When did Xentrifuge form? What is the origin behind the band name?
Xentrifuge originally formed back in 2005, by Chris X. While experimenting and blending noise with dark EBM, Xentrifuge was created.
The name Xentrifuge originates from the word 'centrifuge', I simply made it my own, as it certainly resonates with the cold, mechanical style of our music.

How many band members are there and what are their stances in the band?
Xentrifuge is a 2 piece consisting of Chris and Lisa Hellen. We both play several roles depending on which project we're working on. When we are in the studio, we kinda jump in whenever one of us has an idea -it's great chemistry for studio work. While performing live, Lisa Hellen is on synths, backing vocals, and controls backing tracks. Chris X is on main vocals up front.

What are band practices like? Do you have a set time each week?
Our schedule with music is literally 24/7. Not to say that we don't get a minute to breathe here and there, but having a set schedule is almost impossible - this is a very spur of the moment industry. So when we do have rehearsal/practice in our own small studio, we make sure to really get to work and to always have a little fun.

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?
Being a 2 piece band is probably the biggest challenge in a lot of aspects. It does have it's advantages, because artistically we think the same way and want to go in the same direction, which is not always easy with a 5 piece band. But at the same time, we don't get 5 band members to help with all the promotion, setting up, etc., so it's a double-edged sword situation.

If you guys could play at any venue anywhere, where would it be?
Well, before it shut down, Roseland Ballroom NYC, hands down, no contest. We pretty much grew up in this venue lol. Since it's shut down, The Viper Room and The Whiskey in LA are life goals.

Do you have a Motto for the band? Or a superstition?
Yes actually, we never ever ever practice on the day of the show. We don't touch the instruments at all, unless to pack them. For some reason, it's always been this way my entire life, and I passed it on to Lisa. As far as a motto, we find ourselves saying "If it sounds/looks good, it IS good".
