piercing problems HELP!!!

I recently got my dimples pierced and (naturally) my cheeks swelled and the piercing that I had in was cutting into the inside of my mouth. So after a week of dealing with it I bought really long barbells so that I can move them and clean them. But my cheeks still hurt and I am still getting yellow puss out of them. I move them, clean them with sea salt and mouth wash. So what I am wondering is....WHEN WILL IT STOP? Im almost to the point of calling it quits and taking them out. Someone help me on what I should expect from this kind of piercing because no one will tell me what to expect.

Well to be fair it's a fairly new piercing so it's going to take a bit to heal. Especially in areas where there is a decent amount of movement. It's going to be sensitive for a good few weeks.

How often do you clean it?
What kind of mouth wash are you using?

I'm cleaning it around 5 times a day (the outside) and mouth wash around 7 times a day. I'm using listerine alcohol free. How long should the bars in my mouth be? Because mine stick out a little over an inch from my cheek?

Ugh. Okay so:

1. You should have gone back to your piercer to have the proper size put in. The amount someone will swell is really hard to judge a lot of the time so it's mostly a guessing game.

2. You don't need to move them around. In fact, you should avoid moving them any more than they naturally do.

3. If the puss is yellowish, there is probably infection. Most likely caused by you changing the bars yourself and them not being sterile. Taking them out would trap the infection in your cheeks.

4. You are over cleaning. Twice a day do a hot sea salt soak. As hot as you can stand. On the outside. For the inside, continue with the listerene after everything you put in your mouth that is not water for at least 2 weeks. This includes smoking of any kind, and alcohol. Also, avoid dairy and anything spicy, and ESPECIALLY beer. No exchanging of fluids for at least two weeks as well.

Ouch. Sounds really painful. One other thing, and I don't know if anyone else has ever had a problem with this, but I used a super minty toothpaste that irritated the fuck out of my new tongue piercing. It was the kind with the mini Listerine breath strips in it. I changed to something less outrageously minty and it settled down a bit. I know that's not causing the infection, but anything you can do to annoy the piercings less will help.

thank you for your help I slowed down on cleaning and it helped a lot....and I ended up going to a 14gage. But all in all it feels so much better to have the right size.
