When a relatively new someone asks you what sort of music you like, particularly ones unfamiliar with anything not at the top of the YouTube charts, how do you respond?
I mumble:"you asked for it..." and start naming every genre and subgenre of music I like... and I keep this up for about 10 minutes.

When someone asks you what kind of music you listen to...
I tend to say something along the lines of "electronic music" or "anything" because it gets harder and harder everytime to contain my punches when somone says "oh like Nine Inch Nails?"
i say the big "I" lol then they say play sum , i do and they look at me strange and start yelling to my ear like i am deaf by now frum playing Industrial music all the time. sum like it instantly , sum want to know the whole history behind the sound and all its various forms at that moment lol sum is just to harsh for them so they run away

When someone asks you what kind of music you listen to...
I get excited and usually start yelling out band names and brief descriptions while providing an imaginary flow chart to connect the dots between them.
If I have a music player and headphones on me, it makes the job easier.
I usually just refer to it as 'Electronic/Industrial', people get more of an idea of what I listen to that way rather then just Industrial or Post-Industrial.
Or if I'll just say 'many different genre's' and if they still look interested I'll list of three, like, Industrial, Folk, Hip-Hop.
Sometimes I just say "some different music". Sometimes Industrial/electronica and if the look like a ? I try to explain easy with "fast and heavy synthmusic" If they ask for an example and I start telling bandnames they look like a ? again. Most people how doesnt't know me very well think I listen to ordinary dull music. What a terrible thought.
Fortunately people I know don't tend to ask me....uhhhh I don't know why, but I don't speak about music cause nobody I know listens to it. But if they do, I'd simply smile and avoid responding or just say "I don't think you know it".
I once told a friend who listens to rock and dubstep, that I listen mostly to Industrial and she was like :O oh my God no not that!
I don't understand why people don't know, or dislike Industrial, but let's not get sad
