Common Grounds
NoWealthNoRuin HC's Territory
A locally-run coffee shop frequented by the group's younger members. Seems to do well despite not having much foot traffic.

"Alright. If you're not too busy." She flushed softly, giving him a small smile before she looked at the manager one last time. She really hoped she wouldn't be fired for this. "Just..let me change into something comfortable and brush my hair. Iw on't do anything drastic, no makeup or anything. Feel honored you get to see me like this." That way it wouldn't really feel like a date. It wasn't a date. As she followed him out the door, she heard the last, stopping in her surprise with a soft flush. "You...think I"m pretty?"

"We have a deal." He loosened the tie he had worn before slipping it over his head, unbuttoning the first two buttons of his shirt with a sigh. At the last, he started toward the door, heat spreading over his face. "I, uh...yeah."

Surprised to hear him admit to it, and trying to ignore the way his collarbone dipped down, the way his shirt revealed a small part of his chest. He really was attractive. She moved her hand to the back of her neck, her own face heating as her hair fell in her eyes. "That's...certainly unexpected. I mean...It's not something I really hear."

"I'm surprised, with how attractive you are. You should hear it more often." He commented without thinking, leading her to a sleek black car sitting at the curb near the restaurant. It wasn't extravagant, but it was pretty nice. He was more than a little proud of it.

"Flattery will get you nowhere, ahjussi.." As they approached his car, she looked it over in open appreciation. Naming the year, model, style in a mumble, she smiled. "Very nice." She'd always been a car person, a skill she'd usually kept hidden. Guys typically didn't like when women knew more about cars than they did. "How attractive I am?" She looked up at him again, still clearly surprised. "You can't mean right now."

"You like cars." It was a statement rather than a question, smiling at the display. "I do mean right now. It's...attractive to me. Seeing someone in their element, working instead of trying to paint themselves as someone flawless, someone...fake." He frowned at his inability to find the words he needed, opening the passenger door for her without thinking.

"i love cars.." flushing at the last, she followed him, slipping inyo the car with a soft, selfconscious thanks b fore waiting for him to join her.

"I didn't expect that. I'm glad you approve of the car." His smile widened, moving to the driver's seat and feeling the car rumble to life. "Where am I taking you?"

"i dont talk about it much." She laughed softly, shaking her head. As he started the car, she looked up at him. "Home..ah...my home. Its not very far." Just a couple of miles. Giving him the address, she offered a sheepish smile. It was right around the corner from where they met.

"Close to the cafe." He smiled, pulling onto the street. "You actually don't live that far from me." Walking distance, maybe twenty minutes apart if he were at a leisurely pace.

Raising a brow at his words, she smiled. "I guess it really was fate for us to have met that day, then." It was a flirtation. She asn't flirting...but there had to have been a reason for them to have met..."Do you go to that cafe often?"

The comment almost seemed flirtatious, he noted, raising an eyebrow. Glancing over to her with a smile, he wondered what was on her mind. "I guess it was. I go there a lot when I want to think. It's pretty quiet, but more inviting than walking in the park in the middle of winter."

"I had never been to that one. The one that I usually go to was shut down last week." She smiled, looking out the window as the lights outside passed by. "I love walking in the park in the middle of winter. It's so...I don't know, calming. there's usually no one there but couples. And they're so wrapped up in themselves taht they don't notice me."

"I get cold too easily. I'd have to stop for a coffee before walking anywhere if I tried." He chuckled softly, turning from the highway onto a side street. "It looks calming, though...but I'm more comfortable sitting at my table, watching the world go by."

"So get a cup and walk with it. It would keep your hands warm and you'd still enjoy the calm." She siled, watching them turn and glancing up at him. "Do you often take strangers from the coffee shop out to get something to eat?"

"You're the first." he admitted with a soft chuckle. "I'm not usually a people person. They tend to get annoyed around me pretty quickly."

"They get annoyed with you? Why would they get annoyed?" She laughed softly. He didn't seem the annoying type. Stubborn, arrogant, and set in his ways, but not annoying.

"I have a bad habit of saying what's on my mind. Without a filter. Or tact." His laugh was almost nervous, brushing a strand of hair out of his eyes. It wasn't often he decided to style it...

"I haven't seen that." She looked up at him, smiling slightly. As he brushed his hair back, she felt her cheeks heat slightly. He really was beautiful. "You without tact? You've always been so kind to me."

"We're on our second conversation. Give it time, I'll screw everything up eventually." He chuckled, shaking his head. Feeling her gaze on him, he wondered what was on her mind. "Then again, we did have a debate on murderers the last time we talked..."
