Diocletion,was both intelligent and strong willed,qualities that make a leader dance to a tune,different from the bland elevator tunes that the majority of folks and folkettes of the female persuasion,and some that aren't of the female persuasion listen to,and thus,he ruled for twenty six years.He was liked by the majority of romans,both in and out of the army,and during his reign,two german tribes,the quadi and the marcomanni,invaded roman territory.Diocletian and his army marched to the rhine.He and the army attacked the tribes,drove them back across the rhine,and then he ordered that the roman forts along the rhine be resupplied with men and weapons.With the borders of the empire secured,diocetian turned his attention to the sarmatians of russia.He attacked their tribes,and though he won several battles,the russian lands were too vast,so diocletian pulled his forces out of russia.He then decided to attack the sassanid empire of persia,which he did,and after winning several battles inside persian territory,the king of the sassanid empire,bahram II,sent an envoy of peace to diocletians camp.The two leaders met,and bahram told diocletian that he wanted to be a friend to rome,and then declared that if diocletian would agree to sign a peace treaty,he would give the territory of armenia to the roman empire.Diocletian agreed.The two leaders signed the peace treaty,and diocletian was hailed as the founder of eternal peace in rome.
That's what was going on in the mortal affairs of the false reality.Here's what was going on in the immortal circle of unlife.Many vampires that hated rome,narhabal included,began to realize that diocletian was a strong intelligent ruler,and that he had not only restored the borders of the roman empire and made them strong again,but he had invaded two foreign powers,conquered one,added it to the empire,which increased it's size and power,and was now pondering on a second invasion of russia.To the vampires that hated rome,it seemed that diocletian might recreate the roman empire into a bigger monster than it had previously been.This,they decided,could not be allowed to happen,and they began pondering on ways to destroy the wretched empire.Sadly for them,every time they tried to create chaos within the empire,roman vampires,whose power had increased due to the success of the emperor,and thus,they had more ways to inforce that power,found ways to defeat the plans of the rebels,and then,they slowly began to hunt the rebels,and when a group of rebels were found,they were attacked,and usually destroyed.The reign of diocletian was a good time for roman vampires,and roman venture,toreador,and brujah thought up a name for this time.They called it,the golden venture,the name implying that it was a time of prosperity,and that that prosperity seemed to have no end.Narhabal,and his companions,stayed with the army,and continued to fight on the side of rome,all the while pondering on ways to destroy rome from within,but with each roman victory,narhabal got madder.Why he wondered,did the emperor not suffer from the effects of greed,as every emperor before him had.Why was he content to conquer,and then distribute the spoils of war to all that had helped him,which was quite unlike his predecessors,and quite unnatural to the human condition in general.Did he understand the concept that absolute power,corrupts absolutely?If that was so,and the ventrue really pondered on that idea,then they might decide to either ghoul the emperor,or worse,embrace him,and what then?Could a new empire,one ruled by the kindred and based on the concepts of rome,come into existence,and if so,could it survive?A new enoch?The thought of this,was too much for narhabal to take.He couldn't accept it.He couldn't deal with it.He didn't dig it.He began leaving the roman camp,and wandering through the towns all night,returning minutes before dawn.Carthena,neco,and sarasax,realized he was slowly losing his sanity,and they began to worry about him.They dared not voice their opinion to him though.At least not for awhile,but as the nights went on and narhabals madness got worse,he became unpredictable.He began to challenge the mortals around him,which is a dangerous thing to do,even for a vampire.If even one mortal suspected that there were supernatural beings in their midst,he would tell others,and the others,out of fear,would try to destroy them,and they could succeed.
This was bad mojo,and narhabals companions knew they had to do something.He could not be allowed to continue on the path he was taking.One night.after narhabal had left the tent,neco,carthena,and sarasax began to discuss what they should do.Though the idea of destroying narhabal entered into their minds,they never spoke of it,and instead pondered on either staking him,then leaving and taking him somewhere,far from the roman empire,and then they would decide what to do from there,or,talking to narhabal,and trying to get him to stop doing what he was doing and re access the situation.Both plans,were dangerous,but they had no other choice.They decided to talk to narhabal first,and hope they could get him to calm down.
