The Mirror - Garden
NoWealthNoRuin
A grand courtyard within a hotel on the inside of the border between the territories. It's been taken and retaken so many times that not even the family heads know who originally laid claim to it.

Kwon Jiyong was anything but a social butterfly, but he had plenty of practice in pretending. After all, being the CEO of Seoul's largest bank meant that every business and nearly every individual in the city earned or spent through him. He funded every gala, banquet, benefit, everything that the social elite needed done, and as payment, every official and police officer in the city looked the other way when it came to his other ventures. Many spoke of the Dragon, the man who backed and funded the kingpins that ran the underground. While he didn't have any stake in the turf war, it wouldn't continue without the money he provided. This granted him a lot of great amenities, he was glad to find. Such as the meaningless party he found himself attending and desperately wanting to skip out on. Some business or another was seeking to earn more money, and he made an appearance for publicity's sake, nothing more. Slipping his guards, he stepped out into the Mirror's garden and lit a cigarette, wishing more than anything that he was at home. Taking a long drag, he sighed. Another hour or two and he would be out of here...

(You bitch...you gave him a cigarette...)

Lyric Williams hadn't been in Korea long. She'd gotten a job as a school teacher and spent most of her days teaching small children in a large elementary school in Seoul. Though she was American and new to the area, she was fluent in the customs and language in Korea. Yet, despite being familiar and knowing jsut how to act, she was startled when a father of one of her students asked her to attend this party with him. She had initially turned him down until her boss told her to accept or she'd be fired. He must have been some large name in the school... So when she as told black tie, she located her old prom dress, one that didn't flatter her very well, and put next to no effort into her make up or her hair and she followed her escort into the ball room. After he made several annoying and inappropriate passes at her, she sent him for drinks and escaped out of the room and into the gardens, shivering int he cool night air before pulling her shawl up higher on her shoulders. Knowing she was alone, not seeing the other man, she spoke to herself in English. "...Great job, Lee.... getting yourself stuck in this shit..."

((Is it really G without that oral fixation--I mean smoking habit, though? XDD))

He heard someone walking into the gardens, but hadn't paid much attention to the new figure until he heard the person speak. English...that was interesting. His business dealings had required that he become fluent in a few different languages--English and Russian, mostly, though his accent wasn't perfect in either. This was far from the place he expected to need that skill. "Long night?" He asked, raising an eyebrow as he turned toward the person standing just a few feet away. She looked out of place, over her head...and he wondered how he hadn't seen her in the ballroom before.

(Bruh...the cigarette kills me... XDDD I also left her up for improvement so that later he can give her a make over and be like O.O OMFG)

Jumping as she heard the voice, she turned, expecting to see her date. THough, he didn't speak English. Instead she found a man far too good looking to be at a business party. He had to be an actor...a singer...something. As her eyes took in the image of the man in front of her, she felt her heart start to slow down a little as the initial fear passed. "Ah..." Giving a small bow before realizing he likely had a higher status than she did, the bow deepened to a full 90 degrees before she straightened again. "I'm sorry." She switched to Korean with ease. "I didn't know someone else was out here. I'll go back inside."

((Because Ji is all about the aesthetic. XD He'll love it, she's a project all the way around.))

"So you do speak Korean." He switched without a second thought, grateful that he wouldn't have to translate over. He had enough of a headache as it was. "Don't worry about it, the garden's big enough for the both of us. I just had to get out for a minute." He took another drag of his cigarette, letting the smoke out into the cool air. "It's crowded in there, isn't it? A bunch of well-dressed vultures..."

(Yeah!!! CAuse she usually wears shit like what Mary Margaret wears in OUAT XDDD)

"I speak Korean, yes." She nodded, speaking extremely formally. He was a big wig...she could tell that much. Hearing him say the garden was big enough for the both of them, she felt herself relax a little. As she watched him with the cigarette, she frowned slightly. "...those will kill you, you know?" As she heard the last, she gave a small smile, looking down at the ground and pulling the shawl tighter. "Aren't you one of those vultures, though?"

