Mainpage Updates Some updates to the new VF Mainpage:
Added top lists for VF Album Download sales, check out what music is currently hot on VF!
Also updates to the 'top girls' / 'top boys' lists on the mainpage:
Now lists people with the highest average rating (must have atleast 600 rating points), rather than just showing people who got the most rating points per week, which was getting weird results.
Also we increased some security settings to prevent spammers / trolls so that it is harder to access VF through proxies.
Yeah we did kinda axe the ratings thing for a while but then we were like fuck it, its entertaining. its not really meant to be taken too seriously but its interesting to see how the top lists turn out. =)
Pecochan, of course it would. Then people would literally have nothing to complain about except pervs seeing as 90% of the drama here is caused by downratings and failing peoples comments.
Jet can we please do something interesting with journals. Like subscriptions?
Then you could have a link at the top for journals with the most subscribers or whatever. It would motivate people to make more interesting journals i'm tellin ya!
And I know, you can read people's journals if you're on their friend's list but with this, maybe it could be to where you don't have to be on their list in order to receive notifs of their journals, the non friends only ones anyway. Or something like that. Just something different dammit.
I'd love to see that ratting bullshit removed,but those 10's mean the world to all the emo kids here. Plus the drama that users make between themselves is what keeps vf running.
pecochan yeah we blocked tor and also implemented a few other fixes.
And yeah still got a bunch of other features coming up. We did add the 'top cults' and 'top journals' on the mainpage already and that seems to be working out pretty well. But yeah agreed on encouraging creativity

I'm not sure if blocking TOR is really a step in the right direction. That just decreases privacy for users but I don't think you guys keep data like some other websites so it's not as much of a concern unless someone's got some sort of really uptight job or something and their boss stalks them. *shrug*
I'd really like to see HTTPS for premium users!
I'd still like to see gray area on ratings. They're fun and silly. I don't really get upset over them or really care about getting high props but I do at least try to give accurate points based on what I feel/think something deserves. The world is not black and white!
It's awesome seeing the Top Albums and New Albums. I'm tempted to add my own old bands stuff on here. I can't believe I didn't think of this for the front page. lol
