Yes but only as a hobby/passtime. I'm sure there's plenty of us around (even on this site).

I dabble in the art. Currently working toward a full frame camera so I can. Advance further in some of the shots I want.

Hi, I'm sure there're plenty of us at various levels on VF.
I bought myself a DSLR a little over a year ago but never really spent any time on photography until the past month or two. Instagram is what turned me onto it, despite being awful for high quality photos the sheer volume of feedback and stuff on there makes it easy to share and learn. That, and have prompted me to start actually shooting and learning and I'm still going at a slow pace but at least I'm going, right?

What do you guys mostly shoot? I started off doing food but I'm loving every bit of Street photography more than other things now I've shot it a couple times.

Mostly river and coastal scenes when I can and sometimes macro as well. I'd love the chance to do some portraiture too but I've never been lucky enough to get the chance sadly. Oh well, maybe one day.

dux0r; indeed. Everything is a learning curve and the most important thing is that you are enjoying it as you learn. I myself don't particularly like sites like instagram etc but they can prove useful now and then.

I've been doing photography as a hobby for 8 years. This past year I was hired as a wedding photographer, so I'm finally turning my passion into a profit. Of course, the money will end up going back into photography gear...

I have a lot of experience processing film photography... not that that is useful anymore. lol I'm currently in a college program studying digital photography though.

AmethystZubat; that's how I first really got the bug by working in a dark room and doing all the developing and printing etc. There's still something quite "magical" about seeing pictures just appear on what looks like a blank sheet of paper. That was my favourite bit of the while process! :-)

I know a few people who are still using 35mm SLR's and they switch between them and digital SLR's saying its like comparing apples to oranges. FIlm for portraits, and digital for landscapes etc. The results they come out with speak for themselves.

Best of luck with your college course :-) I love photography as a passtime but I don't think I could do a course on it or use it as a profession. For me its escapism - albeit in an expensive form sometimes.

I get paid to do around a dozen shoots a year, so nothing big or fancy. On my seventh year.

Yes, I'm a photographer. I do it for my own personal reasons / enjoyment and I also get paid to do photoshoots usually from people liking my style and being like minded people, which is great because I only like promoting people or bands that I like! I would never do any art just for the money. I've been doing photography for.... since I was six years old, got into it seriously at 15... a long time. I do a lot of emotive stuff.

I never had professional training to be a photographer, but I have self-training in lighting and modes that are perhaps too formal in my ways of vales. However, I also value photography of very rare kinds.

Been playing around with urbex and abandoned stuff recently and this was my first attempt at flash bracketing. I'll be going back for some darker/punchier versions of the insides to tie together with some long exposures of the outsides of either cloud trails or star trails for a collection of dark dramatic shots from the same location.

I've just barely started to dabble in photography. I'm enrolled in a photography class this fall so I'll start building the skills needed to approach photography a little more professionally. Here are a few pictures I've taken. They were taken with a Canon Rebel T3.
