Name: Emerald "Emma" Irthe
Age: 45 (looks 20)
Species: Bitten.
Personality: Emerald is very easy going and down to earth. She's bright and friendly, and easy to talk to even after all that has happened to her. She's very interested in science and the world around her. She can normally be found outside, exploring nature or at the very least studying it. Though she is quick to make conversation with strangers, she is not fast to keep close friends. She is always wary of those who see a lasting relationship with her, be they male or female. She will give you one chance to earn and keep her trust, but only one. So long as you are civil, she will be the same. If not, well... Best avoid her then.
Background: Born in the year 1966, Emerald's life was pretty much average. She was born to a doctor father and a homemaking mother. She had an older brother named Onyx and a baby sister named Rosa. She attended school like normal, and was even in the top tier of her
class. She graduated a few months early, and everything was going great, according to plan. That is, until she learned just how messed up her brother's life was.
Her brother was never a rolemodel. He was kicked out of school at least once for every rule; smoking in the bathroom, truancy, disrespecting teachers, fighting. You name it, he'd gotten busted for it. He hung around kids who weren't good influences on him. He was always a follower, and they convinced him to break the rules and go rough against the grain. She had always known that he was a partier. Young she may have been, but not stupid. He'd com come reeking of beer and weed. She thought that's where it ended.
One night, Onyx was driving her (complaining the entire time) home from the store. Everything was going fine, other than the cigarette smoke that was agitating her throat. That was, until a man threw himself in front of the car. Onyx instantly stopped, screaming "What the hell, man?" The man ripped him from the car. "Lukas!" Onyx said. "What are you doing?" "Where's my money?" Lukas snarled. "I told you... The end of the month..." Lukas smashed the window in with superhuman strength. "You're lying!" Emerald let out a soft whimper as the glass flew at her, leaving a series of cuts in her flesh. Lukas inhaled, turning instantly to the girl. "NO!" Onyx yelled, stepping between him and the car, trying to stop him. "Emma has nothing to do with this!" he pleaded. But Lukas ignored each word, tossing him aside like a rag doll.
"Hello lovely," he said with a sick smile. "Care to come to a party with me?" He inhaled deeply, taking in her scent, the fresh blood trickling from her cuts. "I promise... I won't bite," he snickered. Onyx was desperately trying to fight him off.
"Leave her alone!" "N-no.. I want to go home..." Emma stuttered. Lukas smirked. "Sorry honey. Bus doesn't stop there." Within a blink his fangs had descended and plunged into her flesh. She felt a surge of pain, then everything went black.
When she awoke, the car and her brother were gone, as was Lukas. Something was wrong. She could see better, hear better. All of a sudden she mentally saw the flash of Lukas' fangs. She brought her fingers to her neck and felt two small holes. She wasn't crazy... She was a vampire.
She went home to her crying parents. Disturbed and confused, she demanded to know what had happened. "An overdose," they told her. "He died at the wheel and hit a tree." No! Emerald thought, beginning to cry. Lukas had turned her into a vampire. He had killed her brother.
Emerald knew at once that she could not stay with her parents. Not like this. She wrote them a letter, saying that in time she would come back to tell them the truth... But she couldn't just yet. She attended her brothers memorial before losing herself in the crowd, running away.
And like that she was gone, traveling to find Lukas before giving up, and settling for once in the city of the vampires, hoping that maybe it would be him who found her.
Anything else: She has a soft spot for animals and a fascination to this day with nature and science. She can often be found outside or in the library. She owns a cat named Shadow.
