Today’s world is in trouble. Governments don’t do their jobs. People attack each other and murder each other. No one is protected, so one is truly safe. People don’t take a stand to stop it either. We just allow it to happen because we think it doesn’t affect us. But it does affect us, it affects all of us, even if its going on all the way over in Darfur.
In Darfur thousands of people are being killed because of their ethnic background. The Janjaweed who are funded and supported by the Sudanese government are killing all African inhabitants of Darfur. This all began in 2003 after a cease fire agreement ended a civil war. The government in Khartum refused to help the people in Darfur by denying them any sort of healthcare, education, or role in the government because they were black and not Arabic. As a response some rebel groups organized to demand a role in the government. The government of Khartum then brought in the Janjaweed to eliminate the Sudanese Liberation Movement, the Justice and Equality Movement, and allowed them to kill any black people they wanted in Darfur and secretly supply and support the Janjaweed.
A government is meant to govern and protect its people and to do what is best for its people. A government must also reflect its people, it must care about what its people care about and take action on behalf of its people. A government also must take into account its peoples views on what is going on in other countries and act on their behalf. The government of Sudan is failing miserably to be a good government because not only is it not protecting its people, it is supporting their destruction.
We should care because innocent people are being murdered simply for being there, simply because they are different. Any time we do nothing or don’t take an interest, it tells the world that we think its ok and the same kind of thing starts happening in other areas. Though not as big as Darfur, there are many more instances in the world of people being killed today simply because they are different. In Ireland there is still a war going on because one side is Catholic and the other is Protestant. In Britain people are being killed for being Goth or for listening to punk music and though these attacks in England aren’t organized, they are still killings because someone is different. Evidence of this can be seen in the article “Goth clothes ‘promoted killing” in the BBC News. When we do nothing we tell the world its ok to kill people because you don’t agree with them and it is not. We need to live in harmony or else we will be destroyed by ourselves.
People are constantly being killed for being different, for wearing different clothes, being a different color, speaking a different dialect, being of a different sexual orientation, political party, religion. We are all human and we all deserve to live. When governments do nothing to stop the killings, when governments support the killings, when other countries don’t offer support and show they care, the world plunges deeper and deeper into darkness. If we don’t take action and show we care and show this is wrong, we may be the next ones being killed simply because we are different. No matter where it is happening, it does affect you.

what is wrong with the world?
a friend fliped out and told me never to talk to her again, so i stop talking to her and today she has someone tell me to stop, doesnt say what to stop and i am having no contact with her to begin with, god im confused
