What are peoples' views on fractal work? I know alot of people that believe it's still a form of art but I also know alot of people that think it's not much of an art form because practically anyone can make them now.
Even though a lot of people can make it, I still think it takes a certain amount of talent or an artistic eye to really create the pieces that are eye catching and genuinely interesting.
The fractal in nature artwork tends to be more striking to me because it is naturally occurring but yet so linear but the colors in the digital artwork, if done correctly, can be really captivating as well.
examples of both I like:
*note the natural ones are photographs yes, but i think they are great pictures that capture fractals and it would be neat is someone took those natural items and did something with them.

Anyone can do fractals but it takes true grit to make good images from them. Anyone can take a photo. The below image is by Schmiegel at deviantART http://schmiegel.deviantart.com/ and released under Creative Commons NC Share alike. Yes fractal images 2D or 3D are art.
It's certainly easy to make them, but I've made a few myself and there's a difference between just fiddling around and producing something with artistic intent! I found a video somewhere of fractal work and it was mesmerising but I've forgotten who did it
Exactly! Bad or lazy art will always be bad and lazy. It is easy create something that might get a pat on the head from mum, but to make something truly impressive takes a lot getting of sweat and hours of "just getting it just right" tweaks.
