This is going to be long.

Sunday, May 12th: Landed in Berlin, we went to our hostel to check in. There was some kind of problem with our room, so we had to wait an hour before we could check in. After that one hour, there was still some problem, so they decided to give us an upgrade, free of charge. We had booked 1x8 persons room, with access to the hostels public bathroom. Now we had 2x4 persons room with a private bathroom for each room. We liked. We went upstairs, got ready, went out for dinner and then a walk around the neighborhood. We found some artistic alley, checked it out and found a pretty cool noise/indie/weird arts store where I bought a CD, my friend bought some tentacle porn book (not anime btw) and another friend bought some harsh noise on vinyl. Sat down at the bar next to the store, the guys got some beers before we headed home for some nice sleep.

Monday, May 13th: Woke up, took a shower before heading out. We got some breakfast at the mall that was 2 minutes away from our hostel. At the mall, I bought myself a very much needed, new laptop. Headed back to the hostel, returned the laptop and then went back out with the people out shopping. Found some nice goth shops, stuff was bought.
The night was pretty awesome, we headed to a goth club called Dunker Club, they always have monday goth parties. Met DJ SiSen (the most famous Asian DJ in the industrial scene) and partied hard with him until we walked home at 5 am.

Tuesday, May 14th: Woke up pretty late, due to the late night partying. I was gonna check out my laptop, but then I noticed it had a dead pixel. Took it back to the store to replace it, but they said they wouldn't replace it for less than 4 broken pixels and then it would take 2 weeks to replace the screen. Luckily, my friend is staying in Berlin until the 9th of June, so she can pick it up for me and I can get it when she gets back in June. So, I'm sorry, won't be able to cam or anything until then. Anyway.. after that, a day of shopping began. Stuff was bought. Later that night, me and 2 others went to a bar, sat down, talked and had some fun. Walked back, stopped for some food, met a Spanish guy and 2 Arabian/French girls, we ended up partying with them until 6 am.

Wednesday, May 15th: Woke up late, due to the partying the night before. This day was spent walking around the neighborhood, looking around and then sitting down at some square, people watching while eating ice cream before going home and getting to bed pretty early since we had to check out at 10 am the next day.

Thursday, May 16th: Woke up early, got ready to check out, checked out. Went to get breakfast at the mall. Then we stayed at the hostel lobby all day, because we didn't want to drag our luggage around the city until we had to board the train at 5. I fell asleep at some point during the wait. Bjössi, one of the guys that was with me had a date the night before, he spent the night and the whole day with the girl, showed up late and almost made us miss the train to Leipzig. He was slapped for this. Saw one of my best friends from Finland waiting for the same train (we had planned to meet up at the festival), so he, his girlfriend and 2 of his friends came and sat down next to us in the train. We got to Leipzig, me and Hlíðar waited in the line to get our tickets exchanged for the wristbands while the others took the luggage to our apartment. We got the wristbands, ate pizza, went to the apartments to get ready for NoiTekk Harsh Electro Night, where V2A, FGFC820 and Tactical Sekt were playing. It was a nice pre-party to WGT. While V2A were playing, I saw Rexx from FGFC820 walking, I asked to get a picture with him. Got a picture with him and he asked me to come back stage and meet the rest of FGFC820, Tactical Sekt, V2A and the whole crew. Man, that was fun. 820 and Sekt killed it that night, fucking hell they were good. After the show, me and my Finnish friends headed to Darkflower, got home around 5 am.

Friday, May 17th: The day WGT officially started. Woke up around 11, got ready to do some shopping. Things were bought. Went back to the apartment to get ready for the show tonight. Das Ich, The 69 Eyes, Abney Park and And One. I saw Das Ich back in 2008 and they were much better back then, Stefan hardly moved and Bruno was just being.. not cool. They were good, but no where near as good as they were back in 2008. I hadn't planned on seeing The 69 Eyes because I never liked them, but to be front and center at Abney Park, I had to go through them. They were not good. They looked like douche bags, tried too hard to be "rock stars", throwing their mic, drumsticks and such in the air and then dropping them. Just failure. Abney Park were fucking AMAZING! Easily among the best live performances I have ever seen. They did all my favorite songs. I got their setlist and my friend Hlíðar got a guitar pick from their guitarist. And One weren't all that good, the music was good, but the vocalist just can't sing live, which killed the performance for me, not good. Headed back to the apartment to get my friends for a night of partying at Moritzbastei, but they were too tired, so I went alone to meet other friends there. While walking, I heard someone say "Hi Iceland guy", I turned around and there they are, Abney Park, in all their glory. We talked for a few minutes and I got a picture of myself with them.
Went to Moritzbastei, partied until about 4 am, went home.

