The Birthday Massacre
[Toronto, Canada :: Metropolis Records]
Voted 'Favorite Band' by the members of VampireFreaks, The Birthday Massacre has had a huge following on the VampireFreaks site (and worldwide) for years now. The band was formed in 1999 and independently produced and recorded their first two albums, Nothing and Nowhere and Violet. Due to their independent success, in 2005 they were approached and signed by Metropolis Records and the band began its steady climb to reaching a much wider audience, and now has a total of 5 studio albums. In the last few years, the band has been performing internationally, traveling extensively across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, the U.K. and Europe.
London After Midnight was formed in the 1990s by Sean Brennan. Unlike most music projects, LAM has retained and nurtured the progressive political and socially aware element of the later punk scene that virtually vanished from the music scene in the early 90s. London After Midnight has headlined and co-headlined concerts and major festivals around the world to crowd of over 30,000 people with bands like The Cure, Green Day, HIM, and countless other major artists. Each of London After Midnight's releases have charted in the top 10 and top 20 of the European DAC and alternative charts. This will be LAM's first NYC performance in over 5 years.
Modulate have supported Alec Empire, VNV Nation and Combichrist on major international tours as well as numerous national and international festival appearances, headline tours and shows around the world. After scoring dancefloor success with his own material, Skullfuck, Detonation and Robots releases, Modulate has become one of the hottest remixers in the alternative electro scene. The bands most recent release, Robots, gave them their biggest hit yet, peaking at #3 in the German Alternative Chart, giving them their first magazine cover and receiving rave reviews across the media...stamping their way into many journalists and broadcasters Best Of 2012 charts.
Voltaire is often described as a modern day renaissance man. He is a singer/ performer, creator of comic books, animation and toys. As a musician, he is a songwriter whose music can best be described as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star Wars to keep a Con audience rolling in the aisles. Many know him for his song "Brains!" from the Cartoon Network show "The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy". Voltaire's live shows are highly theatrical -full of stories and games. The theatrical quality of his performances is not surprising; Voltaire has been directing commercials and animating short films for the last twenty years.
First taking the stage in 2011, Candy Brain has blended inspiration from synth pop, industrial rock, and various video game soundtracks to deliver a hard hitting, yet melodic experience with lyrical concepts of love, irony, and comic books. Having shared the stage with acts such as BILE, Orgy, Davey Suicide, and Vampire Everywhere, Candy Brain has developed a continuously growing cult following, and ravages the stage with presence and energy.
Just in time for their new album "Tears on Tape", these "love metal" rockstars from Finland have amassed a huge worldwide fanbase and have been producing records for over 20 years.
Jet catches up with Ville Vallo and talks about the sounds of the new album, his dad's sex shop, life as a sex symbol, the current state of the goth scene, his tower in finland, and his thoughts on kids and marriage. And since the girls kept asking - no he's not married! LOL
"Not yet, not that I know of. I’m the lone wolf in the band, so maybe one day. When you’re in a band it takes a lot of your energy. It takes a lot of your time. It’s good and bad. Its something that you have to dedicate yourself to, otherwise it won’t go anywhere. I am happy for the rest of the guys…My bass player being married happily for fucking 11 years. The drummer has got a kid. The keyboarder has a couple of kids. So does our guitar player. I’m happy and kinda jealous of them. That they can juggle between those two things, being a dad and being a rock and roller as well. I still haven’t learned how to. "
Okay, I may be out of line here, but of course I'm going to say it anyway...
Am I the only one who's disgusted to my VERY core by STUPID little pet names people give each other? Like "Pookie, (Insert overly pathetic cutesy name here)cakes, kitten, baby doll, kitten whiskers, sugar puss." You know, those kind of names? I just look at people and think 'There is no fucking possible way you're that dumb, right?'... Wrong. Dumb as a sack of rocks, or overly attached.
*sigh* As I said, I may be out of line, but if a man or woman tried calling me something like that I'd probably punch them in the teeth.
I have a name for a reason, people should learn to use it. SO! Let's forget I said that for a moment, what are your thoughts on 'overly cutesy pet names'? Yay or Nay? Why?
