I have decided to slow down for a moment and think aloud. Who have I become? I'm no one. Not to say that no one notices me. They all do. I'm never subtle unless I need to be. But that is not the problem. In my quest to find myself and my uniqueness I have realized that I am no one. I take on the personae of all those around me. I incrementally add bit of personality to myself until I come to the realization that whoever I was before I began... Is gone. I now know that cold feeling of being absent again. It's frightening. Do I have a solution to this nightmare I have put upon myself? No. For now, I am trapped in a loop. I have helped so many in my past. I think now I need someone to help me. I need someone in my life that can be more forceful, smart, and manipulative then me. I need someone to reach inside my brain and fix it. I have met only one that could do this. She may even know who she is. Anyways. The moment is over. Goodbye. And until the next time I open up, smile, because I always do.
So I haven't really been on to much. That is due to computer issues. My laptop decided for a day that it hated the internet then my new pc came in. So I am currently talking to you on my new gaming rig! I love you guys! This pc is awesome! Anyways. I'm back and will try to get back to the book soon.
Brandy and john had almost all but forgotten the events from their dream two years ago. The whole event had sent a shiver down their spines for months. It even affected them as a couple. They both separated for a time with John sleeping on the couch in their apartment. When the two tried seeing other people it was always awkward. Eventually, they both mutually decided to stay together until the timing was right. As a couple they were very silent, rarely communicating at all for a year. But now everything was seemingly behind them. The nightmares had ended. The very real pain of being stabbed and thrown like a rag doll was over. Brandy was working a steady job as a department manager in Best Buy while John had finished school and was interning at a local wildlife refuge. While things were nice now because they forced themselves into forgetting, they could never explain the reality of the dream or the fact that they shared the same dream.
Today was a celebration though. Today John would ask Brandy to take his hand in marriage. He had everything planned to the hilt. Movie. Dinner. Dessert. Ring. Question. Yes. The yes bit was of course an educated guess. However like every man before him, he did not really prepare for the no answer. John was just happy to have it all planned. His parents didn't have an engagement story, just one day they mutually decided it was the right time and got married in a courthouse. No ceremony. No Plans. John had always been a bit of a hopeless romantic and found that story rather depressing. He was currently on his way to pick up his betrothed(hopefully) from work. She would be tired and have lots of stories of rude or dumb customers and management. But brandy was always up for dinner as long as she wasn't paying. Yes, she tended to be cheap but she was saving her money. John never argued about money though, he knew that both of them were wrong and both were right and could fight forever, but they never did because she agreed with his reasoning. So she spent her money and he spent his. As long as bills came first they were fine. Occasionally John slipped up and needed her help, but for the most part they were okay.
John pulled his car into a parking spot at the Best Buy and phoned Brandy. She was in the lunchroom and told him she would meet him by the front entrance. John ended the call and pulled the car to the front of the store where Brandy opened the door and climbed in.
"I wanted to take us out for dinner and a movie. Well, visa versa in this case", John smiled and drove to a nearby theater.
"You planned this?", Brandy gave a tired smile "you have that look on your face like you have good news. And you never take me out for good news so what is it?"
"You'll find out at dinner, for now, enjoy the ride". As was the norm with them they spoke very little in the car ride. They both loved the mutual silence every chance they got. The movie took too long for Brandy even though she had waited months to see it. She was really excited to hear him ask. By now she knew because she had noted through the entire movie John was fiddling with something in his pocket. Brandy had to him credit though, he didn't seem nervous. She was. Brandy was not sure if her answer would be yes or no. She had very mixed feeling about getting married. She knew that he would ensure that marriage itself would be whenever she wanted, engagement was just the next logical step in their relationship.
John took them to a nice restaurant and gave the waiter the ring to be place on the plate of chocolate cheesecake they would share. When dinner was finished and dessert arrived Brandy felt tears rolling down her cheeks. Her answer would be yes. It had to be. The entire night John had been whispering sweet nothings into her ears. He was playing the romance to the hilt. He was not doing it for the sex, but at the end of the night he would get it. Brandy was a sucker for gentle romance. John may not be the most well rounded character but when asked for a reminder on why she wouldn't leave him times like today would come to Brandy's mind. John took the ring from beside the cheesecake and asked the question. Brandy merely nodded heavily so John smiled and slipped it onto her finger. He had asked her ring size a year ago as a precaution. His hopeless romantic side always had these long term plans so he already knew the ring would be a perfect fit.
Afterwards they walked to the car, John had a strut in his step. He went to open the car when his fingers passed through the door. He and Brandy looked at his palm, it was fading away! He yelled out in fear of what was happening. All at once the memories from two years ago fell right back in place. Brandy stepped back and watched as her fiance' evaporated into thin air like in Back To The Future. But she noticed her body was doing much the same thing. Before long all that there was was her head hovering over where her body should be. John was nowhere to be seen. Brandy let out a wail for someone to help her. By the time a man from the restaurant made it outside John and Brandy were gone.
Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have completely edited the rough draft of my prelude and placed it on my deviant art profile. Here is the link: http://fav.me/d3kdagg
