FACTS: Genus Hippocampus

- Members of the Pipe-fish family.
- Head like a horse, tail like a monkey, and a pouch like a kangaroo.
- They do not have teeth or a stomach.
- Each eye can move independently from the other.

- Only animals in the entire animal kingdom in which the male carries the offspring.
- The female seahorse deposits the eggs into the male's small pouch.
- The male fertilizes the eggs by releasing his sperm into the water and
then swims through it.

- They have a single mate for life.
- Every morning, they come together; dance, change their color, twirl around with linked tails and then separate for the rest of the day.
- Mating is usually done under a full moon and while doing so, they utter musical sounds.
