"If you stayed...if...If I was with you...if I didn't turn you in. Would you kill, then?" If she could save a life...if she had to be with him to save a life...any life, she could do it. Couldn't she...?

"I...can't say. Not out of boredom, I don't think." He shook his head once again. "Maybe someone like your ex...someone that hurts people. Someone beyond redemption."

"So...there's nothing...no way to guarantee you won't kill again?" She shivered, remembering once again the feel of his hands on her, the feel of his touch, his kiss...then the feel of him pinning her to the ground. The pain, the fear, the death she could feel...She shuddered again, taking a smal step back from him. "...I have to tell them, Jongup. I...I have to."

"I....I understand." He knew she would have, but that didn't make it hurt less. "I'm sorry. Like I said...you'll never see me again. I can't stand the thought of hurting you again...and I can't stand getting caught. You probably already know that I won't go alive. If I'm caught, I'll make sure they kill me." Life caged would be worse than death, he knew. Taking another step back at the sight of her own, he added, "In another time...if I were different, if this were different...I hope we could have been friends." It was the best he could say after all he had done to ruin what he never wanted to gain.

"We couldn't have." She shook her head, eyes moving to the ground. 'In any other time, in any other place you'd still be a murderer." She looked up at him, unable to hide the fear she still felt. "And...I can't think of anything worse than that."

The words hurt him more than he expected, flinching a little as if she'd hit him after all. For a moment, he wished that she had. "...I guess you're right." He breathed, shaking his head before offering her a weak smile. "I hope you live well, Inna." It was the only thing he felt he could say, the only thing that wouldn't sink the knife in his chest any deeper. He was a monster, he told himself firmly. Monsters didn't have hearts to be broken. Turning at last, he hunched a little against the cold, starting out of the park. He had a lot of work to do before the police responded to her turning him in...

She bit her lip, watching him walk away. For a moment she wanted to call him back, to beg him not to go, to beg him to be the better man, the man he'd pretended to be. For amoment, she wanted to run into his arms, to make him promise he wouldn't kill, to stay with her... Her heart was breaking, her heart was shredding into tiny pieces..and there was absolutely nothig she could do about it. As she took a shaky breath, she wrapped her arms around herself again. She had no where to go..she was alone, homeless...and she had no one.

((Gotcha covered. XD))

Jongup had tried to leave her alone. Really, he did. But he had known that she wouldn't return to the apartment he had given her, or to the man that had made her miserable for so long. So he kept tabs on her, as much as he could. Not having any friends in the city meant that he was alone in his efforts, leaving small gifts here and there to make sure that she would be all right--a few hundred won to be found in the street, paying a stranger to deliver groceries to her door in the semblance of a mistake they didn't want to correct...odd things to make her life easier.

Inna had been going crazy. She was alone, she had no where to go, no one to go to, she'd been living in a rundown apartment with no heat, no light, and she barely had anything to her name. Every night she dreamed of him, Jongup. She woke every morning thinking maybe it was all a terrible dream, maybe he'd be next to her. She'd been doing well enough, as well as she could be, given the circumstances. At least now she had food in her house, thanks to a strangers mistake. But she was alone, she hadn't gone to the police. She couldn't turn him in. No matter how much she wished she could, betraying him like that...it would kill her. He'd spared her life... She could do the same. Because as much as she was afraid of him, she wanted to be around him, with him... She wanted to love him.

He hadn't set foot in that park since the night he had attacked her, but as his thoughts turned to her more and more insistently, he found he couldn't stay away. The familiar paths were bittersweet in their peacefulness, deserted at such a late hour and dark enough that he could wander without being seen. He hoped that she was doing well, though her apartment looked horrible. Maybe he could figure out a way to sneak a space heater into her home without her getting too suspicious, he thought. Or he could have it delivered as he had the groceries. The winter was getting colder and he didn't want her to get sick... As he wandered, he pulled his hood up against the chill, hoping that his efforts were helping her life at least a little.

As she wandered through the same park, thoughts on the man, the beast, the murderer, she didn't see him through the darkness. Instead, as she walked, she pulled her own torn jacket closer around her body. It didn't do much against the cold and she was already housing a cold. She could feel her fever worsening but going home to the empty, dark apartment just felt...worse. So, instead, she continued to walk throgh the park, thinking back to better days until she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning to face the man that touched her, she found herself face to face with an officer. or...someone that used to be an officer, her ex's older brother. He'd been fired due to illegal activity by use of the badge and she hadn't seen him in months, not since she'd left his brother. "Jin, what are you doing here so late?"

