I took over 5 art classes in high school; it's my passion and I really want to save up and go to art school within the next year or too. So, I figured I'd post some of my work and maybe get your opinions if you don't mind; I just want to know if I'm good and ready to go to school for it. I have so many pieces that I've done, so I just have to chose a few.

My interpretation of 'Kneeling to Pray'
Portrait I did for an orphan in Haiti; I sent the actual copy to her.
Some of them are really good! I think you've done a good job with the fabric on the Dalai Lama.
The second portrait looks like you could do a bit more work on the shading and bring it up to a higher standard.
I'd say be very picky with what you show, choose ones that show off the skills you have and don't put work in progresses in with the main bunch Also having a range of media may help you but definitely play to your strengths.
It's worth a shot applying! They'll decide if you're ready, all you really need to think about is what you can get out of it and where you want to take your art skills.
your pictures are wonderful, my only critics are try to make your faces a bit narrower and that will help a lot, and make sure when you shade that you use less circle shapes, it helps to make the face look a bit nicer. I hope this helps, and keep trying to get into art school, from your work I know your an artist. Oh and one last thing, do you have a signature, like a certain thing you always do? For example mine is just plain white circles with black surrounding it for eyes. Things like that help the viewer to connect the paintings together. I don't think she really needs a signature just yet if she's only just starting art college. There's plenty of time for it to develop so you don't have to force anything. I mean one important thing when showing art schools her working is showing that she's teachable or have things to develop.
That's very true, I didn't mean to sound like she needed it at this very second. But I just find it easier if it always there, less trouble with making it as much of the picture as the artwork.

When your feelings get through to someone and you make that person happy, and you see them smile, what a wonderful feeling it is... And how truely wonderful, if that someone is the one you love.
Also having a range of media may help you but definitely play to your strengths.
