With a deep chuckle at her words, he led her down the staircase and through a closed door. Just on the other side was smooth jazz, a piano singer, and a classy bar with only a handful of people in suits and classy dresses. He glanced back to her. "Welcome to headquarters."

She took in every detail, finding that the more she saw, the more she loved it. This was like something out of a twenties crime novel, some hard-hitting mystery in the middle of the unforgiving city. "Your headquarters...is a speakeasy hidden in a library?" She asked, turning back to him with a grin. "That's...amazing."

With a small smirk at her words, he raised a brow before leading her to the bar itself. "IT's not techinically headquarters. but it is where I conduct most of my work."

"It's still something out of the jazz age. This place is incredible." She followed after, smile widening as the singer started in on a familiar tune. "Sinatra? Nice touch."

With a soft chuckle, he raised a brow at the girl. "You think so? I"m glad you like it."

"I'm...a sucker for things like this." She admitted, flushing as she realized that he was likely laughing at her reaction.

"YOu like Jzz, then?" He raised a brow, still watching her closely before clearing his voice and ordering a drink. His gaze moved to her again. "What are you drinking?"

"I grew up on jazz; I love it." She nodded with a smile, ordering a simple rum and coke. "My mom has records filling three boxes; there was always some kind of music going in the house."

"I'm glad to see you're enjoying yourself." He smirked, amused by the drink and by the love of music the girl seemed to possess. After a moment, he cleared his throat and slipped the bartender an extra bill. "So you like music. Do you have a favorite song?"

"That depends on the genre. I listen to a little bit of everything." She admitted with a soft laugh. "For jazz, it has to be "Beyond the Sea". Bobby Darin is an old favorite."

"That's a good one." He nodded, smiling slightly. As the singer finished his song, a new one started up and he looked up at the girl again. "What kind of music do you like,t hen?"

"Jazz, pop, several kinds of rock...hip hop. Some metal, but there has to be more singing than screaming." She listed, thanking the bartender as he slid their drinks toward the pair. "How about you?"

He gave a soft hum. "I'm..picky with my music. I like rap." Because he did rap, but that was more something he kept to himself and his immediate friends. "I like songs from every genre, but it's more the specific song I like than the style."

"Rap is great." Nodding, she hummed softly at his explanation. "That's how I look at it. It's pretty rare I like one artist rather than one or two songs they have."

"You like rap?" He raised a brow, watching her closely. "We have an open mic night here at least once a week. YOu'll have to come see it sometime. We have some excellent rappers and singers here."

"That sounds great." She couldn't keep from grinning at the thought. "So, I have to ask...why a library?"

"You...have a point there." She laughed, taking a drink. "So it's just as much for the function as it is for the retro feel. An actual speakeasy."

"Believe me, I'm already having the time of my life." She assured him with a laugh, fingers tracing along the edge of her glass. "This is worth the double shift from hell."
