About Me
The now defunct Jack Off Jill hit the South Florida scene in 1992 and was hailed by critics as a "childrens puppet show meets the Exorcist" The band lasted eight years, with only Moulder and Fodera remaining through all its lineups. The Original [all-girl] line-up consisted of Jessicka : Vocals / Lyrics , Agent [robin] Moulder : bass , Michelle In-Hell [guitar] and Tenni Ah-Cha-Cha [drums]. Jack Off Jill played with a relentless fuck-all attitude and sound that could rarely be duplicated by its predecessors. Releasing Children 5 and Up, Cannibal Songbook and Cockroach Waltz before a line-up change bringing Ho-Ho Spade and Lauracet Simpson into the roles of guitarist and drummer, Jack Off Jill released their first full-length Sexless Demons and Scars on risk records in 1997. Touring with such acts as Lords of Acid , Switchblade Symphony and fellow Florida band Marilyn Manson, Jack Off Jills live show was one to be seen. They commanded the stage ruling it as their own private playpen complete with dolls -candy - blood - and a plethora of toys for singer Jessicka to fashion into weapons in order to injure herself or her unsuspecting band mates. Jack off Jill took the stage taunting you to play their game and play it on their turf. With yet another line-up change in 1998, placing SMP Scott Mitchell Putesky aka Daisy Berkowitz of Marilyn Manson fame in the guitar position and Claudia Rossi on drums, JOJ released a remix ep called Covetous Creature in November. Now Transplanted to Los Angeles, the band's final line- up change brought ex-Plexi drummer Norm Block on drums and original guitarist Michelle In-Hell along with Clint Walsh and Helen Storer all on guitar. This line-up helped create what would be JOJ's last studio album the melancholy masterpiece Clear Hearts Grey Flowers, released in 2000. Sadly at this time, poor publicity, record label turmoil and a decaying relationship between Jessicka and Robin, played a part in the demise of JOJ. Jack Off Jill's last show was played at the Troubadour in Los Angeles in April of 2000. Long Time friend and producer ex Nine Inch Nailer Chris Vrenna sat in on drums for Jack Off Jill's last performance Jessicka (stayed in L.A. ) went on to form noise-gaze sensations Scarling. "Some things you lose and some things you just give away." Jack Off Jill 1992-2000
NOTE:this is not ran by jack off jill the band broke up years ago..this is simply a fan
JACK OFF JILL broke up officially mid 2000. There have been no plans made to reform the band anytime in the immediate future.
Here's what Jessicka has to say about the band's breakup!
A lot of people want to know the answer to the question: what happened to JOJ? I'd like to be brutally honest but I fear that later it might come back and bite me in the ass. So I'll give you the edited "Highlights" Magazine" version. For a long time Robin and I had not been getting along. I honestly don't know when it started. She often said she felt like she deserved more credit then she received in JOJ. I know this frustrated her and because of our background and age difference we slowly began to grow apart. During the recording of Clear Hearts Grey Flowers our differences were starting to effect our working relationship. This Is half the reason Michelle Inhell departed for the second time. Although maybe things could have been salvaged if we had both been in the right frame of mind, the pressure of finishing an album, our record company's shady financial deals and emanate collapse, and her need to gain more financial compensation and recognition made the rift between us irreparable. Mid 2000 (After trying to sell our band for ludicrous amounts of money to major labels Risk Records files for bankruptcy and hands our album over to their Atlanta office 404 records. This leaves CHGF with no promotion, no A&R ,no street team, no money- yet incredibly it still sells every single record they pressed) August of 2000 I'm frustrated with the record industry and vow never to be in another band. JOJ officially breaks up. Since JOJ's break up we've gone our separate ways. I stayed in Los Angeles to form scarling. and she moved to Detroit and got married. Afterwards, I later found out that she still has a lot of hard feelings. That is a shame because I have no regrets about the break up, except that I wish I would have left that bad situation sooner. The one amazing thing that came out of Robin and my split is that I reconnected with Tenni and Michelle from JOJ's original line up. We finally got a chance to air out a lot of our old dirty laundry and found that a lot of JOJ's problems had stemmed from our old bass player's insecurities. But with that said, still the original lineup was quite magic. I wish more people could have seen it. September 2001 scarling. a scar is born/bourne
