You can check out my full bio over on SheJay.Net if you want all the gory details, but to sum up -- I've been a DJ for over 17 years between radio and club work, so roughly half my life. I'm still amazed that people like what I do, but hey, who am I to argue? I just like having a good time!   Reader's Choice for Best Club/Party DJ, 2006 The Creative Loafing article in the Nov 22nd, 2006 issue is up at their site For DJ Spider, spinning records isn't a hobby, it's a way of life. She's been working the wheels of steel for more than 17 years, starting out in the Caribbean and then hitting the states and finally settling in Charlotte. DJ Spider got her nickname in high school. Later, while working in radio she found herself sitting in a chair that set too low to the ground. Since she is a tall lady, her legs seemed to pop up like spider legs. Spider says, "I bit somebody one time and that added to the legend." With experience and knowledge in a variety of musical genres such as pop, Latin, country, techno, industrial and synth-pop DJ Spider could make the best out of any type of party. Around Charlotte she spins at The Breakfast Club's Retroactive Thursday's and frequently she can be found at Purgatory, Inferno, Installation and The Liquid Lounge for special occasions. She also travels outside of Charlotte borders, hitting clubs in Knoxville, Tenn.; Philadelphia; and Washington, D.C. When she isn't spinning, DJ Spider enjoys sewing and stitching costumes for events like Dragon Con, the Atlanta-based fantasy/science-fiction convention. She also enjoys reading, cooking and marketing porn. DJ Spider has considered retiring from the DJ business, but somehow it never seems to happen. When asked what she'd be doing if she wasn't DJing, Spider says, "At some point some old lady with boobs sagging down is not going to be as attractive as every other day of the week. I don't want to be that DJ. So at some point, I will stop, but for now I still have the energy and passion for it."
