AS she felt an arm slip around her back, strong hand on the small of her back, she opened her eyes, one hand on his chest to steady herself as she found herself face to face with quite possibly the most attractive man she'd ever seen. Her brow furrowed, unsure how to react, what to say. This was straightout of a drama...what the hell was going on? He hadn't been anywhere near her before...Where had he come from? Who was this man..? Her eyes locked on his, finding herself unable to look away for a moment, a moment far longer than necessary before she managed to find her voice. "I'm...I'm fine." His voice was strange...an accent she couldn't quite place... "Wh-who...?"

Realizing that he was still holding her after several seconds, he set her on her feet with a nervous chuckle. "S-sorry. It was lucky that I was standing here." He added, offering a shy smile. An awkward young college studebt was his cover, he remembered. In the presence of someone so pretty, it was easy to be as self-conscious and unsure as he needed to be.

"You...weren't standing here." She frowned slightly, watching him. He was shy...? Something told her he wasn't as shy as he acted. It just didn't seem...he was the shy type. Embarrassed, yes. Nervous, yes. But shy...? Shy was just odd on such a beautiful face. As he set her on her feet, she shifted a little, giving a soft curse as she realized her pants were wet from the water on the ground. She looked up at him again, cheeks a pale pink. "But thank you, either way. You saved me from a nasty head-bump, or worse, I"m sure."

"I uh...slid a little on the water. It probably felt cooler than it looked." He laughed again, brushing his hair back from his face with a smile. "I'm glad you're okay, miss. That could have hurt a lot." Why was talking to a woman so difficult? She was a person, the same as any of the soldiers he had grown up with, it any of the men he had met since he arrived in this godforsaken country. But her voice, the way she blushed...it was breathtaking.

"It felt cooler," she repeated, a soft laugh leaving her. For a moment, her gaze moved to Chulsoo sitting across the restaurant. He was too focused on the street outside to even notice her in the arms of some other man. Some man that was...putting it bluntly, much more attractive and closer to her age. She looked up at the younger man again and gave a small smile. "I'm a little clumsy. Stuff like this happens to me all the time. I would have lived, but you're right. It would have hurt like hell." With another laugh, she lifted her hand, pushing her hair back from her face. "Thank you, again. I'm glad I won't have another trip to the hospital in the near future." As she straightened, pulling her shirt to flatten the new wrinkles from where he'd held her, she looked up at him again. "I'm Somin. Park Somin."

"Another? That's...pretty clumsy." He blurted before he could stop himself, giving a small bow at her introduction. "Lee Haejin." Every movement she made was fascinating. He had to regroup and focus or soon every woman in the country would distract him, he thought sharply. But in the wake of her attention, he found he couldn't do anything but return it. "It's...a pleasure to meet you."

"Another." She nodded, giving a soft laugh. "I said I was clumsy. I meant it." Haejin... It was odd, the name wasn't one she heard often. "It's nice to meet you, too, Lee Haejin-si." She smiled slightly, eyes on his for a moment longer before giving a small bow of her own. "Is this your first time here? You seem a little lost."

"I..not alloweded here a few days ago. I don't know the city at all; I was trying to find my way home and I got...even more lost than I expected." He rubbed the back of his neck with a nervous laugh. "I decided to regroup with a cup of coffee before trying again."

"Oh...I just meant the cafe. You seem new to the cafe. You just moved here?" She looked up at him in surprise. He seemed like a city boy. Like he was perfectly at home here in Seoul. As she heard that he was lost, she couldn't hold back a small smile. Her gaze moved toward Chulsoo who now saw her talking to the man. He didn't seem happy...and almost immediately, he stood and walked out of the restaurant. Great...she'd have to deal with that later.... "Do you need directions home? I could show you how to get back."

"I've never been in this neighborhood before. But I like this cafe--I hope I can remember where it is for the next time." At the last, he nodded, smile gaining strength before he followed her gaze. It seemed the man was the jealous type. Perhaps if he weren't so paranoid, he wouldn't have so much to worry about... "I'd like that. But do you...need to go after him? I don't want to cause any trouble between you and your date."