Saturday, May 18th: Woke up, took a shower, got some breakfast. Went out to meet some friends at the Agra Dark Market, didn't buy anything though. Went home to get ready for tonight's show. Aslan Faction, Velvet Acid Christ, Suicide Commando and Iszoloscope. Aslan Faction were really good, with their old school sounding dark electro. Velvet Acid Christ were interesting to see live, really good sounding and pretty funny. Now, Suicide Commando was what I had been waiting for that night, I was once again, front and center. Holy fucking shit, Johan was amazingly good, Dirk Geiger joined him on stage, that was great. The special rare vintage set Suicide Commando did worked perfectly, really good stuff. After Suicide Commando, I rushed from Agra to Moritzbastei to catch Iszoloscope. He was really good and crazy on the stage. He ended his set with a noise version of Axel F, that was funny. Ended up going to Darkflower to dance my ass off the rest of the night, got home around 6 am.

Sunday, May 19th: Woke up around 2 pm, feeling lazy as hell. Went downstairs to spike my Finnish friends hair. Finished that, took a shower and had planned to head out to catch Phosgore and Dirty K at Werk II. But I was feeling lazy, so I just stayed home until Incubite, Shiv-r and Noisuf-X were playing. Incubite were surprisingly good, I didn't expect them to be better than on CD, but they really were. I managed to get front and center for Shiv-r and Noisuf-X. Shiv-r were fucking AMAZING live, their outfits were really cool, Peter came out to the crowd and I got to sing/scream a few lines. Really good stuff. Next up: Noisuf-X. I saw them back in 2008, they were good then, but DAMN.. they were much much better this time. and Peter Crane of Shiv-r joined him on stage to do the Noisuf-X remix of God is Art, that was pretty damn cool. After the show, I headed to Darkflower for a night of dancing. Got home around 6:30 am and had planned to go to sleep. I find my friend (from the other apartment (we had 2x4 people apartments)) fucking a girl he met at Darkflower earlier, in my bed. He came out for a second to ask if it was okay if I sleep in the other apartment tonight (I was the only one who had a room/bed all for myself, the others had to share), I said sure.. they never answered, so I had to sleep on the closet floor until about 11 am, when they left. I had to use the extra blanket to cover the stains on the bed.. My back hurt after dancing all night and then sleeping on the floor.

Monday, May 20th: woke up late, feeling like shit after sleeping on the floor. Met my friends, did some shopping at Agra Dark Market. Managed to get front and center for KMFDM and VNV Nation. KMFDM were really good, really powerful stage performance, they looked cool and sexy and were just fun on stage.
VNV Nation were beyond amazing. I actually felt a tear when they played Illusion, simply wonderful. Ronan sure knows how to get the crowd wild. Their stage performance was awesome, Ronan made fun of Iceland after I screamed from the top of my lounges that we (me and my friends) were from Iceland, when he was talking about all the people from different countries that were there. Ronan knows how to have fun on stage, he tells a lot of jokes and laughs when the crowd goes wild. The only thing I didn't like about them, they didn't do an encore, but other than that.. amazing show. Great last show of the festival. After the show, 2 girls came up to me, that I had seen the night before at Darkflower. One of them asked if we were talking on here, she looked familiar, but I wasn't sure. Then I figured it out, yes we had. We met later at Darkflower and talked for a while before they had to leave to wake up early to catch the train to Berlin for their flight. Really nice people. After they went home, I headed to Moritzbastei to find some friends there. Walked home around 5 am, good last night of the festival.

Tuesday, May 21st: The day was spent quietly and lazy, headed to Sixtina during the evening with some friends.

Wednesday, May 22nd: We had planned to go to an amusement park, but the weather sucked ass, so we went to the zoo instead. The night was spent getting ready for going home.

Thursday, May 23rd: Woke up early, got ready to go out, went to the train station, got on the train to Berlin. Got to Berlin, took a taxi to Schönefeld airport. Got on the plain. Landed in Iceland. Got home. Feeling good, but tired.

Pictures shall be up soon, not sure if I can get the pictures from the camera with my old piece of shit laptop. If not, you'll have to wait until I get my new laptop back in June.
And now, I shall end this rant.

