The rating system

We get ratings from people, it happens from time to time, they visit our profile and rate us. But what they rate us, is it really what they think of us, or do they just hope we'll give them that perfect ten back? To this current point in time, I've been rated by 40 people, and have a perfect rating of 10.000, no 1's-9's. Every person that has rated me can't consider me a 10. It'd be absurd, even I don't consider myself a 10, and I never will. So whats the purpose of it, are we meant to feel better when people lie to us? I'd rather people rated me as they saw fit, and if that means they aren't giving me a 10, at least their rating me, as they see fit, not with the purpose of getting a 10 back. Cause guess what kids. I'm not gonna give you a 10 unless you deserve it.
