"i wouldn't call it a failure, even if you wanted me to leave.. At least you talked for a bit. Clearly it's longer than you are used to." She smiled softly, looking up at him. "Don't worry. I'll make sure you get home safe and in one piece. I won't let the thugs out there get you."

"Thugs?" He had been about to assure her that he could take care of himself, but that was likely not something for a young farm boy to say. Instead, he tilted his head. "I thought they weren't a problem unless you were wandering late at night."

"they're always a problem, trust me." It was how she'd met the boyfriend, after all. Thugs had followed her, she was in the process of telling them off, he saved her then offered to teach her to fight. "If it would make you feel better, safer, i could teach you to defend yourself..."

(So... Boyfriend taught her to fight. Which means she fights like a north Korean...)

((That's awesome. XD Though another nail in his coffin, as far as Idol's concerned.))

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow, wondering what sort of training they offered south of the border. "I know a little...but if you wanted to teach, I'd be grateful to learn." It would give him a good insight on what to expect from the people here, he rationalized. He'd just have to play stupid for a while.

(And make idol think she is way sexier than he first thought XDDD)

"I could teach you enough to get by. I'm still learning, myself, honestly, but I have classes." She smiled, looking up at him again. "You really are clueless, aren't you?"

((Oh yes. XD))

"Clueless? What do you mean?" He asked, a little surprised by the question. If that was her opinion, he was doing pretty well, he thought absently.

"just... You've really never been to the city before, have you? You're so serious, so... Straight faced. Like a soldier." She smiled slightly, taking a drink.

"It's...a curse, I guess. My father was in the military...and I guess raising children wasn't his strong suit." He shrugged with a self-conscious chuckle, taking a drink from his own cup. "I didn't have the most emotional family."

"Military father." She nodded, frowning slightly. "That...makes so much more sense." With a soft laugh, a weak laugh, she shook her head before looking up at him again. "So..are you really emotionless, too? Or is it just that you don't express it?"

"I'm not emotionless. ...I don't think." Granted, he hadn't had the luxury to show much in his training. Not without severe consequences. Chuckling weakly, he took another drink. "Expressing my emotions wasn't...the best idea around my father."

"You don't think." She repeated, givig a soft laugh before she shook her head and looked up at him again. "I get that. My father wasn't..exactly the kindest man, either."

"The more I see people around here, the more I wonder if that's true." He half-joked, surprised that he was able to make any humor out of this. At the last, he was surprised to find himself sympathetic. "I'm...sorry."

"Is it because they're so open with their feelings and you're not?" Raising a brow, she watched him, taking another drink. Hers was nearly gone. "You're sorry? I guess you can feel someting, can't you?"

"Exactly." He nodded, surprised by the last. "I...guess? That's not a bad thing, is it?" He added, wondering why she would ask something like that.

"It's not a bad thing at all. The people that cant or refuse to feel anything are...I don't know. I can't stand them. what's the point of living if you can't enjoy all life have to offer, the good and the bad?" She smiled, finishing her cup. "Not a lot of people think that way, though."

"You're...the first person I've met that does." He nodded, watching her in open fascination. "Sometimes...shutting yourself away isn't a choice of preference...as much as it is self-preservation."

"Self-preservation." She nodded, frowning slightly. "So do you think I should stop my way of thinking, then? Change my views on life?" She laughed softly, wondering if he thought of her as a lost cause, useless.

"N-no, not at all." He shook his head quickly, taking another drink in an attempt to keep from fidgeting. "I just...have been in situations where being open in my emotions wasn't...a good idea at all. Everyone has their reasons, is what I'm trying to say."

"I guess so. I hope you don't find yourself in situations like that anymore." She smiled weakly. "Maybe in the future you'll get to be more open. In my experience, it's better to be open and accept the consequences than be closed off and miserable."

"I haven't since I moved here." He nodded with a weak smile of his own. At the last, he gave a soft, humorless chuckle. "Not in my experience...but maybe here it's better..."
