"Doctor? No, I'm not the one that--" His eyes widened as he saw her darkening skin, reaching out and gently taking her arm, all traces of a smile gone from his face. "I...I hurt you." He said at last, feeling his chest sink at the thought. That definitely wasn't what he wanted. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to...do you need to go to a doctor? Is there something I can do?" He asked, fingers brushing gingerly over the wounded skin.

As she felt his touch, heard the concern in his voice, her heart jumped. Cheeks flushing lightly, she tried to pull her arm free from his grip again, but forcing it away only made it throb. She winced slightly. "No. No, I"m okay. You don't have to worry, Chanhi-ah.." She flushed slightly. "You didn't hurt me. I'm alright. I'd rather have a little bruise than be dead."

"But still." His frown deepened, fingers still brushing her skin gently. As he massaged the bruises, he felt his hands grow a little warmer, giving off more heat than he was used to. The warmth radiated into her skin, his wishes to take the pain away strengthening as he apologized once again. "I didn't want to hurt you, I wanted to save you. And it's my fault you're here in the first place."

"It's just a little bruise. I get worse every day at ho-" she cut off, realizing what she'd almost said before she felt the warmth in his touch. Her heart sped a bit more and she felt his fingers move over the bruise. The bruise that was starting to nto hurt so much...the bruise that was starting to fade. What the hell had happened...? What was going on?

"Worse than this? I didn't realize I grabbed you so hard." He gave a nervous laugh, unaware of what he was doing as he looked to her face once again as she cut her sentence short. "Are you sure you're okay? What is it?"

"Worse....than this.." her voice was soft, absent as she gave a small nod. Her eyes moved to his as her brow furowed. She looked almost afraid. "You're...my..my arm." She looked down again, seeing the bruise--or what used to be a bruise. It was gone.

"What about it?" He asked before following her gaze, feeling the warmth leave his fingers as the bruise vanished altogether. Had he done that? Was he able to do more than just run quickly now that he was in his situation? Or could it be...that he was meant to help this strange girl? Looking up to her once again, he met her eyes in wonder and confusion. "You...must really heal fast..." He said at last, giving a soft chuckle.

"i...I dont heal fast." Whe shook her head, staring down at her arm in shock. After a moment, she pulled up her uniform sleeve to show him a line of bruises littering her skin. "Some of these have been here for days. How... How did you do that?" She hadn't meant to show him her bruises, she hadn't wanted to... But she was in shock...

"What happened? Are all of these from falling?" He asked, worry returning before he shrugged lightly at her question. "I mean my mom is a massage therapist, but I'm not very good at it. Maybe I hit the right pressure point?" He had always assumed that this was some sort of weird out-of-body experience...maybe it was something more like a guardian angel...

She ignored his questions about the marks on her body, unaware that one of the bruises was startign to resemble teeth marks. She pulled her arm from his grasp, shaking her head again. "Pressure points would ease the pain, it wouldn't make the bruise go away completely. Do you even hear yourself?" After a moment, she looked up at him again. "Your hands were so...warm and...you did something. And now it's gone."

"I don't know." He had absolutely no idea what he had done; only that he was the one that had done it. And even then he wasn't a hundred percent sure. He found he didn't know what to say, how to explain what had just gone on. Not wanting her to be afraid, he decided to make light of it, a wide grin spreading across his face. "...Maybe I'm a superhero."

"Or an angel." She watched him, heart pounding in her chest. After a moment she realized people were staring. She was still sitting on the side of the road. "It's...can we go to that cafe now? It's coldout here."

"Yeah, sorry." He stood, wondering about her words before holding his hand out to her once again. "Come on, it's right around the corner. ...You really think I could be an angel?"

Slipping frozen fingers into his hand, she rose to her feet, looking up at him as her fingers closed around his. "I mean, how else do you explain catching me today of all days and saving my life like that? And then healing my arm?"

"I don't know that I was the one that did that." He pointed out, leading her more carefully down the street. "And honestly if I didn't ask you to get coffee with me I wouldn't have put you into danger. I'm a pretty crappy angel because of that, right?" He wouldn't lie and say that he didn't feel a little bad for it.

"You were the one that did that." He nodded, giving a soft laugh. "Trust me. It's never happened before. You had to have done it." Surprised he was still holding her hand, she let her fingers tighten around his. "I think you're...a good angel, honestly." She smiled weakly. "For te first time in...well, since I can remember, I'm not...upset, I'm not afraid. I'm just...content."

"You spend so much of your life upset and afraid?" He couldn't hide his worry, holding the door to the cafe open for her as they reached their destination. As he had predicted, the place was quiet save for a few customers, giving them a quiet, peaceful change from the excitement of the street. "If I'm an angel, maybe I'm your angel." He offered, shooting her a grin. "I'll make sure you always have a reason to smile, okay?"

"I...um...I'm talking too much." She shook her head, looking down as she stepped through the door. He couldn't know what went on at home. She couldn't tell anyone... AS she heard the last, she felt her lips curl into a small smile. "Maybe you're my angel? How do you expect to always make me smile? You don't even know which class I'm in, where I go, who I am..."

Byungjoo found that the city was both completely different and exactly the same. He had gone to school in Seoul, grown up amongst the noise and the people and he found that he missed it when his family moved to Jeju to help his mother's health as he was finishing high school. A few years of quiet life and serving tourists at a family restaurant were all right, but he missed the heartbeat of the streets, the cars and the buildings and the music... But of course things were far darker now that he had grown up. An unsuccessful day of trying to find a job had ended poorly, prompting him to pull a guitar case from the pile of boxes he had shoved into his new apartment. He needed to unwind. Walking to a nearby park, he found a nice place near a small pond, sitting beneath a tree and plucking out a soft melody he had written a few years before. Singing softly along, he tried to release his tension.