Raising a brow, knowing she'd only seen him since he caught her, she couldn't hold back a small smile. "i never said i had a date. How do you know i do? Were you watching me, Mr. Lee?" He was cute. Slightly awkward, nervous. It was like he'd never talked with a woman before. How odd... Especially with his looks.

Flushing at the question, he rubbed the back of his neck, shaking his head. "N-no! Well, not...watching, I just noticed you when I walked in." He corrected quickly.

Laughing softly, she shook her head. "Relax. Evwn if you were watching, id be flattered. As foe him...im tired of cleaning up hia issues. Im tired of not having a say in anything, I'm tired of being property instead of human. And im tired of him doing everything in his power tk make sure i have no one in my life but him. I swear, it's like hes from the North." Shaking her head, shw scoffed. "He can cool off and work out his own solution. When hea ready to talk with me like an equal and stop jumping to conclusions, I'll be there.

Surprised by the comment--joking as it might have been--he raised an eyebrow at her decision to let the man be. This couldn't be going any better, he thought. With her washing her hands of whatever drama Chulsoo created between them, it prevented him from using her as a human shield again. With a small smile, he commented, "Wow...it sounds like you're doing more for him than he is for you...if you don't mind me saying."

"I'm just sick of being treated more like property, like the old days, than like a woman." She shrugged, thinking for a moment. "I had a friend that escaped from the North before she went to America. And she told me all about how women are treated there, it's like a drama. An old drama, where the woman are expected to be quiet, not speak unless spoken to. It's like...there are hardly any rights in the north given to the men and there are none to the women." She shrugged. "I imagine the way he treats me is how they treat their women there, too. It's ust so...frust-" she cut off, realizing she was still talking before she flushed softly. "I...am talking too much. You don't care about this. I'm so sorry..."

"N-no, I care!" He was quick to assure her, shaking her head. She knew a defector? He was surprised to hear of how women were treated, wondering for a moment if he had met a single one since he entered the army at age eight. "That sounds...awful, really. If he treats you so badly, why have you stayed so long? Don't you deserve better than that?"

"It's what they're...raised like there. It's just...normal for them." She smiled slightly. "I wonder a lot if the people in the north ever really realize...how terrible it is there. How much better it would be if they could all just...leave." She frowned, thinking of her friend for a moment before she shook he head. "Sorry. I didn't mean to make the conversation so serious. I just...I dont know" Shaking her head, she lifted a hand to her hair. She should really stop talking about ht enorth. It was what got her into a lot of trouble. Especially with sympathizers. "He doesn't treat me badly...he ust doesn't treat me like a perosn. It's...complicated" She shook her head before looking up at him again. "And...who said I've een with him long?"

"I'm sure if it were that easy, there would be more people coming through." he commented, humming thoughtfully before shaking his head at the last. "I don't mind, really. I...study a lot of current events. There's a lot about the tensions between the countries that I like to hear about." He added with a small smile. At the question, he ran his hand over his mouth. "You've been with him long enough to know how he treats you, long enough to analyze it and compare it to what you've heard. You've thought a lot about it...I assume it's because it's been long enough that you know it's his personality instead of assumptions based on misunderstanding him."

"But if all of them decided to go at once, there's no way the government could stop everyone." She shook hre head. "You like hearing about the re-unification attempts, too?" She couldn't hide her surprise. Most in the south either sympathized or tried to ignore it. As she saw him run his hand ove rhis mouth, she couldn't deny ow attractive it was. When she heard the last, she nodded slightly. "I've been with him for a few months now. Not too long to be terribly serious, btu long enough to know that he needs to change or we need to split. I'm too...strong-willed, too abrasive to have a man that won't treat me like a human being."

(Poor baby loves his country so much, tho... and she's over here insulting it... XD)

((He does. XD He doesn't know what to make of it. XD))

"I like hearing all sides of the story. If they didn't believe it so completely, if they didn't think they had the right idea...they wouldn't be working so hard." He had to keep most of his opinions to himself, he knew. If she even began to suspect him, he'd be the one on the kill list. He had done too much and trained too hard to be thrown into the spotlight by a woman, no matter her beauty. At the last, he couldn't hide a smile. "You're...a lot more confident than a lot of women I've seen here. You know what you want...and what is best for you."
