Profile:
 (Pronounced: sin-ah care-ah) Latin for "Without Wax". This, ladies and gentlemen; boys and girls, is my mantra. My words to eat, drink, sleep, live, and thrive by.
Many, many years ago, when artists would make marble sculptures, they would cover up any cracks, chips, or flaws with wax that matched the color of the marble, effectively hiding these flaws. As you may have already guessed, those brave and/or truly skillful sculptors that weren't afraid of showing off the true beauty of their work - the ones who had nothing to hide - would stamp their works of art with these two simple words: Sine Cera, letting everyone know that they weren't ashamed. They were proud of their work, regardless of what other people thought.
I'm proud of who I am, flaws and all. After all, you get one chance at this thing called life. Why waste it with regret, sorrow, doubt, remorse, and judgment? So to those reading this, take these words into consideration: Just be you. You are beautiful, and no one can tell you different. No one is perfect, and therefore no one has the right to tell you how you should be, where you should go, or what you should do with your life. Do what makes you happy, and accept it when others do the same. If you've made it this far, good for you. I know this is a lot to read, but I'm tired of hiding. I'm sitting here at one thirty in the morning, and I've decided to put myself out there completely. By reading this you will learn more about me than many others who have known me for years. I'm tired of running, tired of hiding, and tired of keeping secrets. So, here I am. Without wax. Eyes: Green/blue/grey Build: Athletic/Little extra Shoe size: US Mens 4 Location: Prattville, Alabama Status: Single, not looking Occupation: Cashier - Walmart Race: Caucasian Religion: Agnostic Atheist (Yes, you can be both) Political Views: Libertarian Education: Sophomore at Auburn University at Montgomery Specifics If you've not already drawn this conclusion from my nicknames, I'm in a wheelchair. I was born with a congenital birth defect known as Spina Bifida. Basically, this means that the nerves in my lower body didn't form correctly, so I have very little feeling below the knees and my legs aren't strong enough to hold up my weight. Along with not being able to walk, it has also caused me to not have full control of my bladder and bowels, so I have to wear diapers. Also something you should have gathered by now, I'm an open book. If you have any questions whatsoever, about any aspect of my life, feel free to ask. No matter how personal it may be. You will not offend me. I consider myself to be one of the most open-minded people I've ever known, and I'm damn proud of this fact. I blame this mostly on my parents. They are both two incredibly different, amazing people. Neither of them are perfect. They've both made mistakes, but they've been able to admit that, which is much better than I can say for most people. They've taught me that it's okay to be human, and I will be forever grateful for that. My wonderful mother gave birth to me 25 years ago in a town in Texas called Wichita Falls. I only spent the first few months of my life there, however, so I have no memory of it. One of these days I'll go back there, but who knows when that'll be. Since then, I've lived in several different cities in Texas and Alabama. I moved around a lot because my parents split when I was three years old, and they were both Armed Forces, so not only was I switching between parents a lot, I was also moving whenever they'd get restationed. This was both a blessing and a curse, looking back. A blessing because I got to see so many wonderful places and meet so many wonderful people along the way; each and every one of them helping to shape me into the person I am today. A curse because each of those people and places I discovered were whisked away from me far too soon. In some cases it was only a year before I was being relocated. Overall I'd say I had a happy and content childhood. Definitely not what I would call perfect. I was abused mentally as I grew up for several years, finally putting an end to it only a few years ago when I learned to stand up for myself. Though in several occasions I was miserable, I hold no grudge toward the person who abused me. I learned from it, and I think I've grown and become a better person because of it. Once I got into high school, I made my mom promise to keep me where I was until I graduated, mostly because I hoped to keep some friends and put an end to the abuse. This was in Angleton, Texas, at Angleton High School, and has thus far been one of the most amazing chapters of my life. Here, I met some of the most amazing people in the world, some of which I hope to never lose touch with. I did a lot of growing up in Angleton, and I will forever consider it my home town. Unfortunately, my friends weren't the only thing that caused me to grow up and mature through this time in my life. During high school I began suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease. I went through surgeries, numerous kidney infections, countless hospital stays, and pain I've been told is kin to child birth. Luckily for me, in the last few years, my CKD has stabilized due to the tenacity of my parents, the medical prowess of some amazing doctors, and sheer luck on my part.. My kidney function has come to rest around 25%, and I hope it stays there as long as possible. Although I said I would stay in Angleton until I graduated, I decided after a semi-completed senior year that it was time to start a new chapter in my life, so I moved in with my father in Alabama. Here I attended night school for a few weeks at Chapman Christian Academy, where my two younger step-brothers were also attending. This is where I actually graduated from, although I still consider Angleton High School my main high school. After graduating I took a year off to relax, and then enrolled at Auburn Montgomery as a business/information systems major. I chose this path because from a very young age I've been interested in computers. This is mostly due to the fact that my father has been a computer programmer for the Air Force since long before I was born. He still works as one on a civilian level to this day. AUM has also been a tremendous learning experience, not only on an academic level, but on a personal level as well. I found love, found best friends, and lost it all in the blink of an eye. I have no one to blame for this but myself, but I will not let it get me down. I will move on, move forward, and keep my head held high. I think that's all you can really ask for in