The move had been easier than Nari expected. Whatever work he did was left unmentioned (though she did ask about it from time to time) and between their schedules, they had a surprising amount of free time together. She cleaned when she could, and made sure that there were meals for him when he came home late, and found a place in his life that she was very quickly growing fond of. She moved jobs almost immediately, quickly growing close to his mother and finding that cooking was a passion she hadn't expected. Walking home after wrapping up her shift one night had her lost in her thoughts, a bag of food in her arms sent by the woman she was quickly seeing as a mother. Absently she was aware of a few thugs hovering close to the next building, watching her as she fished for her key and slipped it into the lock. One catcalled her, loudly propositioning her for a good time before catching an elbow to the ribs from one of his friends, warned in a not-that-subtle tone of voice that she was "The boss' woman" and off-limits, or else. Opening the door to slip out of their view, she wondered if moving into her friend's home was giving his underlings the wrong impression...

Yongguk had been waiting anxiously for her to come home. She'd been staying in his home for a while now and they'd been growing closer... She hadn't mentioned that man she was so in love with since she came and he found himself wondering every day if she was still in love with that man. It drove him wild thinking she might be. It was torture..thinking she could be in love but living with him...but at least it wasn't one of his men. At least he wouldn't see them together when she decided to tell the man. And she would, he was sure. She wasnt the type to keep to herself for long... HIs heart twisted, fingers fiddling with the little box he'd wrapped as a gift for her. When the door opened, he jumped to his feet, hair falling in his face as he smiled, waiting for her to round the corner.

"I'm home!" She called, dropping her keys on the table by the door and rounding the corner into the living room. Surprised to see the very man she had been thinking about, she offered a warm smile, holding the bag up. "Eomma wanted me to make sure you got this. You know some of your guys are outside?" She assumed that he did, but if they were making comments toward her, they might be causing trouble or others. Setting the bag down on the table, she added, "How was your day?"

"Eomma has really got to stop feeding us every day." He laughed softly, moving to take the bag from her arms and set it on the kitchen counter. At the mention of his men, he tensed. "Did they say anything to you? Did they bother you? They're supposed to be looking for someone who..owes me a bit of money." He glanced back to her, he didn't really talk work with her, he didn't want to frighten her. "My day was alright. A little unproductive. What about yours?"

"She keeps telling me that you're too thin. That I should take care of you more." She pointed out with a laugh, thanking him as he took the bag. At the questions, she waved off his concern. "It looked like they've been celebrating a job well done. One tried to start some trouble, but one of his friends was sober enough to tell him off. I think that they think we're dating." That thought shouldn't make her heart beat as hard as it did, she told herself firmly. Most of the time she was able to set aside her feelings for him, though living in his house did nothing to make them disappear. In fact, every moment they spent together, every new thing she learned about him...made her more sure by the day that she was in love. At the last, she shoved those thoughts aside yet again, smile gaining strength. "I ran the kitchen for an hour while Eomma picked up a delivery and nothing burned down. I think I'm getting the hang of things." She couldn't hide the pride in her voice, glad that this job had given her a chance to be something other than the waitress that even the management liked to step on.

"She acts like we're married, I"m sorry." He laughed weakly, shaking his head. As heheard the mention of them dating, he felt happiness swell in his chest. His men were afraid, worried. That aas good. "They think we're dating. There's no thinking they might, they do. I told them that we were.." He felt his cheeks flush softly. "It's..protective measures. If they think you're mine they won't make a move toward you, you'll be...safe." He smiled weakly. "I hope you don't mind." At the last, he looked up at her with a wider smile. "I'm proud of you. My momwouldn't have left you alone if she didn't think you were capable. You must be impressing her."

Waving his apology off, she heard the admission, surprised that he would say such a thing to his men. The thought of his feelings toward some unknown woman came back, picking and scratching at the back of her mind before she could sweep it away again. "I...I don't mind." She shook her head, smile returning. "Thank you for looking out for me." At the last, she brightened, pulling boxes of his favorite chicken and several sides from the bag and setting them on the counter. "Really? I was wotrued that I'd never catch up to her for a while. Learning the recipes, the equipment, the rhythm of the kitchen...I don't know how she does it. All I really did today was wing it...I think everything kept turning out right because I was lucky."

"I...will look out for you until you force me not to." With a small smile, a weak smile, he moved his fingers through his hair, pushing it back from his face before he looked at her again. "You weren't lucky..you're good. You're learning more than you think you are. You're doing...amazingly well. And the fact that my mother is allowing you to learn all her secrets is...amazing. She really likes you." He bit his lip, fingers slipping into his pocket, fiddling witht he gift once again as he wondered if he could really give it to her.

Unaware of his fidgeting as she pulled a few plates down from the cabinets, she couldn't hold back a proud smile. "Really? That's...a really big compliment. I wonder what made me so special; she fired three cooks before me." As an afterthought, she added, "This probably won't taste as good as hers, she had me make the last batch of the night."

"it'll taste amazing. Everything you cook does." He smiled softly, watching her work for a moment before he cleared his throat. "...how long have we known each other now?"

"Flattery gets you nowhere, Yongguk." She teased, setting the plates on the counter before looking up at him at the question. "About...four months now. Why?"

"Flattery gets me everywhere." He chuckled softly, glancing up at her for a moment before he looked down at the ground by his feet. "I just.. I was thinking. Wondering if four months is too early to...to give you something. A..a thank you. For saving my life, for staying with me and being my friend, for looking after me and allowing me to look after you. I...got you a gift today."

"You...what?" Her heart wasn't racing, she told herself firmly, though she couldn't hide a smile at his embarrassment. He didn't seem to have much experience in this department. "That's...incredibly sweet. If I knew, I would have gotten you something, too; I've got more to thank you for than you do for me."

"You don't ahve to get me anything. It was just...it's..I don't know, something I've been wanting to do for a while." He offered a weak smile, fingers reaching into his pocket to close around the little box again. When he managed to calm his heart, at least as best he could, he pulled it from his pocket and moved closer to hold it out to her. "Here. It's...just something small." A simple, silver necklace, the pendant in the shape of a snowflake, decorated with several sparkling crystals.

Opening the box with a smile, her eyes widened as she saw what lay within. "Yongguk, it's beautiful..." She breathed, fingers brushing over the pendant reverently. Fixing him with a warm smile as she looked back to him once again, she moved to pull him into a tight hug without thinking. "Thank you...I love it."

"i figured a snowflake was fitting because--" cutting off as he felt her arms around him, he looked down at her in surprise. This was the closest she'd gotten to him since she'd saved his life. His heart was pounding.

Feeling his heart pounding through his chest, she realized that she hadn't been so close to him since he helped her out of that alley the night they met. Her racing heart matched his before she moved to release him with a soft, slightly nervous laugh. "Sorry, I know you like your space. Why does the snowflake fit?" She asked, hoping she hadn't offended him with the gesture.

He continued to stare, hearing the reasoning. It made his heart twist and he couldn't hold back a small frown, knowing she hugged him only for one reason... And it wasn't the one he wanted. The apology made it worse. If she was sorry over a simple hug.... Before he could think twice, he reached down, arms winding around her to pull her into a gentle hug, fingers on her back gently. "I don't like too much space..." His voice was soft, a mumble.

She was sure her heart stopped for a moment, startled by the shift before she melted against him, hugging him once again. It was crazy, she thought, just how happy a simple gesture like this could make her, but if she could feel what it was like to be in his arms for a moment or two, she'd gladly take the chance. "Good, I was worried that I had gone too far." She said at last.