May 22 is World Goth Day. The Official World Goth Day site defines it as "a day where the goth scene gets to celebrate its own being, and an opportunity to make its presence known to the rest of the world"World Goth Day originated in the UK in 2009. BBC Radio 6 was looking at a number of music subcultures. Goth DJs Cruel Britannia and Martin OldGoth got an event up and running which was based around the goth music scene. It was decided that May 22 would be the day when this event would be held regularly. The whole point of world goth day was a tongue in cheek way of looking at the goth scene and how goths never take them self seriously. The tradition continued and spread outside the UK, with a website being initiated to coordinate and advertise events worldwide.World Goth Day celebrates the sub cultural aspects of the Goth subculture. Aspects of the culture like fashion, music and art are celebrated by fashion shows, art exhibitions and music performance in and around the gothrock, deathrock & post-punk scenes. Many of the events feature local goth & post-punk bands, and some have taken on a charity aspect with events in the UK and Australia supporting favoured charities like the UK Sophie Lancaster Foundation, a charity that tries to curb prejudice and hatred against subcultures. The event has evolved to be now celebrated by goths all around the world, including the UK, the US, Australia, Singapore and South Africa.

Triton Festival: Flyer + Last 5 Bands Announced!
May 14, 2013, 03:59:pm
Triton Festival: NYC, September 5th-7th
Flyer Posted Plus Full Lineup Announced!

Last 5 bands announced:
Birthday Massacre

The Birthday Massacre

[Toronto, Canada :: Metropolis Records]

Voted 'Favorite Band' by the members of VampireFreaks, The Birthday Massacre has had a huge following on the VampireFreaks site (and worldwide) for years now. The band was formed in 1999 and independently produced and recorded their first two albums, Nothing and Nowhere and Violet. Due to their independent success, in 2005 they were approached and signed by Metropolis Records and the band began its steady climb to reaching a much wider audience, and now has a total of 5 studio albums. In the last few years, the band has been performing internationally, traveling extensively across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, the U.K. and Europe.

London After Midnight

London After Midnight

[Los Angeles :: Metropolis Records, Trisol]

London After Midnight was formed in the 1990s by Sean Brennan. Unlike most music projects, LAM has retained and nurtured the progressive political and socially aware element of the later punk scene that virtually vanished from the music scene in the early 90s. London After Midnight has headlined and co-headlined concerts and major festivals around the world to crowd of over 30,000 people with bands like The Cure, Green Day, HIM, and countless other major artists. Each of London After Midnight's releases have charted in the top 10 and top 20 of the European DAC and alternative charts. This will be LAM's first NYC performance in over 5 years.

Modulate

Modulate

[United Kingdom :: Metropolis Records, Infacted Records]

Modulate have supported Alec Empire, VNV Nation and Combichrist on major international tours as well as numerous national and international festival appearances, headline tours and shows around the world. After scoring dancefloor success with his own material, Skullfuck, Detonation and Robots releases, Modulate has become one of the hottest remixers in the alternative electro scene. The bands most recent release, Robots, gave them their biggest hit yet, peaking at #3 in the German Alternative Chart, giving them their first magazine cover and receiving rave reviews across the media...stamping their way into many journalists and broadcasters Best Of 2012 charts.

Voltaire

Voltaire

[New York :: Projekt Records]

Voltaire is often described as a modern day renaissance man. He is a singer/ performer, creator of comic books, animation and toys. As a musician, he is a songwriter whose music can best be described as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star Wars to keep a Con audience rolling in the aisles. Many know him for his song "Brains!" from the Cartoon Network show "The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy". Voltaire's live shows are highly theatrical -full of stories and games. The theatrical quality of his performances is not surprising; Voltaire has been directing commercials and animating short films for the last twenty years.

Candy Brain

Candy Brain

[New York City]

First taking the stage in 2011, Candy Brain has blended inspiration from synth pop, industrial rock, and various video game soundtracks to deliver a hard hitting, yet melodic experience with lyrical concepts of love, irony, and comic books. Having shared the stage with acts such as BILE, Orgy, Davey Suicide, and Vampire Everywhere, Candy Brain has developed a continuously growing cult following, and ravages the stage with presence and energy.

Interview with HIM
May 14, 2013, 01:49:pm
VampireFreaks Presents:
An Interview with HIM

Just in time for their new album "Tears on Tape", these "love metal" rockstars from Finland have amassed a huge worldwide fanbase and have been producing records for over 20 years.
Jet catches up with Ville Vallo and talks about the sounds of the new album, his dad's sex shop, life as a sex symbol, the current state of the goth scene, his tower in finland, and his thoughts on kids and marriage. And since the girls kept asking - no he's not married! LOL

