The Quarry
NoWealthNoRuin
Once used for mining limestone in days long past, it's now a place frequented by Hakyeon's rougher "brothers" for interrogation purposes.

((Ooh, I like this. XD Gotcha covered.))

Two more escape attempts passed before Jaerim realized that the woman's words were true--she didn't wish to be alone. Not for a moment. He had taken her back to the warehouse once again, hoping the dark, uncomfortable place might help her give more information as to the file's whereabouts. He wondered if the nearby quarry was where she had thought to hide it, when she meant to meet her informant all those days ago. He had purchased a set of radios in a last-ditch attempt to prevent her from leaving every time he had to take care of business, informing her of which channel she needed to reach him before telling her that he would only be a few miles away. He was getting sick of this game, wishing desperately that things would come to a conclusion soon and that he could go home.

Minjun hated this. The radio that enabled her to talk to the man only in the cases of emergencies weren't really helpful. She hadn't been sleeping, she hadn't had much to eat as she'd been feeling off. The drafty warehouse made her muscles ache and her head pound...and when the man told her once again that he was leaving, she planned another escape, wanting to go back to the field she'd worked in the first time she'd managed to get away. He at least knew where she'd be and she knew the woman that owned the field well enough that she wouldn't mind her dropping in again. But as she made her way toward the door, she felt her head start to swim, her body grow hot...and then she didn't feel anything, she didn't see anything, lying face up on her back, the fever she hadn't known she'd been building spiked and she lay unconscious on the floor, breathing coming in soft wheezes.

Coming back unsuccessful was something he hated, but for the life of him he couldn't find that damned file. He was contemplating calling his father and demanding to know what was so important about a few papers that he would force the younger man to put his entire life on hold. Returning to the warehouse, he opened the door, half-expecting to find it empty once again before he saw the figure crumpled on the floor. His mind ran through every possibility as he knelt by her side, inspecting her carefully as shock and something entirely too much like worry flooded his mind. "Miss? Miss, can you hear me?" He asked, frowning as he checked her for any wounds, finding that she was feverish. He hoped it was illness and not some form of poison she had taken in an attempt to end her life, moving her from the doorway to the makeshift bedroll he had set up for himself. Setting her on the sleeping bag, he brushed her hair away from her forehead, unsure of what to do.

As she felt the man lift her, the blankets under her, the fingers on her forehead, she felt her eyes flutter open. She was dazed, clearly not completely there as she looked up at the hitman with a weak smile. She lifted her hand, unaware that it was trembling as she grasped his hand gently, absently. "It's...just a cold, I'm sure..." He seemed...worried. It was strange to think that this man could worry about anything. As she shifted, acting as if she'd tried to sit up, she felt the dizziness sweep over her again and she fell back once more, eyes closed tightly as she gave a soft, pained sound. After a moment, she coughed, her lungs seeming to rasp or rattle, sounding like they were filled with some kind of fluid. Pneumonia was actually what it seemed more like... And her head was pounding from where it had struck the ground when she fell before.

"That doesn't sound like a cold." He frowned, placing a hand on her collarbone to encourage her to lay back. "Stay still." He ordered softly, thinking his options over. If she died, the information she held died with her. And he wasn't comfortable with the thought of watching her slowly succumb to an illness like this. And a hospital was definitely out of the question. "I'm going to call someone to help." He said at last, pulling his phone from his pocket. He had a few doctors that worked under the table for the thugs and gangsters his father employed, and one in particular that he trusted enough to patch up the things he couldn't deal with himself.

Wheezing softly, she shook her head, trying once agai(n to insist that she was alright, but shw started coughing instead. As she felt his hand on her collarbone, she was shocked to find that for the first time she didn't flinch away... That she trusted him. Brow furrowing as he mentioned calling for help, she wanted to ask him.why he'd even try to save her just to turn around ans kill her... But once again she started coughing, body trembling in the cold.

(So...maybe when doc gts there, she can pass oit again and he can tell KK that she yas to have some scans and some good meds he cam only get at a hospital so KK has to make a choice? XD)

Pulling a blanket over her with a sigh, he hit one of the few numbers saved in the phone, stating their location and asking that he come immediately. Aware that he had never dealt with anything like this before, he watched her with a deepening frown before speaking at last. "What...what do you need?"