Dawn came,as it always does,and narhabal arrived back at the tent a few minutes before the sun rose.He was not in good shape mentally.There was a fire in his eyes,that showed no sign of dying out.Sarasax took him,carthena,and neco into the earth,and after sleeping through the day,he brought them to the surface shortly after night came.Narhabal,barely spoke.He was consumed by anger,and hatred for rome,and his companions looked at each other.They all knew they had to say something,but they all feared what would happen if they did.
As narhabal walked toward the opening in the tent,carthena broke the deadlock.She walked in front of him,and smiled.She gently touched his cheek,and looked into his eyes,and kissed him.She hugged him,and then told him that she wanted him to stay with her.He told her he had to go out,but she insisted that he stay with her.Once again,he told her he could not stay,and once again,she insisted that he stay.He turned away from her,and paced around the tent,then asked why she wanted him to stay.
Seeing what carthena had done,neco gathered his courage.He approached his friend,and maker,and told him that the actions he was taking,put them all in danger,and that,perhaps it was time to leave,and go beyond the borders of rome for awhile,and there they could rethink their plans,and at another time,when the roman empire started to weaken,they would return,and help other vampires destroy it.
Narhabals eyes turned red with fury.He began pacing again,and then asked if the three vampires had become afraid of rome,and thus,no longer wanted to fight against it.Sarasax told narhabal,that that was not the case,but narhabal didn't seem to hear him.He heard only the sound of his beast as it raged inside him.He gripped the hilt of his sword.As carthena stepped toward him,and reached out to him,narhabal screamed that he was surrounded by traitors,and scared children.He quickly turned around,pulled his sword,and swung it.Carthenas eyes went wide in shock.For a second,she stood there,staring at narhabal.Then her head fell to the ground,followed by her body.Her blood poured out of her neck.A few seconds later,carthenas head and body turned grey,and then,turned into a pile of ashes.
Narhabal stood there,staring at the ashes of the woman that had been his best friend,and his lover.Neco and sarasax stood in silence,shocked at what they had just seen.Narhabal dropped his sword.Tears of blood came out of his eyes,and he fell to his knees.The anger was gone.Now there was only a terrible sadness.

Two emperors were dead,and narhabal had not been their killer,a fact that greatly disturbed him,and as we all know,the longer a brujahs anger stews within him or her,the more anal they get about everything.Rome,despite it's internal problems,and the fact that its emperors were all depraved nutcases,was still strong,and narhabal wanted it gone.As the army marched towards rome,he began pondering on ways to finally bring it down.Some might say that to think such a thing,is foolish,and that narhabal was out of touch with reality,and some might be right,but history has shown that sometimes,it's thouse that have the courage to embrace what seems to be impossible,that can either make the impossible possible,or inspire others to make what seems to be impossible possible,and fa la la la lanot alloweding on.
On november 3rd,284,numerian was found dead,and his older brother carinus,became the sole ruler of the roman empire.Shortly after becoming emperor,he marched into the germanic lands,and began to fight with the quadi tribe,and after achieving several victories,he returned to rome,and began to live a life of pleasure.For two years,he ate and fucked,and drank and fucked,and slept and fucked,and spent large sums of money,on more wine,food,and every luxury that money could buy,but on january 8th,285,when he got the news that an army was marching towards rome,and that the army had elected a new emperor,well,it made him very unhappy,well cuz,he was the emperor,and thus,he felt that he had to go teach the new fake emperor,that he couldn't have the throne.Carinus assembled his army,and left rome.He marched towards the army that was marching towards rome,and met it five months later at the margus river.The two armies clashed there,and after fighting a long battle,several of the soldiers decided to kill carinus.They sent an envoy to the new emperor diocletian,and then rushed through the ranks till they reached carinus.Then they killed him,and when the soldiers that were still loyal to carinus saw him die,they scattered.The battle ended,and the killers,along with the majority of the army,pledged their allegiance to diocletian.
Though narhabal and his companions had fought in the battle,and thus,in a sense,had helped diocletian to win the throne of rome,he wasn't happy,oh no no no no no.As each night passed,he got madder and madder and madder,and it became clear to his companions that he was losing his grip on both his sanity and reality.He kept insisting on gathering his forces,and attacking rome,but he had no forces,and thus,the idea was a fools jest.Sadly,as every being someday learns,rage is a beast,that often cannot be controlled,and thus,when unleashed,it can force one to do terrible things,and narhabals rage became so powerful that one night,it broke free of it's leash.
The events that followed,would push narhabal into insanity,and the result of that insanity,would lead to the destruction of the person that he cherished the most in the false reality.