"So will a lot of things." He smiled, shrugging lightly. "This is a lot slower than a lot of other vices I've tried." At the last, he chuckled. "Maybe so. But I guess I'm a hypocritical one. I'm not a fan of big parties. You look a little more like a robin, though. What brings you here?"

"Other vices? You're not a very good man, are you, ahjussi?" His smile...it made her heart pound. He really was very attractive...it was dangerous. He knew he was attractive, she could tell. Her brow furrowed at his words, raising a brow. "Like a robin? What do you mean?" Did she really seem so out of place? It made sense... she was the only woman there that wasn't decked out in millions of jewels and pounds of makeup and hairspray. She was the only one that didn't seem to care how she looked. As she heard the last, she frowned slightly. "I was forced to come, honestly." Where was the harm in telling him the truth? She'd never see this man again and he couldn't be that important.

"No one at this party is considered a good person, miss." He shook his head with another soft laugh. "And I guess I'm definitely the lowest one on that list." At the question, he raised an eyebrow, looking her over. "First off, you're dressed like you found your best dress in your closet for special occasions, rather than most of the women here who dropped a few hundred dollars at a boutique this morning to have something perfect for tonight. You're dressed in an attempt to fit in, not to stand out, making you the one standing out just because everyone else is trying the same thing. And you've still got that innocent light in your eyes, like you didn't have your soul sucked out by drugs, alcohol, or money a long time ago. A robin among vultures." He slipped his free hand into the pocket of his jacket, aware of the night's chill. "Forced? That's interesting. By who?"

"You dont' think I"m a good person, ahjussi?" She smiled slightly, shaking her head as she glanced back toward the room to be sure she hand't been found yet. She could see her drunk date stumbling through the ballroom, looking for her. He was nowhere near the gardens. As he began to speak again, talking about her being a robin, alking about the way he she dressed, the way she looked, her cheeks flushed softly. She looked up at the man again, wondering if she should feel insulted or not. He claimed she stood out because she was trying not to stand out...was that a good thing, a bad thing? "I don't do things like this. I don't like things like this, even my highschool prom was..the last place I wanted to be. I'm just not a...good-looking person and these things always remind me of that. So what you're saying is I shouldn't be here? I didnt want to be in the first place. Fancy parties like this aren't my thing really." She laughed weakly. "Drugs, alcohol, money? all things I have no experience with." As she heard the last, she cleared her throat. "My boss, actually. I was asked here by someone I don't even know and my boss gave me an ultimatum. Go to the party with the strange and inappropriate man..or lose my job and be sent back to the Hell-hole that is North America."

"You don't believe it, but you are a good-looking person. You're very pretty, but you're not doing much to highlight it." He pointed out bluntly, already getting ideas for how to fix that. "The right dress, good shoes, makeup that accents your face instead of trying to hide it..." He trailed off as he heard the last, tilting his head. "That's a shitty boss. Sexual harassment or deportation? They're picking on you because you're the foreigner. So you're stuck in a den of businessmen, drug mules, and trophy wives to save your job..."

"I'm not a good-looking person, Ahjussi. You're only saying that because the dim light out here hides it." She shook her head with a weak laugh, showing the she very clearly believed the words she spoke. The right dress, good shoes, makeup...it all cost money. Money she didn't have and likely never would. Money she wasn't sure she wanted int he first place... Money corrupted...and she enjoyed not being corrupt. Innocent, as he'd stated before. As she heard the last, she looked up at the man, surprised, once again, by his beauty. He really was a very attractive man. "It seems Korea is full of them but they can't be worse than my bosses back where I'm from. At least the sexual harassment is from someone I don't see often here." With a weak laugh, she shook her head, hair falling to hide her eyes and half of her face from his view. "I'm kind of...hiding from my date right now, honestly. He keeps...doing things and I just...I feel sick when I see him now. I am...terrified of the ride home that I'll have to go through in just a couple more hours." GIvng another weak laugh, she tried to pass off her fear as a joke...but she really didn't know what this man would do by the end of hte night. "I think he's hoping I"ll become a trophy wife or something."