this world. Hopefully these trials and tribulations are the sign of a new, even better chapter to come... I'm not going to just list everything I like here. That would be too easy, and it would leave us with almost nothing to talk about. If you want to know every little thing I enjoy, strike up a conversation with me. I won't bite unless you ask me to. Think of this list here as the foundation of what makes me tick. The core elements of my happiness. The things I simply cannot live without. Art is my drug. The most powerful drug I've ever used. It brings great joy to my heart to see people expressing themselves in any way possible. Whether it's dance, painting, film, sculpting, music, or anything else that could ever be considered art. Music, however, is my crack. I love music more than life itself. I would rather lose my sense of touch, taste, sight, and smell rather than just my hearing. I believe that every single piece of music ever created has a special message it can convey, and for that reason I could never even think of confining myself to only one or two genres. As you'll see below, I have bands from every single genre imaginable on my playlist. If you know of something I don't have, please let me know. I'd love to give them a try. Food sounds like an obvious answer, but it's true. In a way, I consider food to be an art form. The possibilities of what you can do with it, the ways you can combine it, the flavors you can mix, all limitless. I love trying new things, and I'm so incredibly surprised that I don't weigh three hundred pounds with how much I love food. It boggles the mind to even begin thinking about the poor, unfortunate souls that don't like to eat. Computers. You probably already knew this if you read anything above this. I love computers, whether it's on the Internet, playing games, or just sitting here typing like I am now. Computers are my gateway to a new universe. You can go anywhere, learn anything, do anything. I know I wouldn't be the same person I am now if it weren't for computers and everything they've taught me over the years. Friends. This one really needs no explaining in my opinion. Friends are there to hold you up when you're too weak to do it yourself. I know that if I had my music and my friends, I wouldn't need anything else in this world to live a happy, full life. I would take a bullet for each and every one of my friends, and smile while doing it. Books. This one sort of goes along with computers. There are very few ways to better expand your horizons, broaden your mind, deepen your understanding of everything there is to understand than digging into a good book. There has been more than one occasion where I've credited a major change in my life to a book. Some of my favorite books are the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, Hatchet (or anything by Gary Paulsen), Going Bovine, Harry Potter, and of course Goosebumps. Conversations. No, I don't mean "Hey, what's up? How's it going?" That's not a conversation. I mean the kind of conversations where you actually learn something about someone. Where you talk about something you've never talked about before. Debate something meaningful with more than just, "No, you're wrong!" I'm always up for any kind of debate with someone as long as you're mature about it and refrain from petty name-calling and mud-slinging. Swimming. This one's obvious to me, seeing as how I'm in a wheelchair. Swimming is pretty much the only way I can free myself of my every day restraints. When I swim, I'm someone else. I'm free to move how and where I want. It must be how a bird feels when it takes flight for the first time, no longer feeling the hard, unforgiving ground beneath its feet. Affection. Okay, so I'm a ham. I love physical contact of almost any variety. Whether it's a light touch on the shoulder or a full on cuddling session. Also, in my opinion, cuddling is better than sex. I would much rather just lie there in someone's arms, listening to the sound of their heart, the rise and fall of their chest, feeling their warm skin against mine as time slips away and becomes meaningless. To me, there is nothing greater. Originality. I respect and admire anyone on this Earth who has the confidence to just be themselves without worry of who agrees or disagrees with their views and beliefs. I don't care if you do drugs, have promiscuous sex, or get off by wearing stockings and strangling yourself in the closet. As long as you are who you are, openly, and aren't afraid of the consequences, you're a-okay in my book. Once again, this is not to list every single thing that irks me. This is to tell you the things that I simply will not put up with in my life. Earlier, I said that you should accept what others do that makes them happy. I believe this whole-heartedly, and for this reason I will never condemn you for doing any of the things on this list. That does not, however, mean that I should have to put up with it in my life. Intolerance of any sort is what disgusts me the most. Whether it's of a certain race, a lifestyle choice, music choice, hairstyle, religion, or anything else you could possibly dislike someone for. Life is too damn short to harbor so much hatred. As one of the core beliefs of my religion states, as long as what you do does not directly effect the quality of my life or my loved ones' lives, more power to you. Do you. That's all there is to it. People who don't respond to my comments but still come and look at my profile. Have some decency, people. Just because you reply to me doesn't mean you've committed to a long-term relationship. If you don't like me or my profile, a friendly "Thanks." will more than suffice. Not replying at all just makes me think you're a lazy snob. I reply to EVERY comment I get, and on the extremely rare occasions that I don't, it's not because I don't like you. I'm probably just really busy and have forgotten. Try me again and I'll reply. This was a short list, I know. You have to realize that intolerance is a very large, ugly umbrella. Racism, sexism, and many other things all fit under it. These, and the things they cause, are pretty much the only things that I cannot stand in my life. As long as you face things with an open mind and are willing to test your limits, your views, your beliefs, and yourself, you and I will get along just fine. Life is about learning, evolving, and changing who you are for the better. You can't do that if you refuse to accept anyone else's opinions and admit that maybe you might be wrong about something every now and then. Bolds are favorites. Underlines are ones I've seen live.
