I think about something I want because it looks good or I like it. I prepare by getting money and then I go get it done
Theres plenty of tattoos that I want and have meaning, but I'm holding off because I want to have them perfectly designed and want to make a good decision.
Its not really that big of a deal to me preparation wise. Just...yeah
I spend months and months thinking about my tattoo before I get one. Obviously its permanent, so I make sure it is exactly what I want. They are kind of spiritual for me. They all represent a part of my life, and after I get one I feel that that stage has passed and I feel refreshed, like a clean slate.
As far as what I do before I get anything done, I always eat something. While Im under the needle I like to drink a coke or something to keep that blood sugar up. Afterwards its time for some fast food
I'm allowing this bump 'cause I think this is a good topic and we need more discussion in here at the moment, but please remember to look at the date of a thread before posting in the future.
I feel the timing always needs to be right. Even though piercings aren't as permanent as tattoos, I feel that even they remind me of the time in my life when I got them. I tend to get them for some kind of event or milestone. My tattoos I always want to be in a good time in my life when I get them because even if the meaning of the tattoo itself should ever fade, it will still remind me of when I got it and I want that alone to be enough of a reason to get it done.
For example, I got my first tattoo during a really great time in my life. I was super happy and everything felt perfect. The tattoo however came out less than perfect and I want to get it fixed but I won't touch it until I'm just as happy as I was when I got it the first time. It needs to feel right or I won't do it.
