R.I.P Sassy

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Born: February 29, 1996
Died: August 4, 2008 11:15 A.M.

Sassy lived to be 12 years old.
In human years she was about 108 years old.
So she lived quite a while.
She was adopted by us when she was 6 weeks.
I was 5 at the time....
She was a Beagle/Lab and yes she was a mutt
but a good one. She kept the house alive with
me for years till she reached 9.
Then she started slowing down and sleeping more.
When we adopted her she contracted the
Parvo Virues from the dog in the neigboring cage
She luckily survived the disease.....
She started getting arthiritis at about 10.
It started in her back legs then when
she reached 12 it had reached her front legs
and it hit hard and she could barely walk up
and down the stairs on the front porch.
About the same time she developed a skin infection
that wouldn't go away. She was so uncomfortable that she
was shaking from how much it itched.
We got medicated soap and gave her a bath every
week and it seemed to calm it down.
It didn't stop it from coming back though.
Six months after her birthday she couldn't walk
The last day she was alive she couldn't even walk
and when she did she just stood there, fell back down, or
had to be dragged to where you wanted her to go.
We took her to the vets office only to find out her system
was failing and he body was giving up. We decided to put
her down, because we would rather not have her suffer.
At approximetly 11:15 A.M. her heart stopped beating on the
vet office floor in my mothers arms never to wake up again.

This dog wasn't just a pet she was part of the family
I'm going to miss her...............
