These last couple of days have given me such a headache.
Basically, my mum's boyfriend has bought a house with her, therefore no longer needing his old house.
So it's been empty for the last 9 months, and since Jen and I are renting he's offered it to us for £400 a month.
This is £165 a month less than we're paying at the moment, but his house needs a LOT of work done to it. (Bathroom ripped out and relocated to the 3rd bedroom upstairs, then 2 walls removed downstairs where the bathroom was to extend the kitchen, and obviously new work surfaces fitted etc.)
He also gave us another option. The house is on the market for £120,000 and he's said he'll lend us £13,000 deposit providing we can get a mortgage for the rest.
We've been offered a mortgage of £114,050 so we could easily get it...BUT...the repayments would be killer.
£638 a month for the mortgage, plus whatever we agree with Don to repay the deposit loan. Then add on bills, living costs etc etc.
And obviously we'd have to pay for the kitchen/bathroom refit ourselves as well.
I think it's the only way we're going to get our feet on the housing ladder, but the problem is that Jen doesn't really like the house.
I can see her point.
If we had £13,000 to put down as a deposit on ANY house upto £120,000 then this one wouldn't even get a second glance from either of us.
So the dilemna is:
a) Do we rent the house from him at £400pcm knowing full well that it's a bit shit and save ourselves £165 a month (but bearing in mind that he could sell it at any point and we'd have to rush to find somewhere else) OR
b) Do we take the deposit and the mortgage, struggle through in a house that we don't particularly like but would be totally ours OR
c) Stay exactly where we are, wasting £565pcm in rent with nothing to show for it.
I can sense a few sleepless nights ahead of me.
Roll on tomorrow night when I can get drunk beyond reason and laugh at Jet for being so tiny.

New Microdermal Anchors

So a few weeks ago I got 4 microdermals in my scalp, and so far I haven't had any problems with them at all.
Getting them done was probably one of the most excrutiatingly painful modification procedures I've undergone so far, but so worth it.
They were done by Sam at Styx in Norwich and took the best part of an hour to all 4.
The worst part of the experience was having the jewellery put in, with Sam pushing down on my head with all his force to "click" anchors into place.
What with him pushing down, and me trying to push my head up, the clamps actually bent more than once!
So as I said, no problems with them so far (apart from one time when I was combing my hair, one of the top bits came unscrewed and it took me half an hour trying to screw it back on again) and I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to explain how they were done to random people in the street.
Mum hasn't seen them yet, but I think she'll be more disgusted with the eyebrow surface bars I got last month than she will be about the microdermals! Oh how I love her reactions.

Malice in Wonderland

Jen and I have been going to auditions over the last 2 weeks or so as extras in Malice in Wonderland.
Confirmed stars in it so far are:
Mischa Barton (Marissa from The OC)
Danny Dyer (Football Factory, Severance, Human Traffic)
and possibly Bob Hoskins too.
We start filming on Monday and Tuesday, and I'm going to have to do Wednesday as well....from 10pm until 4am.
So look out for us on the big screen sometime in 2009!
