Japanese music. During WWII, the U.S. used Jap as an offensive term towards Japanese people... and the word still carries somewhat of the same derogatory overtones. It would be like calling Chinese music "chink music", basicly.
Random Rants
1. Why are there so many cults on this site that are supposed to be for people who are "glamourous and intelligent" and have some long-ass application... and then the cult is called something like "Dirty Cunt Fucks"? yea... that sounds really glamourous and intelligent. I totally want to be part of something with that name. x______x
2. PEOPLE DO NOT READ THINGS!!!! I have a deviantart account and every time I post something, I post a pretty basic explanation of what the picture is and about... and I still have people leave comments asking things that are answered literally right in front of their face. eugh... same goes with profiles... people here have left me comments like "so what kind of music do you like?" x___x
3. Picture theives. I haven't had any of my pictures stolen, but I've seen many other fake profiles or stolen artwork. That REALLY is not fair to the people who took those pictures or made the artwork... and really pathetic on the behalf of the theif.
4. "KONNICHIWA!!!! GENKI DESU KA!? KAWAIINEKOPOCKYICHIGOCHANDESU!!!!!!" is annoying. Please don't. When talking to me, please use English OR Japanese. English is my native language, so that would be preferable. As someone who is seriously learning the Japanese language (and doing pretty well), I find it highly unamusing when people just learn 10 words and decide it'll be cool to interject them into English sentences.
5. Fanbrats. Lying about, stalking, claiming, etc... band members is really creepy. Musicians are normal people... bad rumors affect them, stalking is some scary shit, they do not belong to you, and they are not gods. There's nothing wrong with admiring someone and being a fan, but there's no need to act like such a weirdo about it.
