so wave gotik treffen was pretty awesome, partied hard, promoted VF, saw some great bands and made some cool new friends. =) will post up an extensive journal update with pictures shortly.
on another note - whats up with the haters lately? saw the recent drama on the last vf post, plus i recently got called a 'trust fund' kid. and someone said that the triton festival lineup was 'politics'. man some people just dont have a clue.
anyway, glad to be back on VF!
and Kinetik Festival in Montreal - starting tomorrow!
Casey the baby bat who is mad at the world and thinks everyone owes him something, also thinks that the off shoot of the goth scene should not be mixed or mingle and it taints it. He blames promoters and people like Jet for this.
In Germany for wave gotik treffen spreading some VF love with stickers and partying it up. Then off to kinetik festival in Montreal soo not too many VF updates from me for a bit so I hope you guys are holding up ok. Miss my Internet peeps
I'm not angry at all. I just think it's funny you little boys swear to be so mature yet you keep coming back for more. As I posted earlier about the point I made. Aufwiedersehen homos!
wgt i was there last year and i wanted to go there too this year, but i have to save some money for other things and bills since i moved to my boyfriend.
Oh. My. Goodness. The number of grammatical errors thrown in with all the cheap insults. I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or pity those for their complete lack of intelligence and total ignorance. On another note, I'm glad you had a lovely time in Germany jet

Flyer Posted Plus Full Lineup Announced!
Last 5 bands announced:
The Birthday Massacre
[Toronto, Canada :: Metropolis Records]
Voted 'Favorite Band' by the members of VampireFreaks, The Birthday Massacre has had a huge following on the VampireFreaks site (and worldwide) for years now. The band was formed in 1999 and independently produced and recorded their first two albums, Nothing and Nowhere and Violet. Due to their independent success, in 2005 they were approached and signed by Metropolis Records and the band began its steady climb to reaching a much wider audience, and now has a total of 5 studio albums. In the last few years, the band has been performing internationally, traveling extensively across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, the U.K. and Europe.
London After Midnight was formed in the 1990s by Sean Brennan. Unlike most music projects, LAM has retained and nurtured the progressive political and socially aware element of the later punk scene that virtually vanished from the music scene in the early 90s. London After Midnight has headlined and co-headlined concerts and major festivals around the world to crowd of over 30,000 people with bands like The Cure, Green Day, HIM, and countless other major artists. Each of London After Midnight's releases have charted in the top 10 and top 20 of the European DAC and alternative charts. This will be LAM's first NYC performance in over 5 years.
Modulate have supported Alec Empire, VNV Nation and Combichrist on major international tours as well as numerous national and international festival appearances, headline tours and shows around the world. After scoring dancefloor success with his own material, Skullfuck, Detonation and Robots releases, Modulate has become one of the hottest remixers in the alternative electro scene. The bands most recent release, Robots, gave them their biggest hit yet, peaking at #3 in the German Alternative Chart, giving them their first magazine cover and receiving rave reviews across the media...stamping their way into many journalists and broadcasters Best Of 2012 charts.
Voltaire is often described as a modern day renaissance man. He is a singer/ performer, creator of comic books, animation and toys. As a musician, he is a songwriter whose music can best be described as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star Wars to keep a Con audience rolling in the aisles. Many know him for his song "Brains!" from the Cartoon Network show "The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy". Voltaire's live shows are highly theatrical -full of stories and games. The theatrical quality of his performances is not surprising; Voltaire has been directing commercials and animating short films for the last twenty years.
First taking the stage in 2011, Candy Brain has blended inspiration from synth pop, industrial rock, and various video game soundtracks to deliver a hard hitting, yet melodic experience with lyrical concepts of love, irony, and comic books. Having shared the stage with acts such as BILE, Orgy, Davey Suicide, and Vampire Everywhere, Candy Brain has developed a continuously growing cult following, and ravages the stage with presence and energy.
I'm really looking forward to attending this event! I've worked things out so that I will be spending less money than originally anticipated and I'm going with my sister who is totally badass when it comes to rocking out! Woohooo
Just in time for their new album "Tears on Tape", these "love metal" rockstars from Finland have amassed a huge worldwide fanbase and have been producing records for over 20 years.
Jet catches up with Ville Vallo and talks about the sounds of the new album, his dad's sex shop, life as a sex symbol, the current state of the goth scene, his tower in finland, and his thoughts on kids and marriage. And since the girls kept asking - no he's not married! LOL
"Not yet, not that I know of. I’m the lone wolf in the band, so maybe one day. When you’re in a band it takes a lot of your energy. It takes a lot of your time. It’s good and bad. Its something that you have to dedicate yourself to, otherwise it won’t go anywhere. I am happy for the rest of the guys…My bass player being married happily for fucking 11 years. The drummer has got a kid. The keyboarder has a couple of kids. So does our guitar player. I’m happy and kinda jealous of them. That they can juggle between those two things, being a dad and being a rock and roller as well. I still haven’t learned how to. "
Few bands have been more influential in my life than Stabbing Westward. They were one of the few industrial bands in the 90s to get regular radio play and MTV airplay (back when MTV actually showed music videos). I listened to their first 3 albums over and over again to the point where I had memorized all the songs and knew all the lyrics.
In 2002 Stabbing Westward broke up and 'The Dreaming' was born, founded by Stabbing Westward frontman "Christopher Hall". The new music is a great follow-up to Stabbing Westward, with the same singer and vocal styles, and still having a fresh new sound. Out of the awesome lineup we have for Triton Festival this September, the band I am actually most looking forward to seeing is "The Dreaming". They will be performing a special set which includes Stabbing Westward songs.
In our interview with Christopher, he talks about why Stabbing Westward broke up, and what it's like to achieve 'mainstream' success in the music scene only to start all over again.
"Stabbing Westward broke up because the music industry became too hard for them. We had just lost our second record deal in 2 years and it became obvious that they were not going to be able to maintain the level of success that they had grown accustomed to. We recorded in high end expensive studios. We had guys to set up our gear every night and check us into hotels,we had luxury buses to ride and sleep in. we basically walked on stage and played and then drank and partied all night until someone tucked us in and then we did it all again the next day. Once the money dried up and they realized that they would have to travel in a van and set up their own gear and share hotel rooms they decided it wasn't worth it anymore. I disagreed. so the very next day Johnny and I started the Dreaming. "
THE DREAMING CD GIVEAWAY!!!
We're giving away 5 CD's from The Dreaming just for people who post on the interview with The Dreaming! Submit a comment on the interview for your chance to win!
I believe I read somewhere that he doesn't really listen to other music. There's too much music in his head or something so instead he mostly listens to NPR. I also think I read that he's pretty short.

