"I hate to say it, but you're not a good liar." He offered with a nervous smile of his own, feeling guilty for disturbing her so much. "Have you eaten yet? I could make you something." He offered at last. "I'm...a little picky when it comes to food; I don't usually eat out."

"You could...make...you cook your own food?" He didn't have a chef for that? He was rich enough, wasn't he? She looked up at him, seeming to forget her nerves and her uncertainty, instead showing more surprise than anything, curiosity. "You want to cook for me?"

"Like I said, I'm...picky." He nodded with a smile, giving a slightly nervous chuckle. At the last, he nodded, brightening a little. "If you'd let me. I tried to learn everything I could while I was growing up...I think I'm pretty okay."

Nodding after a moment, she gave him a small smile. "Alright, sure. Let's get something to eat. I mean..let's make something." Smiling again, she looked up at him. "And we can work on the food and talk wardrobe at the same time. Sound good?"

"Sounds great to me." He nodded, opening the passenger side door for her with a bright smile. "It'll be great to have some company...that house is getting a little too big for me lately."

"It looked huge." She nodded, smiling weakly before loking up at him with a small smile. He was so kind...how could someone like him be so kind? In her experience, if they had money, they weren't good people, the kindness wasn't real.

"It is. There's half a floor that I don't even use now; rooms I haven't opened since we moved in. It's almost too much for one person." Moving to slide into the driver's seat, he waited until she was settled before starting down the road toward the house.

"I can't even imagine walking into a place like that. Is it as pretty as it looks on the outside?" She laughed weakly, shaking her head as she looked up at him. As they began to drive, she gave a soft hum, smiling. After a moment, she looked at him again. "How is your leg feeling, Mr. Borrison?"

"I'd like to think so. I worked hard to make it feel like a home instead of a museum." He laughed softly, glancing over to her at the question. "Much better today, thanks to you. How about you?"

"This is the first time I've ever had a man invite me to his house." At least, someone that was decent like a man. With a weak laugh, she shook her head, wincing at the pain it brought. The bruise under here eye was darkening and her headache was still bad... "Im doing better. All thanks to you, too... " But she still had the debt... And only two more days to pay it. It was incredibly likely she'd be dead before they saw each other again...

"Good. I know things like that take a while to heal from...if the pain starts bothering you, tell me, all right?" He asked, turning onto the highway and picking up speed. Cars were his guilty pleasure, he knew, the power and speed too fun to resist.

"things like what?" She looked up at him before wincing as the sun flashed through the window. "It's mostly just a headache now..."

"All of the bruising, the fractures...I've gotten hurt a few times in my life." he pointed out with a small smile. "Especially when I was young. Right after my injury...I didn't do much to make it better. I kept straining my wounds, trying to run away..."

Hearing th elast, she looked up at him, confusion and obvious concern in her eyes. "...trying...to run away?" Had he been abused as a child? Was that what happened to his leg?

"Run away from my aunt's house." He explained quickly, shaking his head. "I was...it took a long time for me to realize that my mother wasn't around anymore. I kept trying to find her, I thought that my aunt was lying to me."

"And was she? Lying to you, I mean." She frowned, watching him pick up speed before glancing out the window. His home wasn't far from them now...she recognized the streets.

"I...don't know, to be honest." he gave a faint smile, running his teeth over his lip absently. "I've been trying to figure out what happened...there's so much that was just swept under the rug. It's honestly one of the reasons I've worked to be this successful...so I have the money to look into everything now."

'You're going to hire an investigator or something?" She frowned, watching several more streets rush past them before she gave a soft hum. "What do you have in mind for lunch?"

"I already have." He nodded, reminding hiself to stay in the moment. He couldn't afford to lose himself to his emotions. At the last, he named a few simple ideas, most of them inspired by the cuisine he'd gotten used to in France.

He had hired an investigator...and he was paying her for her services...and he was cooking for her, looking after her in a way... She couldn't help but wonder what exactly it was that he did, how he got all this money. listening to his suggestions, she smiled, hearing her stomach growl. "It all sounds so delicious.
