When did you become VP of VampireFreaks?
Probably about 2 - 3 years ago but the VP title is just a glorified title. What it really means is that, I just provide backup on VF operations when needed.
What responsibilities do you have as VP?
Any and everything from promotions to store operations to club events to site management. At the moment, my main tasks involve the management and improvement of our store site but if something else was needed, I would be the dude to provide backup on that.
What is your favorite aspect of VampireFreaks?
If we are talking the Social Network, it would be the ability to meet others that share similar interests in the alternative / dark lifestyle. It's been that way for me even before I knew who Jet was.
What Cults are your favorites, what are they all about?
Definitely the NYC cult, I spent a lot of time on that cult over the years and met some pretty awesome people with whom I am good friends with now. The NYC cult, can range from things that happen locally to just jumping in and having good conversation with people in the area.
What's your favorite genre of music?
Ah, that's such a ruff question. I honestly cannot say. I am super diverse, I listen to Hip-Hop, Techno, EBM, EDM, Industrial, Goth....shit I really listen to it all as long as it sounds good to me. So hard to pick a favorite genre.
Outside of VampireFreaks, what things in life do you enjoy most?
Sleep, Video Games, Philosophical Conversation......that's all I got for now.
What has your journey of becoming a DJ been like? What has been the hardest part?
I've only been DJing for about 2 years and only really got into it for the purposes of being a better promoter. It's natural that people will be more excited about what you have to say about an event the more involved with it you are. Overtime, I started to notice that I could actually use those skills to help me have a better time at an event and spread positive energy and that's really what I've been doing with it this whole time.
What has been your favorite venue to DJ at?
Oh man, that would have to be Windfall. It's not even that big of a spot but most of my memories of having a good connection with the crowd happened at Windfall. I think maybe because its small and more intimate. Always had fun there playing music for guests.
Where would you like your preforming career to be in 5 years time?
Honestly, I've never really thought about taking DJ gigs that far. DJ's these days don't really get anywhere unless they are producing music and I'm not there yet but who knows, the future is open to all sorts of things.
What's it like living with Jet at the VF House?
It's like living with the male version of Daria. Jet is pretty laid back and really doesn't do much other than work, hang out with Josh(his son) and.....work. There's really nothing notable that can be said. We just work most of the week.
What was your experience like at The Dark Side of the Con? What were your favorite parts? What are you looking forward to next year?
Dark Side was amazing! My favorite thing would definitely be the fact that you had all these people from different styles / alternative categories such as Punks, Steampunks, Goths whatever and in situations like that, people usually don't mesh well but no one seemed to have an issue. There were positive vibes all over the place, it was the first time I got a glimpse of what it was like to witness labels in the alternative community just disappear.
If you had unlimited funds, what would you do with them?
Give it away to as many people as possible and solve financial issues around the globe. No one would ever go hungry, everyone would have proper medical treatment, no one would be poor and have to struggle, ect.
What accomplishments of yours give you the most pride and why?
Hmm, I don't really know. I've done events in which I have had the opportunity to bring people together, I made a giant knife out of wood and cardboard for a cosplay once. I can't really think of anything massive that I have done in terms of accomplishments. I'm sort of a wanderer, I'm usually content with just being helpful to someone in some way. I'd have to give it more thought.
What's the most important thing that people should know about yourself?
Don't fuck with me. I'm usually pretty openly considerate of others, not that I'm perfect but I do my best. I'm not good in situations in which a person is deliberately disrespecting me because I know I don't pass that onto others. Just don't do it.
How has being a member of VampireFreaks affected your life?
VampireFreaks has opened up my world to so many different view points, amazing people and just knowledge on various levels. I've learned a lot about myself as well as people and the world around me. I think it was a gateway to breaking me out of the one mindset that I knew before joining because that's all I was surrounded by my whole life.
What do you envision for the future of VampireFreaks?
It would be nice if VF went on to spread that positive message of acceptance and education about the alternative lifestyle but that's really up to the members of its community. Only time will tell I suppose.
What advice would you give new VampireFreaks members?
VF is going to be what you want it to be, if you came trying to hook up with girls or harass other people then it's probably gonna be just another website to you but if you are here for its intention, stick to that and avoid poisonous people online. There are good people on VF that do legit share the love for the Alternative community and are around for intelligent conversation and to meet others around the globe that have an interest in the culture. Like anything else in your life, weed out the toxic people and make friends on VF that suit what your goal is and what you really want out of VF.
