Mirror Essence ToRture
Profile: No matter where in the world they may appear - Mirror Essence Torture has a way of tapping into the indulgence of the forbidden ... lyrically the band focuses much on forbidden desires, sexual fetishes, occultic themes, and various other counterculture messages - the project began in late 2005 when Cassie Lee connected with another musician - a keyboard and poetic extraordinaire Josaphine Grey - both into the european industrial sound and clasically trained from early ages in their childhoods... the sound of Mirror Essence Torture was inspired out of heavy metal/EBM/and classical music ... and the imaginatively incline minds of the two founders ... an odd combination of genres - however the out come is strangeley brilliant and ingeneous - in that eerie twisted sort of way... and a violin soloist replacing much of what a guitar solosist would be thought of ... Mirror Essence Torture adds a sort of non typical stage show as well - appearing dressed as described as definitely gothic ... and adding incredibly strange on-spot elements... tempo changes... key changes ... and odd covers that would typically be thought as "out of their genre"... interaction with the audience is one of Mirror Essence TorTure's primary focuses... Mirror Essenc Torture's distinctively outside the box sound derrived from the two founding members Cassie Lee and Josie Grey ... beginning at a hole in the wall open mic ... Cassie - playing a drunken yet devilish violin imrovisation solo and Josie soloing a Tori Amos cover on piano - connected instantly - intrigued by eachother's style .. becoming an acoustic duo first - the two girls played at a few local cafes and open mics - strictly as for fun as the two grew closer - the decision was finally made to start something a bit larger - it would become a gothic/electro/metal twist on what they had already been doing as a duo... the two girls are actually quite surprisingly different yet the same at the same time ... though their history of past experiences would seem like events leading them together by fate... Cassie Lee had already had been playing violin since she was 4 and picking up other instruments over the years ... and had a moderate history of minor underground success in various projects, ensembles, and bands in several locations throughout the world - she had been exposed to many genres and many different cultures - a few of the earlier songs "Crimson Rush" and "Date with Darkness" and the lost "Mein Kinder" are taints of some of the projects that had been released in the underground in parts of Europe - the Instrumental violin featured solo in "Nacht Tanzen" first being written and inspired in Beiruit ... ... Cassie is seen as the sanity of the duo - the one who focuses the efforts towards a greater goal... the one who regiments the song structure to project the mood or message... however tends to be so reserved she is can be difficult to talk to... or find - cassie is the sort of catch-phraze , witty hook type of song writer - geared to provoke certain moods and reactions Josie Grey had been pounding on the keys since age 3 but had not yet had an outstanding record of past performance experience - however was nonetheless extremely talented and inspirationally impacted the band 's entire spectrum of operation and opened doors to many of cassie's mind blocks... and was the heart of the original duo Josie's style and inspiration roots from Tori Amos, Placebo, Jeff Buckly and a few others Josie would be considered the insanity of the duo - the free spirited type and the centre of the band's general mood in the songs - also the random selector of all covers usually an in-tuned wailer on the mic - she had a multi-octive powerful voice (that cassie envies) and it shows that every ounce of her emotion goes into her music when on stage - josie would be the type of songwriter that says everything on her mind in her lyrics - almost a pick and paste thoughts style that sounds more than exceptional - though her lyrics are generally to project a personal mood wrather than to provoke one first performing and recording under several other names the final decision was consensually made to name the project Mirror Essence Torture - an implicit non-definititive statement on how one may see another true self In themselves rather than what the mirror - or society would label one at face value.. .... ... a few recitals later - a few discouraging gigs later - both of the girls began to wonder if the band image and sound was too outside the box for people to handle .... as a true beginning in the conservative midwestern state of Wisconsin - a following was doomed to be scarce in the local underground - or lack of an underground one should say - - - MET began to branch out to other countries finding more interest in Europe and the East Coast - and in Chicago - - - - - - - a few part time musicians have been in and out of the band throughout the few years - however committed members were scarce in the area as most musicians were more focused on other aspects of life and veiwed music as more of their hobby wrather than as a career... .... ... the recent events included Josie running away to seattle prior to the output of a US released Debut... ... .. however - though without the other half of the founding duo - CASSIE will continue to finish the album - and recruit more musicians for the band as the offers of gig oppertunities and promotion companies begin to stuff the Band's mailbox... the upcoming weeks look to be strenuous and grueling - somehow the final survivour of the bands foundation presses on - only a sign - this is truly a long haul project focused to really make an impact on modern music a tour is being planned - and both are busily recruiting musicians... though most of the time is being spent in the studio as a US released album is expected soon!!