been fixing some minor bugs, so you should see a few things fixed around here. =)
also fixing up the VF mobile site, I know there's a few pages which are still not totally mobile optimized so i've been working on it.
if there's any site bugs that have been bothering you let me know!
Having the same bug issue as enter_the_fang_zoneI agree with you Lethe, but I've seen cases where a person has been power bombed up to 10x and nothing happened. They still had their account's. And when us premiums DO power bomb a free user, we have to give a reason for power bombing.
I looked at topjournals and while your entries are "public" and highly rated they won't appear on topjournals. I was looking for a button or tick box to have the same option.
what's been happening with the layouts. I tried to create a layout using the printed existence generator and it no longer works. plus the pre-made layouts have been removed, was wondering what was up?
May 23rd-26th in Montreal, Canada.
VF is a proud sponsor of Kinetik Festival, it's a fun time and we are happy to attend for the 5th year in a row. http://festival-kinetik.net/
XP8 is currently fundraising for their next album "ADRENOCHROME".
Adrenochrome is based on a story written by Marko, one half of XP8, in the late 1990’s and recently revised. It takes place in the not so distant future in a third recession London.
Looks like they've already past their initial goal and they're going for the stretch goals of a vinyl release and a new video! Click here for XP8 fundraiser
Ah! we had that conversation very fucked, i didn't think you would remember.I get a percentage, because you're either selling me off, or my kidneys. The least you can do is feed me drugs!
So any VF members going to Wave Gotik Treffen?
It's only the largest gothic-industrial festival in the universe!
I'll be there as well as some other NYC peeps, let us know if you're coming and want to meetup and / or help us do some VF promotions! =)
Recovery and "The Scene": Getting Through The Weirdness
First, a big disclaimer. I don’t know everything about addiction. I don’t pretend to know what motivates each individual person to make bad calls and dive headfirst into the abyss. I just know what I went through and go through on a daily basis. I’m no expert, but I get asked about it a lot so I thought I’d share some of my experience doing this music stuff as a recovering alcoholic. ...click here to read more
Label Me/Don't Label Me
I’ll put this out there pretty simply: I don’t need a label to release my music. I don’t say that with any intended arrogance or as a middle finger to any label I am , or have been, on. I just don’t. Neither do you, really. Neither does anyone these days. ...click to read more

Labels and Artists: So Many Stalled Out Cars
This is going to sound like a really shitty thing to say, but I can't understand why a majority of artists are signed to labels these day.
I don't say this because there's not immense talent on labels. I don't say this because they don't deserve exposure and aren't well meaning. I say this because I don't see how the hell these artists could possibly recoup from a business standpoint. ...click to read more
