something i'm fond of.

what i mean is DESOLATE, BLEAK sounding instrumental stuff.

fave examples being (some) gridlock, (some) converter, (a lot of) imminent starvation and (a lot of) lament configuration.
plus some random stuff here and there.

but i needs more.

ideas?

Rise of Because. Found it on ebay years ago for $1, bought it on a whim, absolutely love it. I think they broke up tho, haven't been able to find any other CDs... last.fm has a couple of their songs tho.

hahaha I know right?! so unfortunate!!! hmmm you know... you might like ESA, ISZOLOSCOPE, PNEUMATIC DETACH, and Synapscape, but if you want something more cold ambient and a little more dramatic you might want to check these out: "Cathedron" by Sephiroth, "Great Desired Utopia" by Sect, and "In Nomine Dei Nostri Satanas Luciferi Excelsi" and "Malfeitor" by Maschinenzimmer 412,

lessee........

don't care for ESA, LOVE Iszoloscope!!! (namely The Audient Void), like Pneumatic Detach (but has he/they released anything since ko.mor.bid?) and Synapscape's hit & miss...

don't care for dark ambient, as i prefer my ambient to be harmonic and delicate, not try to be dark and spooky. ;-)

good recs tho. if you think of any more, i'm all ears.
thx

Noisegate and Yellow Swans if you like drone stuff, I've been big into them. Noisegate is hard to find on Youtube, but look for their album The Towers Are Burning. I got it in a bargain bin at a record store, not fully knowing what it was, just liking the cover, but it's fantastic.

Not typical "rhythmic noise" per say, but you might dig S: cage. His body of work is brilliant.

I'm not familiar with anything here besides Yellow Swans but I don't think drone is really relevant here (I think alot of drone has a warm tone really)

Vatican Shadow might be something of interest here though. Military themed rhythmic noise from Dominic Fenrow (Prurient, Vegas Martyrs, cold Cave, and way too much other stuff. Another project of his that falls into this territory is Christian Cosmos

Look up the first song on The Towers are Burning by Noisegate (I can't remember the name offhand) then tell me what's "warm". :P I could have mislabeled them as drone, but I'm also new to the genre, so I'm open to being corrected.

There are some drone outfits that have a colder sound, don't get me wrong. I just don't think as a whole the genre cold be described as such. Sunn O))), Earth, Burning Star Core and others who are big names all are pretty warm (that's the joy of analog and tube amps for you)

Yeah, I get what you mean. Noisegate may fall more under power electronics, I'm new to both genres.