((KK has no idea what he's feeling. XD But yeah, that works. He'll have to decide to save her life and be all conflicted because it has nothing to do with the file. XD))

(AAAAND He'll have to trust er enough to take her to a hospital...and then maybe stay in her room with her, not because he's afraid she'll run off but because he's afraid she might not get better? XD And ten he can realize that he doesn't want to kill her...and then she can ask for his name and he can tell her...and she can tell him where the file is because it's about him. xD)

Se shook her head, unable to speak for amoment as she coughed again. Sweat beading across her forehead, hair clinging to her skin, she shifted a little in the sleeping bag, shifting closer to her would-be killer. She managed to open her eyes again, looking up at him. "W-water?" As she watched him, she gave a weak smile. "You seem pale...Killer Kim. Are you..worried about me?"

((I like this plan, this is a good plan. XD He's feeling things and doesn't want it, and then he can start oto have his world fall apart because he's been living a lie.))

"Water." He repeated, standing and moving to the supplies he'd gathered during her last escape. Returning with a bottle of water, he guided her to sit up, shaking his head at her question. "I don't worry. Ever."

(And then he realizes that she's actually concerned about him..and he's never had anyone concerned about him. XD)

As he helped her to sit up, she leaned into his touch. Her eyes moved to his as she put the bottle to her lips wit shaking hands. When se was finished drinking, she grinned weakly. "Are you sure? You seem concerned. Uncomfortable. You..could have juust left me on the ground over there..."

"I can't let you die." He shook his head, knowing that his reasoning ran deeper than the information he was sent to retrieve. But that couldn't be the case, could it? He felt nothing. He was no one. A perfect assassin, a perfect being, devoid of the distraction and suffering that emotion would put into his life.

"I'm not going to die from a cold." She laughed weakly, the sound dissolving into a cough as she looked up at him. As she looked up at him, she gave a weak smile. "...You try so hard to act like you feel nothing...but you're not te same as you were when we first met, Killer Kim."

"Colds don't leave fluid in your chest." He insisted, wishing that the doctor would arrive quickly. It was handy to be so far from civilization...until civilization was exactly what he needed. "I'm not the same? Why do you say that?" Her words startled him, tilting his head as he watched her.

She still smiled, fingers gripping the blanket weakly as she shivered in te cold. "Your eyes. They're not so empty anymore. I can tell...wen you're feeling something, when you're...concerned or worried or angry...I can see something now. It's slight and you're good at hiding it...but it's there. Even right now."

"You see this change often? Maybe you've been feverish for longer than you knew." He shook his head, setting the water bottle aside and guiding her to lay back once again.

"It's not often..but it still happens." She coughed softly, shivering once again, hand gripping his as he lay her back. She looked up at him. "See? You're even looking after me....when before you would have called the doctor and left me to figure it out myself...you're helping me now."

"I don't like sitting idly. If there's something to do, I would rather get it done." He replied simply, though the answer felt a little less true than it should. What was getting into him? Maybe he had spent too much time around her...

"You're a bad liar. Which is weird. Normally you're so good at it." She laughed weakly, the sound rattling as well. She winced as her ribs ached and she looked up at him again. After a moment, her face paled again and she shivered a little harder. "...I...think there's something a little worse..than a cold that's wrong with me, Killer Kim."

"I told you that much." He insisted, frown deepening as he readjusted the blanket. "It doesn't sound good..." A few sharp knocks on the metal door of the warehouse snapped him out of his thoughts, bidding her to stay still as he stood, leading the doctor inside. The aging man looked the woman over, taking her temperature and listening to her breathing at Jaerim's insistence. At length, he gave his prognosis--pneumonia. And it was likely the woman wouldn't survive without stronger medicine and a few scans, just to be sure things hadn't progressed beyond medical help. Both could only be found at a hospital, where the authorities could be called at the push of a button, providing protection and ruining every last part of the plan that Jaerim had been ordered to complete. But letting her die simply wasn't an option he wanted to take. After a moment's debate, he thanked the man, slipping him a few bills before moving to scoop the woman into his arms, heading toward the door.

She hadn't heard the discussion, had no clue what was wrong with her....but as the darker man returned to her side and scooped her into his arms, she leaned against him, head on his shoulder. Her hand rested gently on his chest as she found it difficult to keep her eyes open. After a moment, she took a shaky breath, the sound still just as awful as before. "...where...are we going?" They were heading toward the door. Where would he take her?