"I bet you that in the right light, I could tell you ten facts that prove me right." He offered with a smirk. At the last, his expression fell into something like annoyance. "Which one is he?" he asked, wondering if it was one of the men he was acquainted with. Owning the city had its perks...maybe the right word in the right place could at least alleviate this little bird's problems for the evening. It would be fair payment for being the most worthwhile person to talk to all night.

As she saw the expression change, she raised a brow. What the hell did he care which one it was that bothered her? Why did he seem so annoyed? Besides...why would she tell him who it was when the man had freely admitted that he wasn't a good man..? Shrugging, she turned her gaze toward a bridge a few yards away that went over a small creek in the middle of the gardens. "Why would that matter? It's my problem to deal with, right?" She didn't even know this man.

(Little Bird... XDD I feel like this is going to become a thing with them.)

((Oh yes.... XD))

"If you deal with it in your own nice way, they'll walk all over you. Soon your boss will encourage you to seduce him for money for whatever you do, and you'll start to feel like you're selling your body for your livelihood and you'll either end up quitting to save your pride, or you'll fall into a depression so deep that you'll either move back to America or you'll lose pieces of yourself day by day to the point that even living seems like a painful chore." He predicted, taking another drag on his cigarette. He'd seen things like this happen far too many times to assume anything different. "If you fight something like that on your own, you'll take the high road because that's who you are. And I promise, you'll lose every time."

(Straight up gonna be Danny and Sandy here. XDDD)

"So, what? You want to help me out in exchange for your own excuse to walk all over me? It hink I can handle it, ahjussi. Besides, I don't think there's much a simple business man can do in this situation. They're pretty powerful peop-" she cut off as the date neared the doors. Unaware that she'd done it at all, she moved closer to her strange companion before the man disappeared in the crowd again. She'd get an earful tomorrow... "I won't sell my body. I won't seduce anyone. I have more respect for myself than that." As he took a drag, she looked up at him and raised a brow. He really was attractive. But just who was he...? "You think I have no strength to avoid such a terrible fate? You're so certain you know me in the two seconds we've been talking that I'll take the high road?" She shook her head. "You really think I'll lose...?"

"You think I'm just a businessman? That's pretty wild." He laughed softly, shaking his head. He didn't miss the way she moved toward him, looking toward the door to see someone pass. Was that the one she was trying to avoid...? "I think you can be strong. But a life like that will wear down anyone...no matter how strong they are. I've seen a hundred people like you, little bird. In a city like this you either learn to play the game or you get eaten by those at the top of the food chain."

"If you're not a businessman, what are you?" She laughed weakly, shaking her head as she looked up at him again. Her cheeks flushed softly as he called her a bird again and she smiled a bit wider. "You really think I'm weak. Youve seen a hundred weak people, but I guarantee you've never met anyone like me." She was unique, far more unique than he could imagine... "So...what about you? Have you learned to play the game, then?"

"Play it? I won." He couldn't hide his amusement at her questions, shrugging lightly. "I don't think I've introduced myself. I'm Kwon Jiyong." She had to have heard his name, even with her recent move. After all, he owned the hotel she had been brought to, the airport that had brought her here...likely her workplace, as well. Each business in Seoul dealt with his bank, he had made sure of it. "Some of the people around here like to call me the Dragon."

"You won." She raised a brow, clearly not believing him. As she heard his name mentioned, her brow furrowed. It was a name she'd heard before, though she couldn't remember where. Her eyes moved to his again and she frowned. "Kwon....Ji..yong?" Dragon? Why was he called the Dragon? "I should know that name, I assume?"
