Finished up my trial week in work already. It was supposed to end on Thursday next week, but finished today instead. I start in the new store on Friday!
Last night, something lovely happened.
When my mum was a kid (13 to be precise), her mother gave her a ring. The ring was the only piece of jewelry my grandmother could ever afford to give my mum, because they were so poor as a family that they couldn't afford to even feed their children. It's a gold signet ring with my mum's initials on it.
When my mum was 17, my gran died of cancer. The ring is the one and only belonging my mum has from my grandmother. She didn't even have any photographs of her mum til last year (more than 30 years after she died!).
Last night, my mum gave it to me. Seriously touched by that. I'm wearing it at the moment and have no intention of taking it off.
