So it's been almost a year (I think) since I've been on here.
Thought I'd give ya'll an update on like... life.
So I took spinning to a new level in my life when last year I put a few things in a backpack and did a tour across the US teaching at festivals and performing. I did the San Francisco Fire Expo again, as well as FLAME Festival down in Georgia, and IgNight in SoCal. Then I loitered around Cali for a while.
Came back to NYC, went to work, and then on a whim I went to Burning Man - so essentially by that I mean I rolled around in Playa Dust for 8 days and didn't really sleep.

Oh yeah, this one was pretty cool. I got voted into the Top Poi Spinners of 2012. It didn't quite sink in until recently what that meant.
It's like... top 10 in the world. I'm pretty stoked about that. It stroked my ego for a little bit, but once that wore off I could actually appreciate it - and I've been really humbled by it.
This year I plan on doing another tour, I've already gotten confirmed for 2 fire festivals to teach at, and then I'll probably make my way back to California for a bit before I relocate to Boston.
I'm constantly awed by what you've done for yourself and with yourself I bet if I told you what... 4 years ago? ... how amazing you would be now you would have laughed at me.
Somehow, the fact that you made it into that top ten (while it is exciting as fuck) doesn't surprise me. You are really amazing and I CANNOT believe how quickly you have accomplished this. You are an inspiration
Dude...that's awesome. I can't express how envious I am that you can just drop everything and go for it. Kudos to you sir, hope good times continue to come your way
i hope everyone is starting their summer out with some fun stuffs to do ~ i cannot believe it but it's already over 100 degrees here in the desert. and the cacti are all in bloom, every year they blow me away with all the color! how i love them. so, i've been keeping pretty busy... busy in so many ways! as some of you know james and i welcomed our sweet little boy 2 months ago and we are loving him so much! of course he is magic, amazing, beautiful, wise, advanced beyond his time, brilliant and an all-around genius. a new member of the band.
speaking of "the band", i'm starting to put some musical thoughts together, it's actually something that i thought i was going to do last year but A Winter Gathering took hold... so now it's starting to come around once again. the seeds are starting to get planted i guess you can say, for a tasty garden of musical treat-ness.
in other news, we are in the midst of re-working the main site (www.shaunaburns.com) a touch for the summer, we are fiddling around now and hopefully you will see the new-ish-ness soon. i'll let you know.
we are/have been doing a fun "song of the week" on the facebook music page (www.facebook.com/shaunaburnsmusic). it's been fun going back into the catalogue and listening to songs... and the videos! memories! i hope you guys are enjoying the trip down memory lane too.
