Profile
Dylan Mikkel "Natas" Page... Born and raised in NYC... Travelled around the globe... Came home to the city he was brought up in... Returning to his roots...
Dance music... An expression of the soul... Music that makes you move... Music that takes you to another level...
Welcome to my work... It's a living and breathing entity...
I'm currently finishing an album... It's been years in the making... I welcome your input...
*** UPDATE ***
I've been trying to re-define where I take my music, as well as who I am, both inside and out...
This is an exciting time for me, as well as an exciting time to hear my music... I'll be taking my tunes to places that they've never been before, and I hope that you'll take this journey with me...
Sounds Like
Remember that rave you went to and you ate that pill someone handed you?
Yeah... It's something like that...
Influences
Growing up? I was a huge fan of my mom's record collection... Show tunes... Soul... R&B... That's the shit I was born and raised on...
As I grew older, and as I started listening to the radio, I started listening to 80s rock, and soft rock, and all sorts of synthy stuff...
I got hooked on the whole grunge thing back in the early 90s... Wound up hearing some Nine Inch Nails on both the radio, as well as in movies (Remember that Rollerboy movie???), and I got hooked...
I wound up getting hooked on Nine Inch Nails, and tha got me into KMFDM, which then also got me into Front Line Assembly, and then Front 242, and so on...
I spent time as the New York City KMFDM rep for TVT Records back in the day, and eventually wound up at college in upstate NY, listening to all sorts of stuff that would make your ears bleed...
When I got back from upstate, I was hooked on electronic dance music, particularly the crazy Happy Hardcore shit that Anabolic Frolic would spin on his Happy2bHardcore compilations... I wound up going to parties all the time, and discovered a magical world of feel-good music called Trance...
I wound up DJing Saturday nights at a bar in NYC called Duck, and mostly spun Progressive Trance, as well as UK Nu-NRG... Lots of Tidy Tracks and Tinrib...
One day, while shopping at the Virgin Megastore on 14th Street and Union Square in Manhattan, I found a record by an artist called Razed in Black... It was titled Oh My Goth!, and I totally laughed at the title and said to myself "I must own this record!!!"
Little did I know it, but that day changed my life...
In the years that followed, not only did Razed in Black influence my musical tastes, but Romell, the genius behind Razed in Black has become one of my best friends and has helped me grow both musically and spiritually...
As of recent times, I've also had the fortune to bounce ideas off of artists such as Cylab, Experiment Haywire, Bombs Over Berlin, and other artist (check my bands list... Most music on there is of friends, and a few are possibly friends to come...)...
Anyhoo... That's a semi-brief idea of where my musical influences come from... Feel free to ask me any questions... I'm always happy to talk about stuff. :)
