FiXT Remix – PRE-LAUNCH Fan Contest:
Celldweller GRAB & TOUCH Round 1 "Myspace"
Contest Duration: 6/6/08 – 7/4/08

HELP US PROMOTE CELLDWELLER & WIN AN iPOD TOUCH
Celldweller has released 16 Tracks of free music from the FiXT Remix Competition in a viral widget and now you can help spread the free tracks for a chance to win an iPod Touch. The compilation features some of the best remixes from 3 Celldweller remix contests, along with the album version of the songs and 2 bonus tracks, including a version of "Birthright" from the upcoming Celldweller Sophomore album. FiXT & Celldweller have been looking for a way to distribute these tracks for free and have found 2 partners to make it happen – True Anthem and Ubisoft's latest video game Haze. True Anthem has provided Celldweller with a customized widget, which can be easily added to any webpage including Facebook, Myspace, and virtually any other social networking profile, making it easy to share with fans and friends. That's where you come in…

So How Does the Contest Work?
The Widget is made to be a viral, easily distributed tool. This is done by "Grabbing" a copy of the widget from our site and posting it on your own webpage. We can not only track everyone who grabs it from us, but also see how many times other people "Grab" it from you. The person who accumulates the most "Grabs" from their page during the next month will become the owner of shiny new iPod Touch!

What Exactly Do I Do?
Round 1 "Myspace" will focus only on spreading the widget at Myspace.com – so you'll be grabbing the widget from our Myspace Page (www.myspace.com/celldweller). Future rounds will focus on both personal & other social networking sites (ie – Facebook, etc…)

GRAB the widget (top right corner) and embed it on only ONE of your own Myspace profiles for more people to find (if you put it on multiple pages that you use, you'll actually be competing with yourself).

Tell your Friends to grab the widget from YOUR page (not ours) and that will give you a "Grab." Try sending bulletins, posting comments, using status updates, blogs and e-mail to tell your friends to get the widget on your page.

Sit Back and Watch, and now you can walk around with that warm fuzzy feeling in your tummy now that you've helped pass along free music that you dig.

Contest Start Date: 6/6/08 | Contest End Date: 7/4/08

Klayton Was here...Free Music! June 02, 2008, 08:49:pm
5-30-08] Klayton Was Here… (with free tracks)

EVERYONE LOVES FREE STUFF

And that includes me too, but they say it is better to give than receive (funny, as a kid i remember not buying that concept whatsoever.) So now that i'm not a kid anymore, i guess i have to accept the fact that it IS better to give than receive. So here's some free music for you. Most of you know that for awhile i've been giving away some tracks for free. I didn't feel like it was visible enough and i couldn't afford to rent a hot air balloon to fly over major cities and drop mp3's over the masses. I've been wanting to find a better (and free-er) way to distribute some of my tracks and never really found the right fit. Well, i'm glad to say i've finally found it. I'm partnering with True Anthem who has created a widget that will allow you all to download whatever i put in there * for freakin' free*. There are a few other things that make this even cooler:

- You can "grab this" widget (top right corner) and embed it on your own sites and profiles for more people to find, and they can then download these tracks *for freakin' free* too. So now you can walk around with that warm fuzzy feeling in your tummy, knowing that you've done a good deed by giving instead of receiving.

- Many of these tracks are remixes from the Celldweller Remix Competition, mostly from the "Switchback" round which until now has not been released.) So, every artist that has been picked for this release is getting a plug. How much cooler is that? You can not only spread the word about Celldweller, but also a slew of other cool independent artists who will love you til the end of time for spreading their name to the world. You could even consider yourself some sort of technological missionary, "spreading the word through widget". I can see your halos glowing from here....

- Another cool part of this (for me, and probably many of you gamers) is that Ubisoft had gotten involved in this with their new game Haze. So i get to pretend i'm cool b/c there's a little "Haze" graphic on the widget. Now i'll have something to show my grandkids someday. (btw, is it possible to just skip having kids and just adopt grandkids? I kinda want to brag to them about this asap.)

Ok, it's pretty easy. i actually tried it today for the first time to see if i was smart enough to figure it out. Thankfully i pulled it off. I couldn't handle a blow to my fragile ego if i hadn't been able to figure it out. So for simplicity, i will impart the vast knowledge i have gained through my experience with this mighty widget:

To download the album (all 16 tracks plus the "Switchback" Video) just click the "download album" button on the bottom right. This adds the whole album to your cart. (notice your total is $0.00? *freakin' free*...) Then click "checkout" on the bottom right again. Cllck the little "signup" link at the bottom left and put in a valid e-mail address, so you can get a confirmation email. Get your confirmation email, click the confirm link and start downloading your tracks. From now on, you can just log in to the widget and download anything we're making available there (*for freakin' free*)

Damn, i wish medical school had been this easy - i would've been a doctor by now doing fun stuff like tapping people on the knee so they can involuntarily kick me in the face, or giving nice people nice colonoscopies.

I think i've typed enough for one night. If the widget doesn't show up (i don't trust Internet Explorer to actually do what it's supposed to) go here to view the widget. Go to town, enjoy the tracks and put the $ you might have paid for them in your gas tank instead.

Hugs n Kisses -

[Klayton]

PS

The widget does not seem to be working on the Vampire Freak pages at the moment, so please visit the following link to obtain the songs!

IT'S FUNNY HOW TIME FLIES:

Tears For Fears said it best. It seems like it's been awhile since I've
posted here and I could only wish my reasons were because I'm hopelessly
lazy or I was on vacation this whole time. Maybe next year…

I have been working on a number of things, truth be told. At this very
moment I am in the studio, smack-dab in the middle of a mixdown and I wanted
to take a few minutes to clear my head and tell you what it is I'm actually
in the middle of mixing. Actually Grant Mohrman is in the middle of mixing
while I'm lurking in some dark studio corner typing away pretending to pay
attention, AND I can't actually tell you what is being mixed, so I've kinda
lied twice in this blog already. I'm off to a bad start…

Since I can't say who, I can at least tell you how. A group in the UK
approached me somewhat recently to do a remix. I don't often take on remix
work, so when I do I want it to count and I want it to be something I will
be into remixing. Fortunately for me, this is an artist that I not only
like, but listen to and feel is pushing some new ground in a scene that
could use artists with a different perspective. So I'm hours away from
wrapping up this track and would love to tell you all about it, but until
their label makes an official announcement about their new single, mum's the
word.

MUSIC:

Congrats again to our winners, participants and voters in the previous round
of the Celldweller "Take it and Break it" remix competition. Watch the
vid below if you don't know what in God's green earth I'm talking about. I
have also decided that I need to spice up my video performance a bit, b/c I
sometimes appear and sound as if I've fallen asleep or that Captain Coma hit
me upside the head with his 'death-stick'. So from here on in, I will be
simultaneously talking AND juggling 3 live great white sharks while filming.
That should keep the standard MTV viewer's attention for at least 30-45
seconds. I'll also feel so much better as an entertainer, giving people what
they're paying for. (P Diddy, watch out.)

I could continue to ramble, but I won't –
