The Rabbit Hole
NoWealthNoRuin HC's Territory
A nightclub skirting the neighborhood between the rougher side of town and the classier neighborhoods. The main bar and dance floor is located in the front, with a quieter private lounge in the back where the finer points of Himchan's job are delegated to the other members of the group. Any revenue built by the club is honestly made, though it does house one of the most powerful mob families in the city.

Byungjoo had turned down two drinks offered to him by a man sitting further down the bar, and he wasn't sure what would happen if he refused a third. He brushed messy blond hair out of his eyes as he pushed the unknown colorful liquid back toward the bartender, wishing that either his clients would make themselves known or the other half of his act would show up. He had only been performing as a private dancer for less than a month--talked off of a seedy stage and into a more lucrative type of stripping by his closest and oldest friend. The same closest and oldest friend that hadn't answered any texts in the hour that the younger man had been waiting. Wincing as he saw the man he had tried to politely reject stand and slur out a greeting, he wondered if he could telepathically connect with the bartender to save him from this situation.

Hansol had been kicking himself. For years he'd been madly in love with his best friend, another man which made it even worse...and he could never come clean. He'd pretended for far too long that he was intersted in women, any woman...he constantly found himself in stranger's beds. IN fact..the night before had been far more wild than he'd anticipated...and he found himself far later than he'd planned. Stumbling into the bar, still a little drunk from the night before, he managed to step between his best friend and love of his life and the man tat was advancing on him, tapping on the bar to order a drink for him and Byungjoo. "Hyung...have you been waiting long?"

"Only an hour. Did your phone die?" The relief was evident in his voice despite his attempt to show his previous exasperation, ducking a little in his seat as he hoped the stranger would take a hint and go away. Taking in his best friend's appearance, he frowned, taking a drink from the glass of water he had ordered. "Have you been drinking already?" Likely he spent the night in the bed of a woman he couldn't name. More and more often he didn't see Hansol when he went home at the end of the evening.

"I left it here last night. I was a litle too excited to pay attention to grabbing it. I'm sorry." He laughed softly, putting more emphasis on the fact that he was with a woman again before taking the drink from the bartender with a grin and sliding it to his companion. "I haven't been drinking since last night...but I had so much --" it was the only way he could be with a woman, after all, " that I'm still a little drunk. Don't judge me too much." He laughed softly, taking the second drink and lifting it to his lips before he felt the man behind him. Raising a brow, realizing that Byungjoo had likely been dealing with the creep for an hour..at least, he hummed softly. Now was as good a time as any...Wrapping his arms around the man at his side, chin resting on his shoulder, he leaned closer as if to kiss his cheek before glancing at the man from beneath his hair. WIth a triumphant smirk, he raised a brow. "You might want to back off. I've got a claim on him already..." He smiled, fingers moving over his friends thigh lovingly, seductivly, wondering if the man would get the hint. Skinship was normal between them..and Hansol did his best not to let it mean too much to him...because he knew it meant nothing to B-Joo.

Relaxing against the familiar closeness of Hansol's act, he felt a relieved smile pull at his lips. This was normal for him, as close as they had been since they were children. Even in private the younger man was very physical, showing his affection in touches and hugs no matter where they were. And often it was a blessed deterrent for unwanted advances, male and female. Fighting the way those wandering fingers made goosebumps raise on his exposed arms, he gave the creep a humorless smile as he Tangled the fingers of his free hand with his friend's. "I tried to let him down easy, babe...I don't think he got the hint." He added, slipping into the act with ease.

With a grin, feeling the fingers close arond his own and fighting the way his heart raced, he moved his lips to the man's ear, letting them graze his skin lightly as he looked at the creep with a smirk. "We could always give him a stronger hint." This was usually as far as their acts went... simple touches, the brushing of skin...he was careful not to go too far, careful not to do something he wouldn't be able to come back from... AS his other hand moved over he man's hip, pressing his chest against Byungjoo's back, he flashed a wink to the much older gentleman at the bar, watching the man turn and stumble away with a grumble. SMiling, he waited until the man was well out of hearing range before releasing his friend and taking the stool next to him. "Seems like this is your night to get hit on. You didn't go home with that girl last night?" he'd watche d the younger man flirt with the woman at the bar the night before...he'd thought for sure he'd be watching B-joo leave with her...so he left early...with a woman on each arm and a lot of alchol. God, he hated women...

