The Alley
NoWealthNoRuin HK's Territory
Much less intricate than the Rabbit Hole's labyrinth, just a small series of back roads behind the Shooting Star and the other businesses on the block.

"I'm sure you've got people to miss you." He hummed softly, nodding at her, helping her onto an exam table before turning around. "I...may not be able tosee you again, but I'll be sure you see your friend, you know how she's doing." He looke back at her for a moment, careful not to let her see his eyes as he gave a small bow and turned to leave the room.

"No friends, no family, an eviction notice on my door...I'm not exactly living the high life, ahjussi. That scoop was supposed to save me." She shook her head, easing herself onto the bed with his help. At the last, before he could leave the room, she called after him, "Thank you...I owe you my life."

(I'm gonna wobbly to like a couple days later, when she's released from her bed and able to walk around the base...so she can find him. XD)

TWo days had passed. Daeyoung had done everything in his power not to go visit the girl, not to let her know he was the one who had saved her. So as he stood beside one of the buildings, shoveling into the dirt, sweat beading over his skin, he ignored the jokes from Sijin saying he was doing every little piece of work to keep from seeing his girlfriend. It was true...he was doing even the lowest jobs to keep his mind from her...and it wasn't working. lifting a bare arm to brush over his forehead, then his cheek, he winced when he felt the pull of the wound on his cheek, he hissed.

Insistent on walking a little to help speed her recovery, Eunji made her way around the base, careful not to strain the wounds she had gotten in that dark warehouse. Already she had caught several soldiers on their morning run, watching and commenting on the lovely view with a few nurses before she rounded a corner and saw the last person she expected to see again. There was Daeyoung, the man she had thought of often since the night they met, shirtless, sweating, and looking far more attractive than anything she had ever seen. "Batman?" She asked with a smile, moving to stand in front of him. "I thought I'd never see you again, what are you doing he--" Breaking off as she saw the cut on his cheek, her eyes widened as she recalled the night of her rescue and the wound her rescuer had gotten. "You...you're the soldier who saved me..."

He froze as he heard the girl's voice, trying to ignore the relief he felt at hearing her voice, knowing she was well. He turned his gaze to her, abut to respond as a small smile fell on his lips before he saw her surprise, hand moving to cover the owund on his cheek. He cleared his throat, straightening a little. "I had no idea you were here. Soldier who saved you from what? Lots of soldiers have cuts on their faces here." If she knew he was on that team, knew he was one of the alpha members....it could be dangerous for her...

"You're not a good liar, ahjussi." She pointed out, crossing her arms as her smile gained a little strength. She couldn't hide her happiness that he was there, that she knew he was all right. After a moment, she raised an eyebrow. "Do higher-ranking officers usually do grunt work around here?"

"YOu think I would be with my job." He frowned, hearing her mention his rank. Was it really so obvious that he wasn't a normal soldier? As he lowered his hand from his cheek, he looked her over for a moment before shaking his head. "How do you feel? Are you doing well?"

"As good as I can be, but I'm healing fast." She assured him with a nod. "How about you? Is this where you had to run off to?" It was an effort keeping her focus on his face, instead of the rest of his visible torso, but she was proud to manage it. She thought he was attractive before, but this was...definitely something else.

He thought back to the time he'd left, the mission in Afghanistan... He shook his head slowly. "No...this is...this is my vacation, actually." Realizing that he was shirtless and, frankly, quite gross, he gave a nervous smile, leaning over to gather up his shirt and slip it back ove rhis head with a soft apology. "Do you need anything? What did the doctors say?"

Waving off his apology and assuring him that everything was all right, she shrugged at the last. "Some internal and external bruising, superficial cuts...I was advised to take it easy for a week or two, but I'll live. Definitely the most interesting adventure I've been on so far." Then, unable to help the joke though she knew she should know better, she couldn't hide a smirk. "...Digging ditches is your vacation? I think you need to have a talk with that captain of yours, ahjussi."

He heard her words, unable to hold back a soft laugh, shaking his head. "On our vacation taht captain of mine is the one that saved your pregnant friend's life." He gestured to the man across the field, assisting another soldier in disarming a mine. Turning his attention back to her, he smiled weakly. "But otherwise you're alright? Nothing else more serious? That cut on your stomach...really worried me."

"Well, I guess I'll have to thank him, too." She decided with a a soft laugh of her own, feeling a small amount of pride that she'd gotten such a reaction out of him. Fingers moving to the wound as he mentioned it, feeling the bandages beneath the fabric of the oversized t-shirt she had borrowed from the soldiers' supply room at the doctors' direction. "Steel-toed boots...it didn't do as much damage as it could have. At worst, I'll have a cool scar to remember this by."

"I'll deliever the message for you if you'd like." He saw her hand move to the wound, wondering if it was bothering her. AS she mentioned the boots, he tensed, frowning. After a moment, he cleared his throat. "I wish I'd been authorized to kill them..."

"That would be great, thanks." She gave a wide smile, pleased that the woman was not only doing all right, but she and her unborn child were healthy. At the last, she raised an eyebrow, surprised to see him upset over the wound. "Because of this? I was stupid enough to try to run, remember? I'm just happy this is the worst of it. No broken bones, I can still walk...it could have been a lot worse. Better me than someone more important, anyway." She waved him off, the image of the small pink slip of paper tacked to her locked door returning to her. It was good that the soldiers were kind enough to accommodate her, she thought in passing. She'd have to find a place that would accept her once they sent her home.

Seeing what looked like worry cross her face, he straightened a little. "You need to stop thinking is better you get hurt than anyone else. You're not a useless person, youre just as important as anyone else, you're not someone to just throw away, and it's not better that you got yourself nearly killed...or worse.' He frowned, giving a soft sigh after a moment, and moving to take a drink of water. "So...that extension didn't last long..."

She felt her face heat, surprised by his insistence as she leaned against the nearby building. "Three days was pretty generous, honestly. But nothing I found was good enough for the magazine to use. The news station I was applying to would have paid me enough to appeal the eviction when I went after the drug ring...but I didn't think they had anyone watching the roof."

He sighed softly, shaking his head, looking up at her. "So when you go back to Korea...you have no place to stay? No job?" He chewed his lip for a moment before waving Kibum over to take a bottle of water from the man.

"Not yet. I'm pretty sure that station thinks I'm dead or something." She gave the boy a smile and a slight bow of greeting as he came over, finding his bright smile infectious. Trying not to seem as bothered by the thought of being jobless and homeless as she truly was, she gave a light shrug. "It's nothing I can't get through. As long as my car's still there when I get back, I'll have a place to sleep until I can get enough together to stay at a hotel until I'm on my feet again. I've made it this far, what's another bump in the road?"

He bit his lip, thinking over her words before sighing softly and nodding. "Well...at least until you're healed completely you'll be staying at the base. Possibly longer if you have a job you'd like to take here." They could use all the help they could get... "I'm sure your car will be fine."

"I'm not a doctor or a soldier. I'm not sure you guys would have any place for me." She pointed out, surprised he was being so kind to her despite knowing next to nothing about her. By all rights, he had only really known her for a few collective hours. "I don't want to be in your way, ahjussi."