Ohh I get what you mean. That bothers me too. A lot. See, I'm straight, and what bothers me is if I get hit on a lot by another woman. And some girl kept inboxing me every day and calling me "Babe" and "Babygirl" and all kinds of pet names. I hate that. Idk, and I always heard that if you're not straight, it's disrespectful to hit on someone who is and especially is married. That's the only person I can think of who has really done that to me. One thing that super irritates me isn't a pet name, but it's people calling me Sam. I'm not sure why, but that irritates the hell out of me.
I never had a problem with any gender hitting on me, it's just a matter of whether or not they respect my wishes when I ask them to stop. I don't particularly care for people who try to bend over and kiss my feet, hitting on me is no different.Ah, kind of like people calling me Rebecca. I hate it... I present myself as a woman who is refined, tactful, poised, reserved, with an heir of nobility at all times. I never let this waver. However, even though I know it'd help that image, I can't allow people to call me Rebecca. It's too formal. Ironic, wouldn't you say?
Exactly! I kept asking her to stop and she'd respond with, "Aw, but I don't mean anything by it. It makes me happy, but okay." Like wtf, it makes you happy, so I'm not allowed to be uncomfortable? Some people are stupid. It didn't bother me the first day, but she just wouldn't leave me alone ever. It went on for months til I finally blocked her because she almost had me to the point to where I quit VF because I was being harassed. I totally understand you there! I hate Sam because it's short and has no personality. And it sounds stupid when people call me that. I didn't mind it in high school, but when people call me that now, it drives me insane. I think people should listen to us and call us how we want to be called.
Honestly I don't give a fuck what people call each other in a relationship, they could call each other "boo boo kitty fuck" for all I care. If someone ever did try to give me a pet name I would just ask them what the fuck that was. Then a massive playful insult exchange would take place and everything would be ok.
Paint the sky
A forbidden blue
Paint your eyes
The season of youth
Paint the stars
With brilliant shine
Paint me a heart
You will know is mine
An electric storm
With rain that melts
All stress away
Paint me wings
So I can learn
To leave the nest
And simply fly away.

Few bands have been more influential in my life than Stabbing Westward. They were one of the few industrial bands in the 90s to get regular radio play and MTV airplay (back when MTV actually showed music videos). I listened to their first 3 albums over and over again to the point where I had memorized all the songs and knew all the lyrics.
In 2002 Stabbing Westward broke up and 'The Dreaming' was born, founded by Stabbing Westward frontman "Christopher Hall". The new music is a great follow-up to Stabbing Westward, with the same singer and vocal styles, and still having a fresh new sound. Out of the awesome lineup we have for Triton Festival this September, the band I am actually most looking forward to seeing is "The Dreaming". They will be performing a special set which includes Stabbing Westward songs.
In our interview with Christopher, he talks about why Stabbing Westward broke up, and what it's like to achieve 'mainstream' success in the music scene only to start all over again.
"Stabbing Westward broke up because the music industry became too hard for them. We had just lost our second record deal in 2 years and it became obvious that they were not going to be able to maintain the level of success that they had grown accustomed to. We recorded in high end expensive studios. We had guys to set up our gear every night and check us into hotels,we had luxury buses to ride and sleep in. we basically walked on stage and played and then drank and partied all night until someone tucked us in and then we did it all again the next day. Once the money dried up and they realized that they would have to travel in a van and set up their own gear and share hotel rooms they decided it wasn't worth it anymore. I disagreed. so the very next day Johnny and I started the Dreaming. "
I believe I read somewhere that he doesn't really listen to other music. There's too much music in his head or something so instead he mostly listens to NPR. I also think I read that he's pretty short.
I have to agree, ele is very versatile so you'll almost never get bored with so many skills to switch and choose from. I'm currently working on my ele Asura to also buy the cultural Asura light armor with the cool avatar goggles. But in the meantime I'm also playing my other 2 lvl 80 characters to farm and for living story events.http://vampirefreaks.com/gallery.php?u=Johnny_CyberHuman&folder_id=540352

been fixing some minor bugs, so you should see a few things fixed around here. =)
also fixing up the VF mobile site, I know there's a few pages which are still not totally mobile optimized so i've been working on it.
if there's any site bugs that have been bothering you let me know!
Having the same bug issue as enter_the_fang_zone I agree with you Lethe, but I've seen cases where a person has been power bombed up to 10x and nothing happened. They still had their account's. And when us premiums DO power bomb a free user, we have to give a reason for power bombing.