"Check your phone when you find it. She was too drunk to go home on her own, so I talked with her until her ride got here." Relaxing as the man went away, Byungjoo took another drink from his glass. "There were a few shady guys that were bothering her...I was worried that they might try something." And he wasn't much good in a fight. If Hansol had been around he might have challenged them, but the older man had already gone off to fondle whatever woman he had chosen for the night. Feeling his worry return at the thought, he hummed softly, fingers moving over his glass. "Why don't you take it easy tonight, hyung? You've been drinking a lot lately...we could go back and order takeout tonight, watch a movie?" He couldn't hide his concern over the fact that all his friend seemed to do anymore after their long nights was find the nearest bed and the nearest girl to fall into.

"Bartender should have it." He waved to the man with a smile, the look almost flirty. When he glanced back to his friend, he smiled a bit wider. "So instead of taking advantage of the fact that she was drunk, you just took her home and let her sleep?" He frowned, raising a brow. "Where's the fun in that?" As he watched Byungjoo toy with his glass, he frowned further, noticing the way the man seemed worried, tense. He wished he could help...but there was only one way he knew how to do it... and that was a way Bjoo would never allow. "Take it easy? I don't know the meaning of those words." He forced a soft laugh, knowing he'd perfect ed the sound over the years...his friendwould have no clue it was an act. "I'm one girl away from a perfect week, new girl each night. You don't want me to make that goal?" He grinned, looking back at his friend and seeing the worry on his face. The smile fell and he bit his lip for a moment before humming softly. "...You...seem worried."

"She was too far gone to agree to anything without regretting it in the morning. I didn't want her only memory of me to be something that cruel." He shook his head with a soft chuckle. "You're still half-drunk. You've been tearing yourself apart, practicing during the day, working and partying all night...how long has it been since we had any time to relax and hang out together?" He had been holding his thoughts back all week, trying to be supportive of his friend and his increasingly destructive habits. Hansol was all or nothing in the most worrying way, and it had been too long since they had been able to just exist without any obligations holding them back. "I am a little worried, Hansol. You said switching jobs like this was supposed to make our lives easier, but..." How could he say that he missed the way things were without sounding ungrateful? When Bjoo was just a simple stripper, making use of years of dance training and practice, they spent their days together dreaming of when their lives would improve, enjoying every simple pleasure they could find the time and money for.

"You're a good man. Better than I am. I'm not sure I could have said no in that situation." He grinned, flashing the bartender a wink absently as the man slid his phone across the bar to him. He caught it with ease, flipping it open and seeing multiple messages from his friend. He'd really worried him this time...His heart jumped at the thought, ashamed to say he was excited by the information. Byungjoo worried for him. Not in any romantic way, he knew...but still. He worried... Hearing the last, the way he talked about destroying himself, the way he talked about the jobs, he looked at the man. With a small frown, he reached out before he could stop himself, tucking the man's hair back from his face before humming softly, eyes meeting his friends. "...Do you want to blow off our jobs tonight? Just go home, stay in...? Do you want to just get something to eat and go watch some cheesy dramas?"

Smiling at the contact, knowing that meant he had gotten through to his friend, his expression shifted to surprise at the last. "You...are you serious? I mean, you were bragging about this guy all last night, saying he was the richest client yet." Though the thought of just going home, spending time in their apartment with good food and a new show sounded much better than any payday they could have at this point. He just wanted to know that Hansol was taking care of himself, that he was able to smile and laugh without a bottle or a girl to force his hand.

Seeing Byungjoo's smile made his heart jump and twist all at once. He bit his lip, knowing the conflict his friend would see and the conflict he felt were two very different things. B-joo would see the conflict of a man choosing between relaxing with his best friend and a significant payday. Hansol's conflct was curling up on a couch with the man he loved more than life itself but could never have and suffering through that hole in his chest...or downing another bottle in an attempt to forget his troubles and get through one tear-less night. Something he hadn't managed in years. But seein ght hope, the surprise in his friend's eyes, he nodded his head. He'd do anything for this man. No matter how much it killed him. "Of course I'm serious. If you say stop, we stop. You know that. If you want to call it a night we can leave right now. I'll pick up some rice and some other things and we can go back to the apartment and just...relax like we used to. It's been a while, hasn't it? You deserve a break. And I know how much you hate beling alone. That client will be back, believe me. We don't need the money right now... so lets just go home."

