"Then...how about...not a new house?" He watched her closely, wondernig how she'd take the offer. He knew it was stupid to offer, tat a sane woman would say no, would laugh in his face or run away screaming. He was being reckless... "Why not just move into mine?"

That was definitely unexpected. She had to take a moment to process his words, turning to face him, surprise clear on her face. "You...you'd really do that?" She had all but offered the same for him a few minutes before, she knew, but this was...different. He had a home, a life, a role in the city to fulfill...and he was offering her a small place in his life?

"I mean..until you could find a place for yourself that you like well enough. And a job that you enjoy doing." He nodded, watching her closely. Was she offended that he'd even offered? "I know you don't know me well...but I could leave you alone, give you as much space as you like. I don't even have to be in the house much with my job."

"You wouldn't have to leave me alone, Yongguk-si." She shook her head with a smile. "Honestly that's...an incredible offer. I'd love to take you up on it." Then, as an afterthought, she added, "As long as it wouldn't be too much trouble for you.

"I wouldn't have to leave you alone?" He raised a brow, watching her. "I assume you'd want your space sometime...You'll get sick of me and my work fairly quickly, I imagine." With a small smile, he leaned over her to watch her work. "So...would you like to live with me, then?"

"I don't mind my space, but I also like being your friend." She reminded him, remembering the food in the pan and making sure it wouldn't burn from her distraction. With a smile at the last, she brushed all thoughts of dramas she had seen out of her mind. Things didn't just happen that way, she knew. And this growing crush of hers would have to stop before it started causing trouble. But a change of pace would do her some good. "Yes, I would." She said at last. "I couldn't get sick of you, and whatever work you do is your business. If you don't mind me being in your space, of course."

"Then, like I said, you'll owe me no rent...just cook my dinner and we'll call it even. You can save your money for when you're ready to find your own place and you can find a job you like to have." He smiled, surprised to feel his heart jump at her agreement. She would live with him. He could see her every day... that felt...amazing. "You're sure you won't be...uncomfortable with the fact that I kill?"

"I know you don't kill without reason. You told me that much the night we met." She shrugged lightly, feeling a little lighter for her agreement. She'd be able to see him every day...that fact shouldn't have made her as happy as it did. "Just don't stumble home inches from death anymore, okay? You scared the hell out of me." She added with a soft laugh.

"Home?" She was already referring to the place as home. For a split second, he allowed himself to imagine coming home from work, finding a warm meal waiting for him. He took her into his arms, pressed a soft kiss to her lips...and then his mind came back to him and he found himself staring at the woman's lips in front of him. Right...he couldn't do that. She wouldn't kiss a man like him, anyway. "I promise. No more stumbling home bleeding...I'll just die next time." He smiled.

"If you die, I will find a way to bring you back and kill you myself, Bang Yongguk." She brandished a spoon at him with her best glare. "Call me or something if you need someone to patch you up. I'll find you." She didn't miss the glance he took toward her lips, wondering if something had splattered on her and running the back of her hand over her mouth self-consciously. "Is there...something on my face?"

Unable to hold back a soft chuckle at the way she moved the spoon, he nodded, agreeing softly with her orders. As she moved her hand over her lips, he felt his cheeks flush softly and he shook his head. "No No, there's nothing on your face. Why?"

"You were staring...I thought something had splashed on me." She shook her head, relaxing a little at his agreement. Turning back to the pan, she hummed softly, grabbing a few clean spoons from the drawer and tasting one of the vegetables before using the second to grab another and holding it out to him. "Do you think this needs anything?" She asked with a slight frown. "It tastes like it's missing something..."

"...I didn't realize I was staring. Forgive me." He smiled softly, watching her move before he saw the movement. With a wider smile, he leaned forward, tasting the vegetable she gave him with a soft hum. "...Garlic maybe?"

Realizing as she saw him lean forward to taste the dish without taking the spoon from her hand, she was aware of how familiar and strangely...intimate the exchange was. This was something that she could imagine would happen between two people in love...not newly-made friends. Flushing lightly, she focused on his words, brightening a little before reaching into the spice cabinet. "Garlic...perfect." She agreed with a smile.

Seeing her brighten, he smiled, watching her work. She really was stunning. His heart was pounding. Why was it ounding? With a soft hum, he leaned against hte counter. "So...what do you want to do when you quit your job?"

"I never really thought about it." She hummed, turning the heat down under the pan as she added the seasoning and moving to rinse a measure of rice before setting up the rice cooker on the counter. "I've always done odd jobs since I moved here...waitressing or retail...something where the people hiring me didn't ask too many questions about why I needed a job so badly." She gave a soft, humorless chuckle at the thought. "The only credentials I have are cooking and being able to patch animals up...and apparently mobsters." She added, shooting him a smile.

"Mobster...you make it sound so...crude." He laughed softly, watching her closely. "Do you think so lowly of me? That I"m a simple mobster?" After a moment, he gave a soft smile. "So...do you like to cook, then?"

"You're anything but crude." She shook her head with a soft laugh. "And you're a lot more than a mobster. In what you do and how you work." At the last, she nodded, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Yeah. I mean, I don't know anything complicated, but I like to cook. It's nothing compared to your mother's though." She had been guilty of ordering in a few times since he started staying with her, she recalled with a laugh.

He hummed softly at her words, watching her work in curiosity. After a moment, he chuckled softly. "So why not see if my mom needs some help at the cafe? She'll teach you anything you could ever dream of making...and we know she likes you already."

"She told me the last time I picked up dinner that she's glad you're making normal friends." She pointed out with a chuckle. The thought was...pretty great, if she were honest with herself. "You think she would take on someone with no experience?"
