I've been having issues with a file transfer to a 2TB External Harddrive (WD)
I'll try to throw these in bulks, I keep gettin errors about the files being too long - I shorten them, it works. However, there was two files I had that said this, then I manually did them one-by-one: they worked.
This is a weird issue, as it happens in different variations of ways it can happen.
Is there a way I could do this in bulks with editing some kind of setting, or does Microsoft have to slow me more down until I can enter the Unix community?
This is a Windows* OS/file system issue. If your folder destination path is too long(more than 255 characters in Windows),you can come across a long path error. You can fix it with additional softwares like Long Path Tool. http://PathTooDeep.com
I hope that it will help you!
Good luck!
Cheers!
This problem is no longer a considered because it has been solved. There is away to fix this problem and the name of that software is LONG PATH TOOL.I highly recommend it to you since I have already used it.
You don't have to rename the files or the folder names even if it reached the 255 max. You can use a third party app like long path tool when you encounter an error like this. It's very annoying to get these issues that's why before i save files i make sure to shorten it's file name first. I hope this would help.
