Just watched the results of the Mercury Music Award. I'm not particularly excited by Elbow but their backing cellist is an ex-student of mine and one of my dearest friends which makes me feel good again about what i do. It's finding sparkling diamonds like Margi that makes wading through all the shit worthwhile.

So with the current tedious and uncomfortable work situation i'm looking to stimulate the grey mush between my ears a little. And when i discover this amazing Master's degree in Western Esotericism, suddenly my cerebral cortex has a reason to live again. And the cost...£4,000!!!!
So it's back to anaesthetising the urge for gnosis with internet porn

As it says on my profile, I'm a big fan of the writer Phil Rickman so i thought it was time to visit some of the sites he mentions in his wonderful books. So having chased the Revd. Merrily Watkins around Herefordshire and the border country i've returned full to the brim with local legend and fabulous folklore. If anyone in the UK gets the chance to visit the Templar church at Garway or Ludlow then grab it, especially if you're into the masterly and mysterious musings of the said Mr Rickman.
The only thing that dampened my enthusiasm was having to spend Sunday night in Hereford hospital with an agonising throat abscess. Two days later I'm standing under the hanging tower at Ludlow castle, i cough up a load of blood and green muck and suddenly i'm feeling better again. Sympathetic magic at work? It makes you wonder huh?