"You're the one that deserves a break. You need to take care of yourself, too..." He reminded the older man, smile shifting to a bright grin as he pulled him into a hug. "Thank you, hyung. It'll be my treat tonight, okay? I know you were looking forward to that payday." He knew that the comment about being alone was far from an exaggeration. When they were both working at the club, it wasn't unusual for him to go home and sleep while Hansol stayed up and spent the night drinking and partying...but now that they were able to choose their own schedules, he spent hours at the time at the apartment alone, texting his friend in hopes that he would look at his phone during his date. It was stupid to be jealous of the hoards of unknown women in Seoul's underbelly for taking up all of Hansol's time, but he couldn't help but be more than grateful that they were able to have a night to themselves.

Shaking his head as the man mentioned it being his treat, he smiled. "No. I'll pay." His heart wasn't racing because of the hug. It couldn't be... "It's my job to take care of you, remmeber? I made that promise years ago." He grinned, ruffling the younger man's hair affectionately. "Come on." He nodded toward the bartender to put the drinks on his tab before sliding off of his stool andputting his arm around the man. "Lets go get some snacks." With a soft laugh, he pulled the man toward the door. HIs heart was burning, it was freezing. It was happy and sad all at once and he hated this feeling of falling like he'd never stop. He was falling apart...but at least on the outside no one knew. "I hve been wanting a night in, honestly. I just didn't want to get in your way and ask." He laughed softly, the sound almost broken.

"Then go half with me. I'm the one that asked you to do this." He insisted, leaning against him as they walked as a light smile graced his lips. Hearing the sound and knowing that it wasn't as confident as it should have been, he wound his arm around Hansol's back, giving him a gentle squeeze. "You know you won't ever be in my way. Are you all right, it seems like...lately you've been trying to avoid something. You're not giving yourself any free time anymore, you never relax."

"I need some down time. You asked me to do something I wanted to do." He shook his head, waving at the man that paid for their services for the night, calling out that he'd see the guy later before stepping out into the street. With a small, weak smile, he nodded. "I'm alright. I don't know what you're talking abou. I"ve always been like this. I just have more time to pursue now. I mean, you know how I want to settle down someday...just looking for the right person." He knew the right person. The person he could never have... His heart twisted again.

Humming as they stepped out into the cool breeze of the night, he felt a smile pull at his lips. He loved the feeling of having no obligations, nowhere to run and no one to please. Just Byungjoo and Hansol, the way it should be. "Settle down...well, whoever she is, she'll be pretty lucky with all of the practice you've been getting lately. I'm surprised you haven't gotten burnt out..." He added, ruffling his friend's hair.

Seeing the smile on the younger man's lips, he gave a small smile of his own. He really was beautiful... with a soft sigh, he leaned into the man, thinking his words over. 'She'. But Hansol had never been attracted to women. Even as a child..his future wedding had always been to his favorite actor in his mind... "I suppose she will be..." his voice was soft, his mind far from the topic of women. After a moment, bearing the comment about getting burnt out, he thought back to the multiple women he'd gone home with over thr last few months...all to distract him frm the pain, frm the misery he felt...he was definitely burnt out "It's been fun.."

"I don't have that kind of energy anymore. Between working nights and practicing new routines during the day, I can hardly think." But he was a perfectionist at heart. His passion for dance had translated well into his work--and had made them a commodity in the minds of those who wanted to hire private dancers for their parties. But he was always working to improve, to make sure that they would always be sought after and that their clients would have better and better experiences to speak of.

"Anymore? You're 23! You're still plenty young enough to have this kind of energy!" He laughed softly, hugging the man to his side a little tighter. Why was he trying to encourage the love of his life to go find a woman...? He inwardly cursed. After a moment, he looked back at his friend, realizing he was swaying a little and flushing softly. "I'm still a little drunk...aren't I?"
