Does anyone in New York city, near Irving Plaza have a spare room for 2, for Dj Lordbone and me to crash? Feel free to message me We'll reward you royally !
So today I added some photos to my facebook account. I'm not going to put them on VF because there is nothing "VF" about these sorts of photos, but if you're on facebook, have a look if you want.
If we have talked before, I'll add you on facebook if we aren't friends there yet... but if I have no idea who you are, I probably won't accept the add there, sorry. I welcome anyone to add me on VF though.
So... clearly no one cares about Gatsby, so instead I'm going to write about something that's annoying to me.
I was reading the news today, and saw an article about a teacher from Florida that was basically asked to resign because the administration found out she was modeling, and some of her photos involved bikinis and nudity.
I do agree that teachers need to be good role models for their students, but stuff like this is crazy. For one thing, it's safe to assume that this teacher never discussed her modeling with the students. She even used a stage name so it would be unlikely that her students would ever stumble upon her photos. As far as I'm concerned, she did absolutely nothing wrong. Being a teacher does not mean you must sell your soul and never do anything that an adult might want to do; if that was truly part of the contract, teachers should be paid a hell of a lot more.
I do think some things are wrong...
Talking to students about it if you do modeling like that is wrong if you bring it up to them. Using your real name if you're going to do it is wrong. Adding your students to facebook and posting photos of yourself drinking, doing drugs, or in provocative poses is wrong.
But if you take reasonable precautions, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want to do on your own time. Some teachers are also prostitutes. Some teachers are also strippers. The only reason why they can get away with it, is anyone who found out would be too embarrassed to rat them out. If you ask me, it's pretty cowardly if someone ratted this teacher out... how would they have even found those photos I wonder? Buy going out of their way to look at things that adults might want to look at? Hmmm... if parents are so worried about who's influencing their kids, maybe they shouldn't be on modeling websites on their home computers where there might be a little bit of nudity. Heaven forbid that their kid might see a naked body. Much better if they see dead bodies on the news or realistically portrayed in movies, because that's wayyyy healthier for kids right? *eye roll*
This is a pet peeve of mine. Many people (guys and girls included) have stripped, done nude modeling, done porn, etc. Often to pay their way through school. Some are comfortable with it, some keep it a secret, but I'm yet to see a case of any teacher bringing it up with her students, yet several are fired for it. Yet we allow soldiers to teach (one of my favourite teachers was an ex-soldier). I didn't think any differently of him just because there was a chance he might have killed someone in combat. Nor should I have. The same should be true with modeling, provocative or otherwise.
yeah i had a similar discusion....i totaly agree with you but however the reality is people make judgements.......im my career i said i am who i am and if i dont get the job because of what i do....i really didnt care and wouldnt want to work for someone so narrow minded.....all i have to say keep work at work and personal stuff at home....the less people know that safer one is
On the flip side, the teacher knew there was a reasonable chance if found out, she would lose her job. She was planning on going back to classes herself anyway at the end of the school year. Kinda sucks that she didn't get to finish out the school year so close to the end of it - but well, if the photo they have of her in the bikini is any indication of her attractiveness, she could easily be a sports illustrated model. Hope the hype from the fall out propels her in the right direction.
In Canada teachers are generally safer, but it bugs me that things like this happen anywhere. Anyone who is not a violent criminal should be able to teach and keep their job as long as they are good role models when they're on the job or doing school related activities like volunteer coaching or whatever. Your own time is your own time, period. If it's not illegal and it's not hurting anyone, no one should be fired for that. There was a lawsuit awhile back where a teacher was suspended for posing nude in a magazine where they captioned the photo with her real name. The government found it was wrong for them to outright fire her for that, so she got her job back. I believe that was a Canadian case, I can't remember.
Going to see Gatsby tonight. And thoughts on Iron Man 3.

So tonight my boyfriend and I are planning to go see the new Great Gatsby movie. I am super excited. As a teenager, with my first reading of Gatsby I was very meh about it, but even then could acknowledge that it's a classic story. Well, when I was teaching at the private high school a few months ago, I decided to have my students read the book in one of the more advanced ESL classes, and I let them watch one of the old films about it, and I found a whole new appreciation for the story as an adult (and supposedly some of my students said they wanted to see this movie too, but they may have just been trying to seem like good students that like what the teacher likes lol). I guess I had to get to know the story more to teach it, and when I did, I found that I really liked it.
And as for this movie... I just love everything I've seen so far. It's got a wonderful cast of actors, the music selection for the trailers were good, the look of the film seems right... it just looks wonderful even though I clearly know what will happen. I've always been drawn to alternative sort of stuff, and while this is not, I also like to see something glamorous every once in awhile, and this movie oozes glamour and style from the 1920s. I prefer other decades to 20s style, (40s/50s is more my speed) but I like this a lot too. I'd probably never style myself to look like a 1920s lady, but I do find it interesting to look at.
I'll probably do a spoiler free review when I get home. BTW, here's the best trailer for it:
P.S. I also saw Iron Man 3. It does not disappoint, it was actually hilarious sometimes subtly and other times not so subtly, but yeah, go see that too. If you realize it's a movie, and therefore stuff can happen that would never happen in real life, you'll like it just fine. I've seen a few people complain about a few not so realistic things, but I say that goes with the territory of an action movie, so get over it!! lol
I've come to the conclusion that the top 5 Disney songs (according to me) would be as follows:
1. Part of Your World (The Little Mermaid) 1989
2. A Whole New World (Aladdin) 1992
3. Reflection (Mulan) 1998
4. Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas) 1995
5. Beauty and the Beast (commonly known as "Tale as old as Time") (Beauty and the Beast) 1991
Sorry recent Disney movies, but your songs just aren't that memorable. I adored The Lion King as a kid, but it's songs just don't make the cut for top 5. I think I also must add that I was born in 87, so if you were born many years before or after me, I'm sure you will have different choices.
*edit*
Okay... so Circle of Life was pretty damn good. I'm gonna call that a tie for 5th place
This is a random update for me I know, but I wanted to share this.
So today I found out my mom bought these little chocolate brownie things, and at first I didn't think they would taste very good, because the marketing really focuses on that whole "this contains fibre so it must be healthy" sort of thing... but I tried it and OMG SOOO GOOD! lol. Seriously, it was good. I ate two of them already today and I'm about to have a third. I did a google image search, and found some pics of the box. If you find this in your grocery store, I highly recommend it if you like chocolate brownies
Anthony sent me the last of the regular photos, so only more clone pictures will be coming after this, once my boyfriend finds the time to edit them. I especially like this new one.
So this happened, lmao. I was not planning on sharing this video, but my cat.... I just can't explain how funny this is to me lol. Anyways, things get interesting about 30 seconds in. I think my cat wants to eat me
My cat used to do a similar thing when I would do my yoga and pilates floor workout. Try holding a plank with a cat latched on and bunny kicking your arm >,< But now she is used to it and stretches along side me sometimes.
So just for fun, I decided to film myself dancing to a song from the Just Dance video game, and nearly the whole damn time, my cat was sitting at my feet giving me his "I want to bite you" meow, and he also attacked me TWICE! LOLLLL!
Shots like this are hard. I did like 50 different poses for each side, and then you hope for the best that some will look good together, lol. I think eventually there will be 6 more like this with different poses.
