I'm ecstatic about who I am. It's who everyone else is that depresses me. from the time she is very young , all plum wants is this: to be loved for who she is with complete and awesome devotion. she tries to dress herself the way she feels inside so that the love of her life will recognize her easily. which means that in elementary school she wears as many barrettes as she can fit in her long black hair and shortens her skirts daily, letting them down again before her mother sees. in junior high she staples rhinestone studs to her clothes. in high school she chops off all her hair, to her mother's horror, and spikes it with gel. she designs clothes with zippers and chains and does her eyes like various flowers and insects-orchids, dragonflies. -nymph by francesca lia block.