"Not yet, not that I know of. I’m the lone wolf in the band, so maybe one day. When you’re in a band it takes a lot of your energy. It takes a lot of your time. It’s good and bad. Its something that you have to dedicate yourself to, otherwise it won’t go anywhere. I am happy for the rest of the guys…My bass player being married happily for fucking 11 years. The drummer has got a kid. The keyboarder has a couple of kids. So does our guitar player. I’m happy and kinda jealous of them. That they can juggle between those two things, being a dad and being a rock and roller as well. I still haven’t learned how to. "

Interview with Christopher Hall of The Dreaming
May 13, 2013, 01:56:pm
Few bands have been more influential in my life than Stabbing Westward. They were one of the few industrial bands in the 90s to get regular radio play and MTV airplay (back when MTV actually showed music videos). I listened to their first 3 albums over and over again to the point where I had memorized all the songs and knew all the lyrics.
In 2002 Stabbing Westward broke up and 'The Dreaming' was born, founded by Stabbing Westward frontman "Christopher Hall". The new music is a great follow-up to Stabbing Westward, with the same singer and vocal styles, and still having a fresh new sound. Out of the awesome lineup we have for Triton Festival this September, the band I am actually most looking forward to seeing is "The Dreaming". They will be performing a special set which includes Stabbing Westward songs.

In our interview with Christopher, he talks about why Stabbing Westward broke up, and what it's like to achieve 'mainstream' success in the music scene only to start all over again.

"Stabbing Westward broke up because the music industry became too hard for them. We had just lost our second record deal in 2 years and it became obvious that they were not going to be able to maintain the level of success that they had grown accustomed to. We recorded in high end expensive studios. We had guys to set up our gear every night and check us into hotels,we had luxury buses to ride and sleep in. we basically walked on stage and played and then drank and partied all night until someone tucked us in and then we did it all again the next day. Once the money dried up and they realized that they would have to travel in a van and set up their own gear and share hotel rooms they decided it wasn't worth it anymore. I disagreed. so the very next day Johnny and I started the Dreaming. "

I believe I read somewhere that he doesn't really listen to other music. There's too much music in his head or something so instead he mostly listens to NPR. hmm I also think I read that he's pretty short. lol

Horton Hires A Ho by Dr Seuss
May 12, 2013, 02:08:am
Horton Hires a Ho:

On the fifteenth of June, in the slums of the Valley

With his dirty coke spoon, in the dark of an alley,

He was whizzing in public…one of life’s greatest joys…

When Horton the Whorehunter heard a small noise.

So Horton stopped piddling and he looked for the sound.

“Disappointing,” thought Horton. “Not a voyeur around.”

Then he heard it once more! A mere hint of applause.

And he saw her red nails that she brandished like claws.

“Hey fella,” said Sheila. “Do you need help to shake it?

Or if you've got fifty bucks, then we might even make it.”

“I say!” spluttered Horton. “I’ve never paid more,

Than a buck and a half for a two dollar whore.

Do you know what I think? In a competitive market,

The cheapest garage is the place I will park it.

If you'll charge by the minute for the space you will rent,

Then, I'll agree, it is money well spent.”

“Well, I've never met such a cheap, dirty bastard!

Do you shotgun some Lysol, when you want to get plastered?!

Per-minute is fine for a cellular phone,

Not for 'laying some pipe' or to 'bury the bone'”.

So, slowly, and using the greatest of care,

Horton held out a twenty in the cool evening air,

And from his soiled trunk the bill she did pluck,

And he grinned as he spoke, “Nice shoes. Wanna walk?”

“Humpf!” humpfed a voice, it was Candi the Crone,

Whose toothless gum jobs were a treat for the bone,

“Why, in all of my years, you never gave me a twenty

Though for nickels and dimes I've given you plenty!”

“Believe me,” said Horton. “for the width of your girth,

A dime for a deed is as much as you're worth.

Though you must have been hot in the Carter Administration,

You're now just a notch above self masturbation.”

“So, please,” Horton said, “as a personal favour,

Take a hike down the street while I try a new flavour.”

“I think you’ve been fooled!” said the Crone. “Do you care?”

And she left in a huff in her rusted wheelchair.

“Hey, I was kidding! Please don't feel hurt!

If I've got any left, I'll see you for dessert!”

And he turned to where Sheila had been standing and waiting,

But found empty street clad in asphalt and plating.

And Horton ran, screaming, for almost an hour.

'Til he lay down defeated, with his face in a glower.

And I told him, “I hope there's a lesson you've learned,

About loyalty, dignity, and the pain of those spurned.”

And he said, “Yes, indeed. It's a lesson I'll treasure,

'Bout the folly of money in the pursuit of pleasure.”

And I heard him exclaim as he zipped up his pants.

“Take it from me — never pay in advance!”
