Picture does not belong to me. Hecate Age: Very Old Gender: Female Race: Mage Personality: Quirky. Odd. Eccentric. Morbid. Sarcastic. Sardonic. Cynical. Inquisitive. Secretive. More info: She is a Mage who has lived long enough to refine her skills in all areas of magic. She seems particularly interested in alchemy and enchantments, however, and has several dolls that she has made into her own (mindless) personal minions. History: Born in 220 BC, Hecate was a very different person as a human. This is her story... "When I was born, it was cold and rainy. That's the first thing I could remember. I had a family once. A mother and father, two younger sisters, and an older brother. I loved them all but I loved my brother the most. I was not a blood relative. My surrogate parents found me when I was young, abandoned in the woods, and took me in. I do not remember who my real parents were or even if I have any blood relatives. I don't care to find out, either. I was given a name and a home and a loving family. I was happy for a time. One day, soldiers came to our home and burned it down. They took my father but my mother escaped with the rest of us. We ran and hid but when I asked her why they took Father away, she told me to shush and did not answer. My sisters asked if we would ever see him again and still she would not answer, hiding her tears from us. We never saw him again. I discovered his fate years later. We lived peacefully for five years and, though we missed Father, we lived happily enough. Brother taught me many things but he told me that I should never tell anyone about what he or mother knew. I never told anyone but our baby sister did not understand why it was important to keep silent. She didn't understand that magic was forbidden. Soldiers came again but this time only my brother and I were able to escape. Mother told us all to run but my sisters didn't follow us. We didn't see any of them ever again and brother didn't tell me what happened to them until we found a new place to live. When we finally settled down in a small village on the other side of the mountain, he told me about what our family was and why it was so important to keep silent about our talents. I didn't completely understand why it was a sin to practice magic but I did not question him because I loved and trusted him. For three more years, we lived together in the village. He worked at the neighbors farm and I kept the house. Somehow, we fell in love but it was short-lived. I was but fifteen years of age when I found out what happened to our family, completely by accident. Until that day, I had hoped and prayed that I would see my family again but they were in vain. I overheard a soldier talking about the witch-hunts and I locked myself in my room for many days. I went for a walk one day and a drunk soldier approached me and tried to force himself upon me. When I refused, he lashed out at me. Brother found me bruised and bleeding in the street before the soldier and his anger caused him to spill our deepest secret. He set the man on fire and he burned slowly and painfully until death took him but we lingered too long. Another soldier witnessed his use of magic and we were on the run again. We evaded the soldiers for a month. In a small village at the edge of the border, they finally caught up with us. We ran but their horses gave them speed and they were going to surround us. My brother told me to run as far away as I could and never look back. I cried and begged for him not to leave me alone but he told me that he would distract the men and I would be safe. He told me that he would meet me in the next village and I waited for many days but he never came. I discovered what became of him a week after. Broken, I wandered for days with very little food and water. One day, I discovered a barren wasteland and, in hopes of finally meeting my own end, I walked through it without ever turning back. Instead of death, however, I was found by a woman. She came to me and asked who I was. I told her my story and she looked at me long and hard before offering her hand. She told me that I was different, that I was meant to be something special and that she could give me enough power to deal revenge to those who took everything I cherished away from me. Blinded by my rage and despair, I took her hand and accepted. Such power was I given! So great and terrible. It made me joyous and fearful but I didn't discover my immortality until my fortieth birthday when I found no sign of age on my body. I did what I wanted to do. I took revenge for my surrogate parents and my sisters and my dear, beloved brother. I vowed to never love so deeply again and have kept it. Though my love and appreciation for Lilith is strong, I dislike her also for this curse. Demon blood was placed in me and it slowly caused me to go mad. At first, it was nothing more than a twitch. During the next 300 years, I found myself truly going mad. Voices of my past haunted me in the silence and I was always paranoid, looking over my shoulder every time I heard anything. Slowly, it turned into insanity and later malice and I became sadistic and cruel. I don't know if it was purposeful, but I know Lilith must have had some knowledge of what would happen to me before she offered me such a curse. However, I do not hate her nor love her more than a dear friend. She has been with me ever since that day but soon my life will finally come to an end. I have lived hundreds of years and my time will soon be up. In my opinion, I'm long overdue for a vacation. I will never gain peace in death but there are other ways... Fate shall look for me but she will never find me..." ----------------------------------- Recent News Hecate now struggles between reality and her own mind as it always seems to want to twist the world around her into something completely different. Half of the time she doesn't know if what she is seeing is really there or just a figment of her imagination. Over the years, Hecate has been collecting odds and ends of various rarities and values. She's been experimenting a lot more lately, and this isn't always good news. In fact, it's pretty bad news. Last time she mixed science and magic and accidentally set fire to her old home in the Haunted Woods. Tragic, but it gave her information. Certain types of chemicals do not mix well with some spells. Noted. The woods are gone now and the ghosts haunting them have been freed, much to her displeasure. She's currently...hm..."recovered" a "recently abandoned" resort and fixed it up. It is now her base of operations and houses her slowly growing army. Gosh, does she love minions. Such good test subjects they make-I mean, FRIENDS! Yes, friends. We like friends...Perhaps I should stop writing in third person... More later... Catie's Playlist