Hearing the voice that had haunted him so much, Jongup froze, moving off of the path and approaching silently as he saw the pair under one of the lamps. He had seen the man causing trouble over the last few weeks. Bristling as he saw the man lay hands on the woman he had no claim over, he slipped a knife out of his boot, keeping low to the shrubs growing along the path in case things went wrong. Something wasn't right here...

The man gave a small sneer. "You leave my brother like that and you have the guts to say my name?"

"Get your hand off of me." She tensed, realizing he was angry. Very angry. Jin had always had a crush on her, she remembered. He'd always made it very well known that he had an interest, telling her how much better he'd be for her...though he was worse than his brother, he was violent..he was insane.

"Come on. You left my brother. You and I both know why." He pushed her back, forcing her against a tree as he moved his lips to her jaw, then her neck, fingers gripping her shoulder painfully tightly. She was dizzy enough with the fever, weak enough she couldn't fight back easily, and he was bruising her, nails starting to cut into her skin. She gave a soft, pained sound as she tried to fight him off but he wouldn't budge.

Fury wasn't a word strong enough for what Jongup felt. Seeing the attack brought a snarl to his lips, moving from the bushes at a run and sinking the blade into the man's shoulder, twisting it hard. When he released the woman, he was thrown to the ground, the slighter man climbing on top of him to press the knife to his throat. "You scum." He growled, pressing the blade hard enough to break the skin. "How dare you, especially after what I've done to your brother. I should have killed him...but I can start with you." He waited until he heard begging, sobbing, pleading for his life before he slit the man's throat deeply enough to nearly sever his head. Breathing heavily, he stood, slipping the knife back into his boot with hands covered in blood, knowing that she would hate him all the more for choosing to kill with her there. "Inna..." He breathed, turning to her as fury gave way to concern. "Are you...all right?"

As Jongup burst from the bushes, as he threw the man down and spoke, voice harsh, cold. As he pulled the knife to the man's throat and proceeded to nearly cut it from his shoulders, she backed up, back once again hitting the tree. Her eyes were wide, full of fear, confusion. She was shaking again and she couldn't breathe, her head was spinning. As he stood, she leaned back against the tree hard. He was covered in blood, it dripped to the ground beside him...and he clearly felt no remorse at all for what he'd done. He'd...saved her. He'd killed a man, with no second thoughts, but he'd saved her... But there he was...the man that had haunted her, plagued her...he was just feet away. AS she heard him ask if she was alright, she struggled to find words, unable to speak as she shook in the cold air, fever still worsening every moment. "You...y-you...j..."

"He gave me no choice. He was hurting you." He defended, taking a step forward, hand raised to help her before he saw the blood on his fingers. Freezing, his hand curled into a fist instead before he shoved them into his pockets, shrinking a little before her gaze. She was still afraid. A murderer that killed for a good reason would still be a monster in her eyes. "Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital? You're freezing; your cold will never get better if you don't get somewhere warm."

Her eyes didn't even move to the lifeless body on the ground. Instead, she stared at the man. She didn't seem afraid, just confused, just sick. Ignoring his defense, ignoring his concern and his questions, she spoke, voice soft. "...You...I thought..you were g-gone.." She didn't care that he'd killed. She didnt' care at all that he'd even done it in frnot of her...she cared that he was standing there, that he was alive, that he hadn't really left her alone. Was he the presence she'd been feeling so often...? The reasons he never felt so totally alone...?

"I know. I promised I'd leave for good, but...I couldn't stay away. Not until I knew you were all right." He admitted weakly, shaking his head. "That apartment is a dump, why don't you move back into the studio? I've been oaying the utilities; the heat and water all work." Not that he had a right to worry. He was sure it was her shock, her illness that kept her standing in front of him. Soon she would come to her senses and run, or call the police...and he would have to run again.

"...why..?" Why couldn't he stay away? Why was he here after all the things hs'ed said...? Why was he still helpping her? "I...I can't." She couldn't live in that place, knowing who he was, what had happened...she couldn't live there when he wanted nothing to do with her, when she shouldn't want anything to do with him... Her knees were shaking, the dizziness still swept over her and she felt herself lean against the tree, sinking to the ground as she leaned her head back. She was sweating.
