We love tattoos and piercings like any alternative, but there are some things to pay attention to in a recent study that suggests; "about one in 10 inkers does not anticipate something that can come along with them: a severe, ongoing skin reaction." Read more about what precautions to take and consider before making a permanent commitment to body art.
Inks of certain colors are the most problematic.

Whether it’s a skull, cross, rose, or mom’s name in a thorn bush wrapped around the bicep, about one quarter of American adults have a tattoo. But a new study says about one out of every 10 inkers does not anticipate something that can come along with them: a severe, ongoing skin reaction.
In the just-published NYU Langone Medical Center research that studied tattoo-clad New Yorkers, those who reacted to tattoos experienced a rash, itching or swelling that lasted anywhere from four months to several years, with the longest-lasting complications stemming from ink shades of red and black.
“While we know infections are a risk of tattoos and can be dependent on tattoo parlor practices, a lot of the complications in our study — and that I have seen in my patients — do not have to do with the tattoo artist or parlor practices, but rather the qualities of ink and how the body’s immune system responds to it,” Marie C. Leger, MD, PhD, study lead and Assistant Professor at the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, tells Yahoo Health.
Tattoo and Piercing Precautions

My experience (winemaking) is that every body does not understand sterile transfer, and I cannot quantify tattoo ink allergies. But IMO local physicians know local tattoo parlor's techniques and competency, and Neosporin and prescribed hydrocortisone creams solve many topical dermatology problems.

Yes, 'World Goth Day' is a thing!
Today the world celebrates all things dark and spooky.
What do you guys do on 'World Goth Day'?
I'm not exactly sure how to celebrate TBH.
I'm gonna go be mopey and shit some bats or something. XD
"Today the world celebrates all things dark and spooky"No they don't that's called halloween, World Goth Day is a day for like minded Goths to come together and celebrate the Goth subculture and the music that fuels it and party to Gothic Rock, Positive-Punk, Deathrock, Batcave & Darkwave minus all the shitty mislabelled buttrave. And of course we give nod to the Godfathers of Goth BAUHAUS for without them the Goth subculture wouldn't exist or be very different.
Thanks to everyone that entered and participated! We understand some of you expressed concern about the voting on all the entries with picture props and next time we will narrow it down to fewer finalists to make the voting easier.
Congrats to the winners:
There is a phrase we've all heard and many of us have joked or thought seriously about; "What is the meaning of life?". There are many scientific thoughts on this and many philosophical thoughts. I have not studied this beyond what I think about the meaning of life, my thoughts are based on my life lessons and observations. The short answer I have is this, "Ripple effect". The short explanation of "Ripple effect" is that we are the center of the ripples in the water, we are the drop in the otherwise big water. It may possibly sound bleak, but let me explain it and you might think it is not so gloomy after all. We've all had moments in our lives we are ashamed of, maybe we are ashamed still, perhaps we never have achieved any things, or we know someone like that. We might be very successful and a perfect picture of man, or we know someone who is. Anyway, it's the little things we see in life that make the biggest ripple. One word, one push, one vision, a smell or whatever it is. We go out to look at the people around us, an old couple holding hands moves us, give us a smile. The little kids who smile so intensely when they gets an ice-cream. Someone you hardly know that died, or someone you knew very well that died. No mater how painful, joyful, great or small ,there are things out there that affects us in a big way whit ideas that can change our lives for good or worse. Sometimes it can change many lives for generations. Whether it's the atomic bomb that was designed to destroy life, or nuclear power plants that save lives with vital power. The stories that live on about evil events, great events, big and small events, they inspire new inventions for better or worse. One can feel they have not achieved anything in life, but the truth is that you've inspired someone to do something good. Like writing a book, a song, a poem, make art, create inventions, or only inspired some small actions that bring joy to others, and this you have done by simply existing. Sometimes you know that you have inspired some but often you will never know that you have. So when I say, give blood and save a life, it does not matter who the blood goes to, in the long run, this person's existence inspire someone to do good in life. This is my view on the meaning of life, "Ripple Effect". Roy.
