"I just don't think the world is worth putting music into right now. I no longer want to make art that other people — particularly record companies — are turning into a product. I just want to make art."
Marilyn Manson, Rolling Stone, 2005
"When all of your wishes are granted,
many of your dreams will be destroyed."
Yeah for sure I love how he is slowly exposing information on the new album. It gets people pissed off and excited at the same time. So far it's been a great year for Manson!
"You've been deep in rehearsals with Marilyn Manson. How did you land that gig?
I had befriended the head of production for Marilyn Manson on the Foreigner/ Styx/ Kansas tour of 2010. She was head of production on that tour and we hit it off. She knew the New York Dolls tour was winding down and gave me a call right before the New Year. Chris Vrenna decided he wasn’t going to do the gig and a few drummers came and went so she suggested they check me out.
They had another drummer they’d seen and liked and he was coming back for a call back on a Friday and they slid me in at the last minute on the Thursday before. I only found out that day that I had an audition. I had already started learning songs just in case but I still only had a few hours to learn three more songs and get my drums to the audition when I found out. It was one of the more hectic ones I’ve experienced!
I played through the five tunes and after the first one Manson was up and standing right over my drums digging it. We jammed for a bit and Manson invited me over to his house to hear the new record that night. We had a great hang and he said he loved how I played but they still had to hear the guy on Friday just to be fair.
Needless to say I got the call Friday night that I got the gig and had a great chat with Manson himself who said how stoked he was. We have been in rehearsals for the last three weeks and it’s a riot! The tour is starting in Australia, Japan and Taiwan in support of the new record "Born Villain".
Manson is an entire band not just one person. Also Manson is not given interviews. Manson is only frustrating because he isn't revealing the information of his new album in which makes their fans think they are selfish. When in reality we are slowly exposed with new news within every new interview.
I think personally it is selfish that the fans attack Marilyn Manson because of it. They are human beings made of flesh and bone and have lives to live too. You need to respect that.
Dean Karr is working on the new Marilyn Manson album cover tonight! Dean Karr is the director and photographer for various artists including Amy Lee and her band Evanescence. Marilyn Manson and Dean Karr worked together on the imagery and video of the Sweet Dreams (are made of this) promotional single.
that's not why I find him (or the band) frustrating. I long for an album with the songwriting at least up to par with Holywood. Golden Age and Eat Me, Drink Me are pretty solid releases I suppose but just that... and from the sounds of things.. that one song and sample off the new upcoming album... it doesn't sound too promising.
a few other things bug me as well..
but overall it'd be awesome if the overall product really does sound like how Twiggy mentioned it.. "a little more of a punk rock Mechanical Animals".
I meant the quality of songwriting, not the sound necessarily!
as far as 'em delivering on what they say of their albums... eh. I don't really thinkso.. to an extent yeah but it's usually pretty exaggerated... and then you get bogus claims such as Holywood being considered their "industrial White Album... in the sense that it's very experimental". I didn't find the album all that experimental...
How can there be leaks when the only tracks we know of are Slo-Mo-Tion and Overneath the Path of Misery? We don't even have a tracklisting or anything. Cooking Vinyl already stated that the album will not be released in February.
I already know Manson will be playing a few new tracks live. This was confirmed by the man himself. Which means we will get live songs for now. Which is better than nothing in my opinion. I cannot wait to hear live premiere music from Marilyn Manson.
Especially if it's anything like he did it for Irresponsible or "Smells Like Children" (Kinderfeld)

Marilyn Manson announced the single of the album. Also that it is coming very soon. No Reflection will feature a bonus track that he worked on with a friend who is a guitarist. Which could potentially be Naveen Andrews from Lost.
